This paper describes a novel dielectric spectroscopic technique to investigate the milk freshness and adulterated agents using a customized, open-ended, coaxial probe. An inversely proportional relationship was found between temperature and shelf-life and the real part of the complex permittivity (ε’) of the samples at 0.1–3 GHz. At 2 GHz, a linear relationship was found in ε’ and ε”, storage time, and water content. In addition, total of five adulterants’ agents were investigated and a linear relationship was found between both ε’ and ε” parts, and their concentrations (R2 > 0.99). This approach could be the potential basis of rapid online milk quality monitoring in milk production facilities.
Solvent-free double network elastomers have excellent mechanical properties and stability. However, there are few studies on ion transport in solvent-free double network elastomers. In this paper, we prepared a kind of poly(ionic liquid) (PIL)-based solvent-free elastomer with double network structure by using crosslinked poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] trimethyl ammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imine (P[VBTMA][TFSI]) network as brittle network and crosslinked poly(ethyl acrylate) (PEA) as stretchable network. The mechanical properties and the ion transport of samples as a function of elongation strain were investigated by stress-strain curves and broadband dielectric spectroscopy , respectively. The results show the double network elastomer has medium elastic modulus of 0.4–0.9 MPa, high elongation strain of 1700–2300% and ionic conductivity of 1.04 × 10 −7 S·m −1 at room temperature . When the sample does not yield, stretching almost does not affect the ion transport in the network. As the strain exceeds the yield point, the conductivity relaxation time of the samples with low crosslinking degree of PIL network increases little, while the conductivity relaxation time of the samples with high crosslinking degree increases significantly. This is because the former network breaks uniformly, while the latter appears phase separation when yielding. The result improves the understanding of ion transport in double network polyelectrolyte elastomers.
A measurement scheme for detecting the α relaxation time (τ) of glass-forming liquid is proposed, which is based on the measured ionic conductivity of the liquid doped with probing ions by low- and middle-frequency dielectric spectroscopy and according to the Nernst–Einstein, Stokes–Einstein, and Maxwell equations. The obtained τ values of glycerol and propylene carbonate by the scheme are consistent with those obtained by traditional dielectric spectroscopy, which confirms its reliability and accuracy. Moreover, the τ of 1,2-propanediol in a larger temperature range is compared with existing data.

Owing to the expanding function of Li-ion transmission channels, it is important to explore the doping effects of different compounds into sulfide solid electrolytes to improve their electrochemical performances. However, it is hard to characterize the doping behaviors within sulfide solid electrolytes with low crystallinity and poor stability just by conventional crystallography analytical methods. In this work, the dielectric spectrum testing combined with other analytical methods, such as 7Li solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and the electrochemical method, have been applied to investigate the dual-doping behaviors of WS2 and LiBr within Li7P3S11 glass-ceramic electrolytes. This research method can not only evaluate the internal acting effect between the skeleton of sulfide solid electrolytes and the migrating kinetics of Li ions but also explore the capacitance at the interfaces of LiCoO2/sulfide solid electrolytes. The experimental results show that the number of Li ions with fast transport velocity within Li2S-P2S5-based solid electrolytes has been increased. Meanwhile, the interfacial capacitances between Li2S-P2S5-based solid electrolytes and the LiCoO2 cathode have decreased after dual-doping of WS2 and LiBr, indicating a synergetic effect for the doped Li7P3S11 glass-ceramic electrolytes in terms of the ionic conductivities and interfacial compatibilities. This work may provide a novel analytical approach to explore both the diffusion kinetics and interfacial behaviors for the solid electrolytes of lithium batteries.
