Among various emerging energy technologies, triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have garnered significant attention owing to their ability to convert environmental mechanical energy into electrical energy through the triboelectric effect and electrostatic induction. However, there are some problems with optimizing the electrical output and conversion efficiency of TENGs. This paper presents a high-performance TENG enhanced with BaTiO₃ nanowires(BTONWs) using electrospinning technology. PVDF was doped with BTONWs to fabricate TENGs with high flexibility and efficient energy conversion. BaTiO₃ and PVDF all exhibited inherent properties and triboelectric properties, maximizing the conversion of pressure into electrical energy output. This integration effectively enhances the conversion power and provides a continuous energy supply. Experimental results show that the fabricated TENGs achieved a current and voltage of 12 μA and 280 V, respectively, with a maximum power density of 1.45 W/m 2 at a load resistance of 90 MΩ. In addition, the performance of the TENGs was tested using a calculator, timer, and LED lights. By connecting to a simple external circuit and continuously tapping the TENG, the devices functioned normally, demonstrating that the TENG can constantly and stably output electrical energy by continuously collecting mechanical energy to power microgenerators. This work may significantly contribute to developing energy harvesting, wearable devices, and micropower sources.

Piezoelectric polymer textiles offer distinct advantages in the fabrication of wearable nanogenerators (NGs). One effective strategy to enhance the output capacity of NGs is to modulate the piezoelectric performance of the textiles. This paper focuses on further improving the piezoelectric properties of nylon-11,11 textiles through post-drawing and annealing treatments. We elucidate the evolution of morphology and the ferroelectric phase in the submicron/nanoscale fibers during post processing as well as the corresponding changes in performance. The drawing process primarily enhances the orientation of the crystalline phase and reduces the fiber diameter, while the annealing process more effectively promotes the crystal size and crystallinity. Afterward, we propose an optimal postdrawing and annealing assisted-electrostatic spinning process. Under the synergistic effects of these post-treatments, the remanent polarization (Pr) of nylon-11,11 textile increased to 4.7 times that of the untreated textile, resulting in amplified piezoelectric outputs. The output voltage, current, and power density of the prepared PENG reached 21.5 V, 800 nA, and 1.88 mW·m–2 (80 MΩ), respectively. Notably, at pressures exceeding 8 kPa, the mechano-voltage and current sensitivity reached as high as 266 mV/kPa and 13.99 nA/kPa, respectively, which is extraordinary compared to other piezoelectric NGs and comparable to the performance of nylon-based triboelectric NGs. Furthermore, we investigated the potential application of the prepared PENG in biomechanical energy harvesting and human movement monitoring. Experiments demonstrated its effectiveness in powering light bulbs, tracking walking status, and monitoring finger/hand/wrist gestures.

Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) selectively localize in the polyamide 11 (PA11) phase of polylactic acid (PLA)/PA11 immiscible blends, regardless of whether PA11 is the continuous or dispersed phase, due to favorable interfacial interactions, as confirmed by morphological and thermodynamic analysis. CNFs-reinforced composites were fabricated via melt processing using functional masterbatches (PLA-g-CNFs and PA11-g-CNFs). At low loadings (0.5–1.0 wt%), CNFs significantly enhance flexural strength and thermal stability, with improved stress transfer and restricted polymer chain mobility contributing to the performance gains. In contrast, higher CNFs loading (up to 3.0 wt%) leads to nanofiller agglomeration, acting as stress concentrators and resulting in reduced tensile strength and ductility. The use of functional masterbatches enables precise control over CNFs dispersion and interfacial design, allowing optimal composite performance through synergistic regulation of filler content and phase localization. Microstructural observations confirm uniform CNFs distribution at low loadings and increasing heterogeneity at higher concentrations. Crystallization behavior analysis reveals accelerated nucleation kinetics in CNF-containing systems. Overall, the incorporation of low-loading CNFs via tailored masterbatches effectively improves the stiffness, strength, and thermal resilience of immiscible PLA/PA11 biocomposites, demonstrating a viable strategy for high-performance sustainable materials.

Moisture in environment can severely decrease the output of the solid-solid triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) which usually hinders their further practical applications. To solve this problem, we report a modified cellulose material that achieves enhanced electrical output property at high humidity by acquiring universal dual-electric-polarity augmented property. This material shows enhanced contact electrification performance when contacted with different electrode materials. Results show that the electrical output of the TENG composed of cyanoethyl cellulose (CE-cellulose) with poly tetra fluoroethylene (PTFE) and nylon 11 (PA 11) increased by 4 and 8 times. Moreover, the triboelectric charge density (TECD) of CE-cellulose-PTFE based TENG at 95%RH is 533 μC/m 2 , which is a new record for the electrical output of TENG in high humidity environment. This work opens new avenues to the development of TENGs for energy harvesting and self-powered sensors under the real working conditions, especially in high humidity environments, even in the presence of water droplets.

Smart wearable electronics with harvest energy are rapidly developing in modern life. Fiber-based triboelectric generators (TENGs) are gaining extensive attention for energy harvesting and human motion sensing, due to flexible, lightweight, and comfortable properties. However, it is difficult to coordinate the high electrical output performance of fiber-based TENGs with the requirements of human wearing comfort (abrasion resistant, air permeability and skin-friendliness). Herein, a novel nano-micro structure yarn (NMSY) with three layers was proposed via combining conjugated electrospinning as well as ring spinning together. Therein, electrospinning Nylon 11 nanofibers were applied as the intermediate layer to enhance electrical output performance and ring spinning polyester fibers wrapped as the outermost layer to improve abrasion resistance . The obtained NMSY exhibits high output voltage (17.5 V in 3.5 cm) and wear resistance (4500 abrasion cycles). Furthermore, an electronic textile (e-textile) was knitted with NMSY (2.5 × 2.5 cm 2 ), which exhibited a power density of 487.8 mW/m 2 at a load resistance of 700 MΩ. Owing to the unique interconnected loop structure of knitted textiles, NMSY e-textile shows good air permeability (147.3 mm/s), water vapor transmission rate (3470 g/(m 2 ·24h)) and excellent skin-friendly. In practical application, NMSY e-textile can lit up 22 LEDs and also can charge the commercial capacitors efficiently. Besides, NMSY as well as the corresponding e-textile can also be used as self-powered sensors to monitor body movement. In summary, the superior NMSY presented in this work could enhance energy harvest and wearability, which would pave the way toward full-fledged commercialization of the TENGs in the future.
