The main purpose of this work was to explore the effect of metal modified biochar and multi-catalysts on improving the quality of products by microwave pyrolysis (MVP) of biomass. Single-component catalysts and multi-catalysts were prepared by Zn/Zr impregnation methods. The prepared catalysts were evaluated by XRD , BET, FT-IR and SEM. The properties, composition and product distribution of bio-oil and bio-syngas were analyzed. The results showed that ZSM-5 obtained more bio-oil (42.16 wt%) at the expense of gas product yield, and BC obtained the highest gas yield (43.10 wt%). Zn promoted the selectivity of aromatic hydrocarbons in bio-oil, Zr could effectively improve the yield of syngas and upgrading bio-oil, respectively. Zr-modified multi-catalyst was prepared, and the highest syngas yield (91.54 vol%) and aromatic hydrocarbon products were obtained. Among them, the selectivity of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs) reached 21.82%. The mechanism of MVP of biomass under the effect of Zn/Zr modified different catalysts was proposed. The study has successfully demonstrated an approach for producing high-value bio-oil and bio-syngas from microwave multi-catalyst pyrolytic system.

Herein, degradation of ofloxacin (OFX) by pulsed discharge plasma (PDP) coupled with multi-catalysis using graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites was inspected. The graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis, and their morphology, specific surface area, chemical bond structure and magnetic property were characterized systematically. Compared with sole Fe 3 O 4 , the specific surface area of graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites increased from 26.34 m 2 /g to 125.04 m 2 /g. The prepared graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites had higher paramagnetism and the magnetic strength reached 66.05 emu/g, which was prone to separate from solution. Graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites could further accelerate OFX degradation compared to sole Fe 3 O 4 . When graphene content was 18 wt%, graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites exhibited the highest catalytic activity , and the removal efficiency of OFX enhanced from 65.0% (PDP alone) to 99.9%. 0.23 g/L dosage and acid solution were beneficial for OFX degradation. Higher stability of graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites could be maintained although four times use. Graphene-Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites could catalyze H 2 O 2 and O 3 to produce more ·OH. The degradation products of OFX were identified by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and ion chromatography (IC). According to the identified products and discrete Fourier transform (DFT), the degradation pathway was inferred. Further toxicity assessment of products manifested that the toxicity of oral rat 50% lethal dose (LD 50 ) and the developmental toxicity of OFX were reduced.

Nickel sulfides decorated reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has been produced by co-reducing Ni 2+ and graphene oxide (GO), and is subsequently ball milled with Mg nanoparticles (NPs) produced by hydrogen plasma metal reaction (HPMR). The nickel sulfides of about 800 nm completely in situ change to MgS, Mg 2 Ni and Ni multiple catalysts after first hydrogenation/dehydrogenation process at 673 K. The Mg-5wt%NiS/rGO nanocomposite shows the highest hydrogen desorption kinetics and capacity properties, and the catalytic effect order of the additives is NiS/rGO, NiS and rGO. At 573 K, the Mg-NiS/rGO nanocomposite can quickly desorb 3.7 wt% H 2 in 10 min and 4.5 wt% H 2 in 60 min. The apparent hydrogen absorption and desorption activation energies of the Mg-5wt%NiS/rGO nanocomposite are decreased to 44.47 and 63.02 kJ mol −1 , smaller than those of the Mg-5wt%rGO and Mg-5wt%NiS samples. The best hydrogen desorption properties of the Mg-5wt%NiS/rGO nanocomposite can be explained by the synergistic catalytic effects of the highly dispersed MgS, Mg 2 Ni and Ni catalysts on the rGO sheets, and the more nucleation sites between the catalysts, rGO sheets and Mg matrix.

Progesterone (P4) belongs to a factor that affects stress response and is a potential carcinogen, and saliva levels are expected to be a standard measurement for clinical diagnosis. In this study, a new type of nanoflower with both recognition functionality and catalytic substrate ability was prepared by copper phosphate, Pt/IrO2 nanocomposites (Pt/IrO2 NPs), streptavidin (SA) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) via a one-pot co-precipitation strategy. Due to the enhanced catalytic activity and stability of Pt/IrO2@SA@HRP nanoflowers, we developed a powerful and sensitive multiple-catalysis ELISA to monitor progesterone in saliva. Multiple-catalysis ELISA based on a specific antibody and Pt/IrO2@SA@HRP nanoflowers exhibited a linear interval range from 0.217 ng mL−1 to 7.934 ng mL−1. The median inhibitory concentration (IC50) for progesterone is 1.311 ng mL−1 and the limit of detection (LOD = IC10) is 0.076 ng mL−1 in the proposed method. Satisfactory recoveries were in a range of 79.6–107% with an acceptable coefficient of variation (below 10.6%). Results of the multiple-catalysis ELISA and LC-MS/MS had a good coincidence. Our result unraveled that multiple-catalysis ELISA is a potentially serviceable tool for the detection of progesterone in saliva.

Emerging evidence demonstrates that inducing ferroptosis, a nonapoptotic programmed cell death mode, holds significant potential for tumor treatment. However, current ferroptosis strategies utilizing exogenous Fenton-type heavy metal species or introducing glutathione (GSH)/glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) suppressants are hampered by latent adverse effects toward organisms, while utilizing endogenous iron may cause undesirable tumor angiogenesis through specific signaling pathways. Here, a ferric ion (Fe 3+ )-responsive and DNAzyme-delivered coordination nanosystem (ZDD) is developed to achieve a novel scheme of synergistic tumor-specific ferroptosis and gene therapy, which modulates and harnesses the endogenous iron in tumors for inducing ferroptosis while intercepting tumor angiogenesis to enhance therapeutic efficacy. Profiting from the characteristic coordination structure and components, ZDD can not only specifically capture tumor endogenous Fe 3+ into the tumor cells to promote the catalytic generation of hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and superoxide anions (O 2 · − ) under acidic environment and the catalytic GSH oxidation, arousing potent ferroptotic cell death, but also effectively deliver specific DNAzyme and release abundant zinc ion (Zn 2+ ) as a powerful cofactor to activate the biocatalytic cleavage of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) gene for angiogenesis suppression. Ultimately, the ZDD-enabled synergistic therapy prominently inhibited tumor growth and prevented metastasis, representing a promising nanotherapeutic formula for safe and efficient tumor therapy.
