Advances in the processing of lignin based materials have brought to a new approach for the development of human- and eco- friendly wearable ultra violet (UV)shielding products. However, it is still a challenge to achieve the trade-off between UV shielding property and biocompatibility. Herein, dispersion stable lignin nanospheres (LNPs) with biocompatible property were designed via a simple and inexpensive method in a water/tetrahydrofuran (THF) system, and its chemical characteristics were hardly changed. Subsequently, an optics protective film with multifunction and safety was prepared without any chemical modifiers by adulterating LNPs into Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). The LNPs/PVA film exhibited advanced characteristics, including UV shielding property (≥99.9 % at wavelength range of UVB), optical transparency (84.85 % at 550 nm) and mechanical performances (strength to 18.25 MPa and strain to 316.12 %). Meanwhile, a scalable strategy was proposed that LNPs was used to the surface functional coating of cotton fabric (CF) to fabricate human wearable UV shielding products. The prepared LNPs/CF exhibited superior UV shielding property with UV protection factor (UPF) of >900 and air permeability of 372.25 cm 3 /m 2 . d . Pa. Significantly, the LNPs/CF showcased superior comprehensive properties, including washing resistance, sewaging resistance and abrasing resistant, which maintained its original properties at extreme environment ( e.g. high and low temperature). This work paves a feasible avenue to develop multifunctional bio-based materials supported on future wearable UV protection products.

The development of new kinds of organic semiconductor-based photocatalysts has being attracting more and more research attentions due to their advantages over traditional inorganic photocatalysts and their great application prospects. In this work, polyacrylonitrile (PAN), a low-cost homopolymer largely used in the textile industry, was found for the first time to possess the photocatalytic capability due to its good light absorption and proper electronic band structure to generate radicals. Under simulated solar illumination, it successfully degraded organic pollutants of phenol and sulfamethoxazole (SMX), and disinfected Escherichia coli ( E. coli ) bacteria. After 2 h treatment, the residual concentrations of phenol and SMX decreased to ∼ 75.9 % and ∼ 89 % respectively, while the survival ratio of E. coli cells dropped to only ∼ 28 % after 1 h treatment. h + and ·O 2 – were found to be the main active species in its photocatalytic process. It had a good stability and reusability, and worked well in the real water matrix of tap water, beneficial for its practical applications. PAN, PAN-based organics, and organics with similar structures as PAN could become a new series of organic semiconductor-based photocatalysts for various technical applications, especially as wearable products with self-disinfection property to provide protection against bacteria and viruses.
The rapid development of portable flexible electronic devices means a multifunctional composite film with excellent thermal management capability, high electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and a strong fire safety performance is urgently required. In this paper, inspired by a “brick–mortar” sandwich structure, phase change capsules (PCCs) and MXene nanosheets are prepared. Subsequently, a one-step vacuum-assisted filtration method is used to fabricate a multifunctional flexible PCC/MXene/polyvinyl alcohol (PMP) phase change composite film with high light-to-thermal conversion efficiency, Joule heating generation, fire safety, and EMI shielding effects. The superior preparation technology endows the film with multi-source driven thermal management capabilities and excellent EMI shielding effectiveness values (43.13 dB). In addition, the PMP film exhibits good flexibility and high enthalpy (136.8 J g −1 ). Surprisingly, the PMP film's excellent fire safety properties improve its reliability and safety. In summary, the simple preparation technique and outstanding overall performance of the PMP films provide broad application prospects in advanced thermal management and EMI shielding in wearable products.
