Insulator hydroxyapatite (HAp) was chosen as a candidate to construct full-spectrum photocatalyst. Glucose as a functional precursor was incorporated into HAp by coprecipitated method, and the glucose-modified HAp was then calcined under nitrogen atmosphere. With the loss of OH - group in HAp and the decomposition of glucose during the calcination, oxygen vacancies (OVs) for regulating the band gap, graphitic carbon (GC) as a good electron acceptor, and a channel for rapid carrier separation via the C-O-Ca forming between OV-HAp and GC can be simultaneously achieved. The as-prepared OV-HAp/GC displayed full-spectrum response and rapid separation of carriers. Moreover, it showed high degradation performance for 2, 4-dichlorophenol (2, 4-DCP), phenol, and tetracycline under visible, NIR, and full-spectrum. This strategy is not only facile, but also exhibits a certain universality. This work opens a new window for full-spectrum photocatalysts construction based on insulators, and large-scale production for practical use can be expected.

In order to take full advantage of solar energy, the development of full spectrum photocatalysts have become focus of attention. Herein, the hollow FeS 2 /Bi 2 S 3 is constructed to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen evolution by the synergistic effect of photothermal property and thermoelectric effect. This is the first time to exploit the ΔT between the heat generated by photothermal effect and the cold photocatalytic system to provide driving force for pyroelectric effect. The FeS 2 can make the most of near infrared (NIR) light to thermogenesis and provide hot end for thermoelectric effect of Bi 2 S 3 . Under the environment of circulating condensed water, Bi 2 S 3 will cause spontaneous polarization and generate thermoelectric effect under the influence of temperature difference (ΔT) fluctuation. It releases the charge on the surface, so as to control the migration direction and rate of carriers in FeS 2 nanoparticles. The results of surface work function and COMSOL numerical simulation display that the improvement of photocatalytic efficiency is on account of the lower surface work function and high pyroelectric potential. The hydrogen production efficiency of FeS 2 /Bi 2 S 3 -3 reaches 16.8 mmol g −1 h −1 and has favourable cycle stability. This study provides a new insight for the design and construction of novel full spectrum photocatalysts.
In this work, we synthesized a sun-like light source with tri-chromatic broad spectra, composed of light source units with single-peak 435-nm carbon quantum dots (QDs) and 695-nm perovskite QDs, and dual-peak 510- and 590-nm Ag-doped InP QDs, referencing CIE standard illuminants D50 and D65. Based on a spectral angle measure approach, we adopt the spectral similarity index (SSI) to measure the similarity between the synthesized light source and reference light source. We quantify the colour rendering and SSI of the tri-chromatic light source units and obtain the colour rendering and SSI as a function of chromaticity coordinate. The synthesized light source reaches an ideal performance with a maximum spectral similarity of 0.98 and colour rendering of about 93. This work is the first to synthesize a full-spectrum sun-like source with three QD light units, including a dual-peak QD unit, and proves QD LEDs as promising light sources for synthesizing full-spectrum light sources. In the future, improving the long wavelength part (>700 nm) of the broad-spectrum QD LED unit may significantly improve the colour rendering property.

Summary Photocatalytic depolymerization is a high value-added approach for utilization of lignin. In this study, magnetic microspheres of FeCoRu@SiO 2 –TiO 2 were synthesized by a co-precipitation method. Doping with CoO x and RuO x was used to improve the response to visible light, and doping with TiO 2 was used to improve the response to ultraviolet light ( λ < 380 nm). The lignin model compound depolymerization rate was >90%. The electron paramagnetic resonance results showed that the reaction occurred in two steps (aerobic phase and oxygen-free phase). Most of the O 2 − was produced in the first step by cleavage of C-O bonds. The second step was inhibited in an oxygen-free atmosphere. This research provides a valid method for enhancing the photocatalytic properties using full-spectrum light and exploring the lignin photocatalytic depolymerization mechanism. Further research is required to develop the catalyst properties and performance to produce radicals.
