Soft materials bearing rigid, lightweight, and vibration-dampening properties offer distinct advantages over traditional wooden and metal-based fillings for spent fuel transport casks, due to their low density, tunable structure, excellent mechanical properties, and ease of processing. In this study, a novel type of rigid polyurethane foam is prepared using a conventional polycondensation reaction between isocyanate and hydroxy groups. Moreover, the density and size of the pores in these foams are precisely controlled through simultaneous gas generation. The as-prepared polyurethane exhibits high thermal stability exceeding 185 °C. Lifetime predictions based on thermal testing indicate that these polyurethane foams could last up to over 60 years, which is double the lifetime of conventional materials of about 30 years. Due to their occlusive structure, the mechanical properties of these polymeric materials meet the design standards for spent fuel transport casks, with maximum compression and tensile stresses of 6.89 and 1.37 MPa, respectively, at a testing temperature of −40 °C. In addition, these polymers exhibit effective flame retardancy; combustion ceased within 2 s after removal of the ignition source. All in all, this study provides a simple strategy for preparing rigid polymeric foams, presenting them as promising prospects for application in spent fuel transport casks. Keywords:polyurethane foam;fillings;long service life;spent fuel;flame retardance

Cracks are the main challenges for asphalt pavement, which should be timely repaired. One of the most commonly used repairing methods is to fill the binding materials into cracks, but the repeated repairing ability is insufficient. The self-healing microcapsule technologies provide
the potentials for enhancing the repeated repairing ability of filling materials. Therefore, the microcapsule core material was selected from sunflower oil in this study, and the capsular wall material was selected from melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin, which was used to prepare the microcapsule
by using in-situ polymerization method. Three kinds of microcapsules with different particle sizes were prepared by adjusting the emulsifier dosage and core wall ratio. The microstructure, molecular structure, thermal stability, and dispersion features were further studied, and the
effects of microcapsules with different particle sizes on the repeated repairability of the filling materials were evaluated via the fatiguerepair-fatigue test. In addition, the traditional regenerative microcapsules were compared to determine the optimal particle size range for sunflower
oil microcapsules. According to the experimental research, it was thus concluded that the emulsion droplet size distribution was most concentrated when the emulsifier content was 0.7%; and when the core-wall ratio was 1.3:1, the microcapsules had uniform particle size and good dispersion effect.
When the microcapsule emulsification rate was 900 rpm and microcapsule content was 2%, then the repeated repair effect for the microcapsule crack filling materials was optimal. The sunflower oil type microcapsule therefore meets the filling temperature requirement for the filler.

Complex liquid–solid reactions occur during brazing. A deep understanding of brazing liquid evolution is therefore of important concern for the bonding between filler and substrates. The joining of gas-pressure-sintered silicon nitride (Si 3 N 4 ) ceramic to oxygen-free copper (OFC) foil was prepared using Ag–Cu–TiH 2 filler at 875°C for 0.5 h. The effect of the Ag:Cu ratio on the interfacial microstructure and peeling strength of the joints was analyzed. The reaction of brazing liquid with Si 3 N 4 ceramic includes reactions with both the β-Si 3 N 4 and the grain boundary phases (Y–Si–Mg–O–N). The resulting interfacial reaction products include TiN, Ti 5 Si 3 , and potential Cu 3 Ti 3 O. Based on the phase composition and three-dimensional morphology of the interfacial reaction products in the Si 3 N 4 ceramic/OFC foil joints, a model for the evolution of the brazing liquid as the reaction proceeds was proposed. Peeling test results indicated that the peeling strength of the joints rises unilaterally with the increase of the Ag:Cu ratio in the filler until reaching the peak value of 24.3 N/mm at the maximum Ag:Cu ratio of 90:10. The mechanisms of the joint peeling fracture were discussed in detail.

With the wide application of soft tissue fillers, implant material-induced inflammatory reactions have become a key factor affecting the therapeutic efficacy. This study developed an injectable filler with enhanced anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects by adsorbing glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper complex (GHK-Cu) onto hydroxyapatite microspheres (HAPs), marking the first combination of HAPs and GHK-Cu to address inflammation caused by soft tissue fillers. GHK-Cu was successfully loaded onto HAPs by electrostatic adsorption. HAPs were then mixed with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), glycerol (GLY), and water to form GHK-Cu@CMHA gel. The study focus on the effective combination of HAPs as a carrier for sustained GHK-Cu delivery and the anti-inflammatory properties of GHK-Cu. GHK-Cu@CMHA exhibits sustained release properties for 7 days, which ensures prolonged therapeutic effects, minimizes peptide waste and reduces injection frequency, with good flowability and injectability. In the model of LPS-induced inflammation model in vivo and in vitro, GHK-Cu@CMHA gel reduced levels of inflammatory factors and Reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels decreased, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was enhanced. In this process, H&E staining and Masson staining revealed significant collagen deposition. These findings further confirm that GHK-Cu@CMHA is a novel injectable soft tissue filler with good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which holds well potential for inflammation inhibition.
