Multifunctional flexible wearable epidermic sensors have gained enormous attention for their promising potential applications in personal health management, electronic skins and intelligent human-machine interaction. However, it remains a critical challenge to realize a flexible breathable sensing device with reliable sensing performances for comfortably wearable human motion detection and ultrasensitive human-machine interfacing with the integrated functional capability of disease diagnosis and subsequent photothermal therapy simultaneously. Herein, a flexible breathable epidermic sensor is fabricated by delicately assembling conductive MXene nanosheets and silver nanowires (AgNWs) onto electrospun elastomeric substrates for ultrasensitive sensing and on-demand photothermal therapy. The as-prepared flexible breathable electronic sensor presents a broad sensing range (up to ∼120 %), ultrahigh sensitivity (gauge factor (GF) up to 4720), extremely low detection limit, remarkable reliability, and robust biocompatibility for serving as the electronic skin to monitor human physiological signals and wearable human-machine interaction. Moreover, it exhibits brilliant photothermal properties for enhanced antibacterial effect and timely photothermal therapy after healthcare monitoring and disease diagnosis. This work provides a facile way of developing flexible breathable multifunctional electronic sensors featured with excellent sensing ability, brilliant breathability and reliable photothermal properties for long-term healthcare monitoring, ultrasensitive wearable human-machine interfacing, smart disease diagnosis and treatment.

Biointerface engineering is pivotal for the seamless integration of wearable sensors with skin, offering transformative potential in bioelectronics, personalized diagnostics, and human–computer interfaces. Nonetheless, creating high-performance biointerface materials that adhere effectively to the skin while simultaneously providing breathability and preserving mechanical compliance remains a formidable challenge. Here, we present a solvent-free, ion-conductive biointerface film fabricated via the physical crosslinking of soft polyethylene oxide with phytic acid. The resulting film exhibits excellent air permeability (1.89 ± 0.02 mg cm−2 h−1), self-adhesion (89.60 ± 1.45 kPa), and mechanical compliance (skin-compatible Young's modulus of approximately 0.42 MPa). Remarkably, the material can be recycled and reused over 10 times, and dissolved quickly in hot water at 60 °C, enabling facile reprocessing. We demonstrate its efficacy as a wearable sensor conformally attached to the knuckles, providing stable electrochemical signals that accurately track bending states. In addition, we demonstrate its application as a leaf patch for continuous monitoring of plant activity over 48 hours. These findings offer a sustainable and versatile platform for advancing the development of flexible wearable technologies.

Physical activity is essential for physical health and mental well-being, while improper movements can cause serious injuries. To address this challenge, we developed a sweat-resistant, breathable, and antibacterial triboelectric sensor (BATS) for instantaneously monitoring of physical movements and reducing injury risks. The BATS was created using a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF-101-F) embedded within polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofibers. The resultant BATS system, when coupled with a logic circuit, will issue immediate warnings for improper movements or gestures, aiding in injury prevention. The BATS also present an excellent antibacterial property. The photoactive HOF-101-F generates singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), achieving over 90% antibacterial efficacy against E. coli and inhibiting microbial growth under sweaty conditions during physical activity. Additionally, the incorporation of HOF-101-F enhanced the electrical output of the BATS by 250% compared to pure PVDF. Entirely fiber-based and air-permeable, the BATS can be integrated into sportswear. With its superior comfort, antibacterial efficacy, and exceptional sensitivity, the BATS hold significant promise for personalized health management.

With the advent of an aging society and increasing concern for cardiovascular health, comfortable long-term electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring systems in daily life are much in demand. If the system can give real-time feedback on cardiovascular status and offer timely personalized advice like doctors, it will be beneficial to promote cardiovascular health and alleviate the imbalance of medical resources. Herein, we report a multifunctional, conformal, and air-permeable electronic skin (e-skin) based on MXene-Polyurethane mesh (MPM). When used as ECG electrodes, the e-skin shows ultra-low electrode–skin contact impedance (4.68 kΩ at 1 kHz), high signal-to-noise ratio (16.5 dB), and high breathability (2.1838 kg/m 2 /day), and can be continuously worn for at least 7 days. As a strain sensor, the e-skin exhibits a large measurement range (>40 %) and unique segmental sensitivity (GF = 172.54 in 0 ∼ 18.64 % and 79.38 in 18.64 ∼ 50 %), which is suitable for detecting both subtle and large physiological signals. More significantly, by combining the MPM e-skin with a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) and a merged convolutional neural network & long-short-term memory (CNN & LSTM) intelligent algorithm, the acquired wearable intelligent e-skin system can realize daily 12-hour 12-lead ECG monitoring with diagnostic accuracy over 99 % for four arrhythmias. These results show that the MPM e-skin has huge potential in multifunctional intelligent healthcare systems. In particular, an intelligent ECG system similar to a “daily doctor” is proposed for daily long-term cardiovascular health monitoring.
