All-optical logic gates (AOLGs) have attracted considerable attention for their high computing speed, low power consumption, and parallel processing; however, chemical design of new luminescent materials is a challenge to explore a facile platform for undertaking AOLGs. Here, an AOLG system is developed based on the organic–inorganic hybrid halides [NH 3 (CH 2 ) 2 NH 3 ] 2 ZnCl 6 :Mn 2+ with tricolor luminescence under dual-wavelength excitation, and the intrinsic emission mechanisms are further addressed. When employing 275 and 365 nm UV excitations as input signals, the AOLGs conduct Boolean operations “OR, YES, AND” via identifying the green (G) and red (R) emissions and their intensity ratio (R/G) as output signals. This work further demonstrates the AOLG operation imaging and image processing via hybrid halide emitters, indicating promise in optical computing applications.

Photoactuated logic switches, which translate light signals into logic operations via mechanical deformation, represent an emerging area of interest for unconventional computing. This work presents a graphene/polydimethylsiloxane (graphene/PDMS)-based photoactuated logic system capable of performing complex optical logic operations. A light-responsive soft switch was designed based on the photothermal and mechanical response of the graphene/PDMS composite. This switch exhibited reversible deformation and maintained stable operation over thousands of cycles under 980 nm near-infrared (NIR) light. The switch was further integrated into seven fundamental, optically-controlled logic gates (AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, XNOR) that operated under low-power NIR illumination. These gates were subsequently assembled into a 1-bit full adder, demonstrating the feasibility of constructing more complex, light-driven logic circuits from photoactuated materials.
