Imidazolium Chloride: An Efficient Catalyst for Transamidation of Primary Amines

Qingqiang Tian,Zongjie Gan,Xuetong Wang,Dan Li,Wen Luo,Huajun Wang,Zeshu Dai,Jianyong Yuan

A highly efficient and convenient protocol of imidazolium chloride (30 mol %) catalyzed amidation of amines with moderate to excellent yields was reported. The protocol shows broad substrate scope for aromatic, aliphatic, and heterocyclic primary amines. Keywords:imidazolium chloride;catalyst;primary amines;transamidation

Size sensitivity of supported Ni nanoparticles on carbon for the synthesis of secondary amines from acceptorless dehydrogenation-hydrogenation of primary amines

Ziliang Yuan,Guanghui Wang,Xun Li,Yurong He,Pan Wang,Francesco Mauriello,Zehui Zhang

Earth-abundant metal catalysts, especially Ni, are highly favourable in heterogeneous reactions compared with noble metal ones. Herein, Ni nanoparticle catalysts supported on Vulcan carbon (VCX) support were prepared through a simple impregnation-reduction method and utilized for the acceptorless dehydrogenation of primary amines to secondary amines. The best performance was achieved with Ni (A) /VXC with Ni particle size of 11.9 nm at 150 °C. Smaller or larger particle sizes resulted in a lower TOF, indicating a structure-sensitive activity. This work may serve as inspiration for further investigation into acceptorless dehydrogenation using non-noble metal catalysts.

Mild and selective hydrogenation of nitriles into primary amines over a supported Ni catalyst

Jianjian Wang,Qingjie Tang,Shiwei Jin,Yanxin Wang,Ziliang Yuan,Quan Chi,Zehui Zhang

The development of new heterogeneous non-noble catalytic systems for the selective hydrogenation of nitriles into primary amines is a challenging task. In this study, a mesoporous Al2O3 supported Ni catalyst (denoted as Ni/Al2O3-600, where 600 represents the reduction temperature) demonstrated a high catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of nitriles under mild conditions (60–80 °C and 2.5 bar H2) with ammonia as the additive. This catalytic system has a wide substrate range and the Ni/Al2O3 catalyst demonstrated a good tolerance to other functional groups, which was possibly due to its high catalytic activity under mild conditions. A plausible reaction pathway was proposed for the hydrogenation of nitriles into primary amines, and it was found that ammonia played a great role in the enhancement of the selectivity of primary amines by the inhibition of the side reaction to generate secondary amines. In addition, the Ni/Al2O3-600 catalyst could be reused five times without activity loss through convenient magnetic recovery.

One-pot synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazole derivatives via Cu(I) catalyzed C–N/C–O coupling of N-(2-chloro-phenyl)-2-halo-benzamides and primary amines

Dazhuang Miao,Xuesong Shi,Guozhen He,Yao Tong,Zengqiang Jiang,Shiqing Han

N -(2-Chloro-phenyl)-2-halo-benzamides (halo=I/Br/Cl) as substrates were used for the one-pot synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxazole derivatives via copper-catalyzed intermolecular C–N/intramolecular C–O couplings with primary amines . This aryl amination offers clean reaction conditions and easy work-up in good yields by using CuI as catalyst, readily available 8-hydroxyquinoline as ligand, K 3 PO 4 as base, DMF as solvent.

Biomass-derived carbon-supported Ni catalyst: an effective heterogeneous non-noble metal catalyst for the hydrogenation of nitro compounds

Qingjie Tang,Ziliang Yuan,Shiwei Jin,Kaiyue Yao,Hanmin Yang,Quan Chi,Bing Liu

There has been a great deal of attention to the development of heterogeneous non-noble metal catalysts for the selective and mild hydrogenation of nitro compounds into primary amines. Herein, a biomass-derived carbon material supported Ni catalyst (Ni/C) was facilely prepared by a one-pot pyrolysis process, and the as-prepared Ni/C catalyst demonstrated a high catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of nitro compounds into primary amines at room temperature. The Ni/C catalyst not only demonstrated a high catalytic activity but also showed a good tolerance to other functional groups. Structurally diverse primary amines were achieved in yields from 92% to 99% within a few hours at room temperature under 5 bar H2. Furthermore, the Ni/C catalyst showed good reusability without the loss of its activity.
