Textiles with inherently porous architectures are commonly employed for acoustic absorption. Although recent advances in textile-based audio interfaces have enabled sound emission, they lack robustness under unstructured conditions. Therefore, this study introduces a strategy that integrates textile structures with a durable actuation mechanism to overcome these limitations. Through optimized theoretical modeling, this study enhances the vibration amplitudes, effectively compensating for the intrinsic acoustic damping losses of textiles, achieving a relatively high and flat sound pressure level of 71.7 ± 3.3 dB. Notably, the audio interface maintains stable performance under various mechanical deformations, including stretching, compression, bending, and twisting. Furthermore, this audio interface preserves the essential characteristics of textiles, such as washability and breathability, and remains fully functional even in extremely humid conditions, such as heavy perspiration. The versatility of this approach is demonstrated through three practical applications: sound-beanie, talking-cloth, and sound-sofa. In each case, this audio interface delivers high-quality acoustic performance and robustness to unstructured conditions. The proposed strategy is anticipated to enhance the design of wearable audio interfaces for real-world applications.

When nanoporous aerogels with excellent thermal insulation performance are processed into 1D fibers, they have great potential for application in the field of personal thermal management. However, coping with the impact of external forces, especially radial extrusion, and maintaining the macro morphology and microstructure of aerogels during use are remaining issues. To address these challenges, this study proposes a method that uses ultrafine and ultra-highly entangled bacterial cellulose nanofibers as the basis to achieve high radial elasticity by forming an isomorphic coating of rigid silica on the soft gel skeleton of aerogel fibers. The obtained aerogel fibers can achieve an elastic recovery of 88% over 50 compression cycles under 90% strain, and they can be knotted, woven into textiles, and are washable. This strategy improves the radial compression resistance of aerogel fibers, providing rich possibilities for the development of aerogel fibers with excellent mechanical properties.

Programmable smart textiles with adaptive moisture/heat conditioning (MHC) capabilities are globally being sought to meet the requirements of comfort, energy efficiency, and health protection. However, a universal strategy for fabricating truly scalable and customizable MHC textiles is lacking. In this study, we introduce a scalable in situ grafting approach for the continuous fabrication of two series of smart textile yarns with opposite thermoresponsive wetting behaviors. In particular, the wetting transition temperature can be precisely programmed by adjusting the grafting formula, making the yarns highly customizable. The smart yarns demonstrated excellent mechanical strength, whiteness, weavability, biocompatibility, and washability (with more than 60 home washes), comparable to those of regular textile yarns. They can serve as building blocks independently or in combination to create smart textiles with adaptive sweat wicking and intelligent moisture/heat regulation capabilities. A proposed hybrid textile integrating both the two series of smart yarns can offer dry-contact and cooling/keep-warming effects of approximately 1.6/2.8 °C, respectively, in response to changes in ambient temperature. Our method provides a rich array of design options for nonpowered MHC textiles while maintaining a balance between traditional wearing conventions and large-scale production.

Wearable electronics based on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) capable of monitoring various environmental pollutants is a promising approach for realizing gas sensing of chemical information. However, their sensing application combined with electronic textile with breathable, washable and flexible features has not been completely established yet. Herein, we describe a facile and effective strategy to fabricate flexible gas sensor for rapidly detecting hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) through integrating NO 2 -UiO-66 on electrospun nanofibers membrane (NO 2 -UiO-66 NM) firmly and uniformly. Different from the inherent brittleness and poor processability of powder MOFs, the achieved NO 2 -UiO-66 NM delivers enhanced porosity and surface area, outstanding flexibility, desirable breathability, stable to washing and strong accessibility, more suitable for practical applications. Consequently, the fabricated NO 2 -UiO-66 NM sensor exhibits a significantly high detection selectivity for H 2 S among various analytes (H 2 S, SO 2 , C 6 H 6 , CO and NH 3 ) and remarkable sensitivity for H 2 S with unprecedentedly ultralow detection limit reaching down to 10 ppb. Moreover, the sensing performance can be greatly remained after around five weeks at concentration down to 1 ppm; also, there are slight impact of deformation on sensing activities, revealing superior H 2 S sensing stability. This study offers a feasible solution to develop electronic textiles for chemical sensing application.
