High energy density Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) batteries have attracted significant attention, although their severe energy decay and rate capability loss still hinder their large-scale application. Two-dimensional (2D) MXene materials can immobilize polysulfides via strong chemisorption and physical hinderance. However, MXene nanosheets tend to restack in solution, losing their favorable electronic conductivity due to functional substituents on the surface. In this work, a three-dimensional (3D) MXene material is fabricated with MXene nanosheets and carbon-poly (diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) nanoparticles using self-assembly strategy. As the sulfur host, the 3D material not only prevents MXene nanosheets from restacking, but also ensures to provide a framework to confine S and raises the utilization of sulfur. As a result, the sulfur cathode demonstrates a highly reversible specific capacity of 1016.8 mAh g −1 at 0.2 C, excellent rate capability, and long-term cycling stability, with the capacity decay rate of only 0.075% per cycle over 600 cycles at 1 C.

Zn anode-based electrochromic devices (ZECDs) stand out as a highly promising technology in the upcoming era of multifunctional electronic devices, offering a blend of electrochromic capabilities and energy storage functions within a single transparent platform. However, significant challenges persist in achieving efficient patterning, ensuring long-term stability, and fast color-switching kinetics for these devices. In this study, heterogeneous tungsten oxide nanowires (W 17 O 47 /Na 0.1 WO 3 , WNOs) are formulated into inkjet printing ink to assemble patternable ZECDs. The heterogeneous electrode structure of WNO enables a highly capacitive-controlled mechanism that promotes fast electrochromic/electrochemical behavior. Notably, by utilizing a three-dimensional MXene mesh modified substrate, the inkjet-printed ZECDs exhibit a wide optical modulation range of 69.13%, rapid color-changing kinetics ( t c = 4.1 s, t b = 5.4 s), and highly reversible capacities of 70 mAh cm −2 over 1000 cycles. This scalable strategy develops the patterned electrodes with a wide optical modulation range and substantial energy storage properties, offering promising prospects for their application in next-generation smart electronics.

Rechargeable Mg/Li hybrid ion batteries with Mg 2+ /Li + double-salt electrolytes and safe Mg anodes are a viable option for large-scale energy storage. Nevertheless, achieving the desired reasonable electrochemical performance remains a great challenge due to the capacity limitations of conventional Li-intercalation cathodes. To mitigate this limitation, the 3D oxygenated MXene Ti 3 C 2 @CoS 2 /FeS 2 (denoted as o-Ti 3 C 2 @CoS 2 , o-Ti 3 C 2 @FeS 2 ) with both dual-storage mechanism and multidimensional structure to achieve the desirable storage capacity is engineered. Benefiting from the formation of special structure and interfacial chemical bonds Ti–O–Co/Ti–O–Fe, as well as the electronegative o-Ti 3 C 2 weaken the Co–S/Fe–S bonds, the o-Ti 3 C 2 @CoS 2 cathode exhibits superior capacity up to 425 mAh g −1 at 100 mA g −1 and overwhelming advantageous ultra-long life over 2,400 cycles at 500 mA g −1 . Simultaneously, the o-Ti 3 C 2 @FeS 2 also displays a high-rate capability, outstanding cycling stability, and fast diffusion kinetics. Furthermore, the conversion reaction of Mg 2+ /Li + co-intercalation and the charge storage mechanism during cycling are thoroughly clarified by systematic ex-situ characterizations and theoretical computations. This study reveals the influence of MXene electrode structure on the importance of electrochemical performance and provides guidance for the future design of high-performance MXene materials for energy storage applications.

As the application environment of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites becomes increasingly complex and changeful, the polymer materials with excellent mechanical properties and EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) are highly desired, in order to maintain the long-term operation of equipment. Herein, we report a series of flexible and self-healing EMI shielding composites, which are developed by first constructing a highly electrically conductive 3D porous Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) hybrid aerogel (MRG) by the freeze-drying and chemical reduction methods, and subsequently introducing dynamic crosslinked polyurethane containing Diels–Alder bonds (PUDA) into MRG by the vacuum assisted impregnation method. The 3D MXene/rGO/PUDA (MRGP) composites show a high EMI SE of 39.1 dB at an ultra-low 0.46 vol% of MXene and 0.65 vol% of rGO loading in the range of X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz), and the EMI SE can recover to 34.1 dB after three times of severing/healing cycles, retaining 91.4% of the EMI SE of the initial sample. In addition, the EMI SE of thrice healed MRGP composite hardly changes after 5000 bending cycles. The flexible and self-healing EMI shielding PUDA composites in our work show great potential application for long-term protection of portable communication electronic equipment.
