We reported the dual-responsive Pickering emulsion systems with a reversible transition between the oil-in-water emulsified form and separated oil/water phase. The Pickering emulsions were prepared using negatively charged Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles in combination with 1-dodecyl-1H-imidazole (abbreviated as C 12 mim) as stabilizers. By blowing CO 2 , C 12 mim was protonated to be [C 12 mim] + , inducing the modification of negatively charged Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles through electrostatic attraction and further the generation of emulsions. Moreover, the emulsions exhibited excellent stability at different oil/water ratios and high ionic strength. The reversible process, demulsification, could be realized by bubbling N 2 to remove CO 2 . Being ascribed to the magnetism of the Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles, the complete demulsification process could also be triggered in several minutes under an external magnetic field. In addition, due to the avoidance of the extra additives in response, the emulsions can maintain their initial performance in theory after the transition between emulsification and demulsification, and can be adequately recycled after removing the original oil and adding fresh oil, being conformed to the principle of green and energy-saving processing.

In this work, several kinds of imidazolate-based ether-functionalized ionic liquids (ILs) were synthesized and used for CO 2 capture. It is note-worthy that IL with [C 6 O 2 mim] + as cation has much smaller molecular weight but similar mole capacity compared with those with [P 66614 ] + , which is usually used as cation for anion-functionalized ILs in the carbon capture process. Among these task functionalized ILs, [C 6 O 2 mim][4-Br-Im] can be a potential candidate for carbon capture. Not only has [C 6 O 2 mim][4-Br-Im] an extremely high CO 2 capacity (more than 1.60 mol CO 2 per mol IL achieved), but also shows high uptake efficiency and recovery capability. In addition, [C 6 O 2 mim][4-Br-Im] has higher thermal stability, higher water stability and lower absorption enthalpy. The mechanism of this carbon capture process was investigated by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy. Surprisingly, in this process, CO 2 first bound the cations to form zwitterions. When CO 2 was continuously bubbled into ILs, the zwitterions started to dissociate and the anions combined with CO 2 . It is verified that this process is a carbon capture transforming process with the Cationic-drive transforming to Anionic-drive. This work offers a deep understanding of the combination process between CO 2 and imidazolate-based with aprotic heterocyclic anions.
The gas-liquid equilibrium (GLE) data were determined for the mixture SO2 + N2 in the binary system of tetraethylene glycol (TeEG) + dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at T = 298.15–313.15 K and p = 123.15 kPa with the SO2 partial pressures of 0.4–150 Pa. From GLE data, Henry’s law constants (HLCs) were obtained. When the SO2 concentration in the gas phase was designed at ySO2 = 500 ppmv, the SO2 solubility in the binary system is located in a minimum of 9.36 mol m−3 in TeEG and a maximum of 80.34 mol m−3 in DMSO. The SO2 absorption process was reversible from the five absorption–desorption cycles, and the solvents could repeat utilisation without obvious loss of absorption capacity and the homologous SO2 desorption efficiency was nearby 98.7%. Furthermore, the spectral consequences illustrated that H-bonding was formed among TeEG, DMSO and SO2.

The electrolysis of Al 2 S 3 in NaCl-KCl molten salts is one of effective ways to achieve sustainable and low-carbon aluminum preparation. The dissolution of Al 2 S 3 into a chloride molten salt promotes the generation of Al-S-Cl complex ions. In this study, the discharge complex ions present in the equimolar NaCl-KCl salt with 1 wt% Al 2 S 3 were analyzed via quantum chemistry calculations at 953 K. On this basis, the cathodic electrochemical behaviors were experimentally investigated via linear sweep voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The results show that Al 2 S 3 Cl − complex ions are discharged on the graphite cathode through a one-step, three-electron transfer reduction process. This reduction is diffusion-controlled and exhibits a quasi-reversible process, with a charge transfer coefficient of 0.271 and a diffusion coefficient of 7.500 × 10 −5 cm 2 ·s −1 .
