Traditional metal–organic frameworks, characterized by their micropore-dominated structures, suffer from severe pore channel blockage during gold ion recovery due to the aggregation of gold nanoparticles, significantly reducing the utilization rate of adsorption sites. To address this issue, we developed hierarchically porous MOFs through ligand removal and metal exchange strategies, precisely installing adsorption sites within meso/macropores to effectively prevent pore obstruction by adsorbed-reduced gold particles. Subsequent Metal substitution further enhanced the material’s aqueous stability, enabling retention of 93 % adsorption capacity after 5 cycles while preserving the precisely engineered pore structure. The functionalized HP-MOF-5/DU achieves an ultrahigh Au(III) capacity of 1566 mg/g, rapid kinetics, and exceptional selectivity. Practical validation demonstrates 85 % gold recovery from real electronic waste leachates, with calcination yielding gold particles of 23.7 K purity. Through rational regulation of pore channel structures at adsorption sites, we have significantly enhanced the material’s Au(III) adsorption performance, pioneering a novel direction for the design of reducible metal-targeted adsorbents.
The dye pollution in environmental water and food caused by industrial production and illegal addition is a serious problem worldwide, which endangers ecosystem, food safety and human health. To effectively overcome these challenges, a magnetic bioinspired hierarchical porous MOFs (BHP-MOFs) based on ZIF-8, Fe 3 O 4 and three-dimensional graphene was successfully prepared for selective adsorption of Congo red (CR) and Malachite green (MG) from aqueous solutions. The surface morphology, physicochemical structure and composition of BHP-MOFs were characterized by SEM, TEM, FT-IR, XRD, Zeta potential, TGA and VSM analysis. The prepared BHP-MOFs exhibited a large specific surface area (225.522 m 2 /g), high pore volume (0.248 cm 3 /g) and superparamagnetism, which made it an efficient adsorbent for fast adsorption of CR and MG. The adsorption kinetics studies showed that the adsorption mechanism of CR and MG followed the pseudo-second model and the adsorption process fitted well to Langmuir isotherm equation. Thermodynamic experiments have shown that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. The maximum adsorption capacities of CR and MG were 176.06 and 448.43 mg/g, respectively. Under the optimum conditions, BHP-MOFs were successfully used as magnetic adsorbents for the removal of CR and MG in environmental water and fruit juices, with removal efficiency ranged from 97.09% to 76.00%. The reusability of the BHP-MOFs was repeated with seven cycles and removal efficiency remained at 63.01% and 82.20% for CR and MG, respectively. It is proved that BHP-MOFs composite has excellent adsorption capacity for dyes and has a wide application prospect in practical applications.

The main obstacles of recognition of flavoniods are low concentration and complexity of extract wastewater solutions. The structural and stability limitation of the sorbents is the significant reason for the difficulty in increasing the adsorption amount in the separation system. Hereon, a novel hierarchical-pore boronic acid-functionalized-MOFs based on macroporous organo/hydro copolymers (CPs@H-UiO-66-NH 2 @BA) were firstly fabricated through the triple sacrificial cross-linking strategy, which allowed the formation of multiple hydrogen bond networks (i.e. main crosslinked networks and weak crosslinked networks) at oil–water interface. Noticeably, the MOFs with polymer chain entanglement effects as a physical sacrificial cross-linking network, significantly enhancing the mechanical properties. The maximum equilibrium binding capacity of CPs@H-UiO-66-NH 2 @BA was 40.93 µmol g −1 for NRG at 308 K. Furthermore, it also showed superior regeneration capacity capability (only 7.81% loss) after six cycles. Meanwhile, they had a stronger selectivity towards NRG. It can effectively purify the low purity of the actual sample ground to 92.68%. It is anticipated that in-situ the introduction of nanoboronic-functionalized MOFs construction into copolymers would hold great promise in the selective capture of target flavonoids in actual samples.
