In situ Ti3+/N-codoped 3D urchinlike black TiO2 (b-N-TiO2) is synthesized via hydrothermal treatment with an in situ solid-state chemical reduction method, followed by annealing at 350 °C in argon. The results indicate that N and Ti3+ was codoped into the lattice of anatase TiO2. The prepared b-N-TiO2, with a narrow bandgap of ∼2.43 eV, possesses a three-dimensional (3D) urchinlike nanostructure, which is composed of fiberlike architecture with a length of 200–400 nm and a width of 25 nm. The visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation rate of Methyl Orange and hydrogen evolution rate for b-N-TiO2 are 95.2% and 178 μmol h–1 g–1, respectively, which are ∼3 and ∼8 times higher than those of pristine TiO2. The excellent photocatalytic activity is mainly attributed to synergistic effect of the N and Ti3+ codoping narrowing the bandgap, and unique 3D urchinlike architecture favors the separation and transport of photogenerated charge carriers and offers more surface-active sites.
Herein, we have assembled an anionic donor–acceptor (D-A) conjugated polyelectrolyte dots (Pdots), based on bithiophene units-containing backbone and sulfonate modified side chain (PCP-2F-Li), with porous g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (CNNS) into a new 0D/2D heterojunction (PCP-2F-Li Pdots/CNNS). The well-matched energy levels of PCP-2F-Li and CNNS and the strong electron-donating sulfinates in PCP-2F-Li can significantly accelerate the interfacial electron transfer in heterojunction, while the strong hydrophilicity of PCP-2F-Li can improve the interface wetting and promote the photocatalytic water-splitting. As such, PCP-2F-Li Pdots/CNNS can be used for efficient co-catalyst-free water splitting with a hydrogen evolution rate (HER) of 1932.1 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 over 6 runs, which is 1.85 and 2.29 times of hydrophobic F8T2 Pdots/CNNS and Pt-assisted CNNS, respectively. The apparent quantum yield (AQY) of PCP-2F-Li Pdots/CNNS can reach 7.87 %, 7.73 % and 5.60 % at 420, 450 and 475 nm, respectively. The findings highlight a new type of the Pdots-assisted heterojunctions for high-efficiency and durable co-catalyst-free water splitting.

In this paper, the microstructure evolution of polymeric carbon nitride was investigated and Au ions was used to improve its photocatalytic efficiency. Their structures were investigated by FT-IR, XPS, XRD , SEM and TEM. Their specific surface area and aperture distribution were measured by BET. Meanwhile, the energy band structure and electron-hole separation efficiency were analyzed by UV–Vis and PL spectroscopy. In addition, the photocatalytic performance of the photocatalysts was assessed by photocatalytic degradation of RhB and photocatalytic hydrogen evolution . The results showed that 600-PCN possessed the best photocatalytic performance, with a degradation rate of 46.92 % in 150 min. What's more, the degradation rate of RhB solution by 2 % Au/PCN reached 47.88 %, which was 2.17 times higher than that of 550-PCN (22.01 %). During the degradation process, h + oxidatively degrade RhB. The hydrogen production rate of 2 % Au/PCN was about 11.658 μmol/g/h, which was 41.23 times higher than that of 550-PCN (0.282 μmol/g/h).
