Controlled fabrication of materials by surface modification techniques has been a hot research topic. In this paper, one-dimensional (1D) core-shell structure Fe@Co nanowires (NWs) were successfully prepared by anchoring 0-dimensional (0D) Co nanoparticles on 1D Fe NWs based on the in situ reduction method. The electromagnetic parameters of the specimens at a filler mass fraction of 25 wt% were tested and the microwave loss mechanism was deeply analyzed. Binary magnetic metals in a core-shell structure have excellent multi-band microwave absorption capability (S-band, X-band and Ku-band). This is due to the heterogeneous interface and magnetic coupling effects tuning the dielectric and magnetic loss. This study offers a workable plan for creating effective multi-band magnetic metal-based microwave absorbers.

Microwave absorption materials can protect humanity from harmful electromagnetic radiation , but it is still a challenge to absorb electromagnetic radiation with different bands simultaneously. Herein, an effective strategy for obtaining WSe 2 @CNTs nanohybrids is reported. The conductive network and polarization of WSe 2 @CNTs nanohybrids can be tailored by confinedly implanting WSe 2 nanosheets on multi-walled carbon nanotubes. The electromagnetic properties and microwave absorption performance of the nanohybrids are effectively adjusted via changing the hybrid ratio of WSe 2 and CNTs . Multi-band microwave absorption is achieved with up to three bands. The reflection loss (RL) of the sample can reach −60.1 dB, and the bandwidth can reach 4.24 GHz (RL ≤ −10 dB). The excellent microwave absorption performance is attributed to the conductance and multiple relaxations, as well as the synergistic effect of the two. This result confirms that WSe 2 @CNTs nanohybrids are potential candidates for high-efficiency microwave absorbers and provide a valuable pathway for designing high-performance microwave absorption materials in the future.

Developing advanced electromagnetic wave-absorbing materials capable of operating across multiple frequency bands remains a significant challenge. However, such materials have the potential to reform electromagnetic interference mitigation and communication technologies. Herein, a hydrothermal method was proposed to synthesize 3D CuS/ZnS snowflakes for microwave absorption. Experimental results demonstrate that 3D CuS/ZnS composites exhibit selective absorption of electromagnetic waves in multiple frequency bands. The surface morphology of these heterostructures significantly contributes to their microwave absorption properties in the X, and Ku bands. Notably, the reflection loss (RL) peak value of -43.60 dB and an effective (EAB) of 5.1 GHz were achieved at an absorber thickness of 2.7 mm. The synergistic interplay among various dielectric loss such as dipole and interfacial polarization was investigated to clarify the nanocomposite’s contribution to its superior electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities. Additionally, the radar cross section (RCS) of the absorber samples was calculated using CST Studio Suite, confirming the effectiveness of the absorbent coating in reducing RCS at various angles. It offers valuable insights into the development of advanced materials for electromagnetic absorption, potentially leading to technological advancements in practical applications such as radar cross section reduction.
