The core–shell droplets have the characteristics of stable micro-environment, small volume, large specific surface, which means wider application prospects in micro reactors, functional material synthesis and other fields. However, how to realize the controllable preparation of high flux, high resolution and small size for core–shell droplets is still the key point to be broken through. In this paper, the coaxial electrohydrodynamic printing (EHD) technology is used to combine the real-time microcurrent signal with the behavior characteristics of core–shell droplets, both achieve the interface behavior characteristics of the nozzle droplets to be analyzed and clarify the microcurrent behavior when the core–shell droplets are generated. At the same time, the influence of the inner and outer solution supply rate on the core–shell droplet was investigated. When the supply rate of inner solution changes from 10 μl/h increases to 90 μl/h, the average current increased from 0.0153 μA to 0.0652 μA, but also the droplet generation frequency raised by 14 times, moreover, the average diameter of droplets could be reduced by half. In contrast, the change of outer shell supply rate has less influence on the average current, generation frequency and diameter of droplets. This research provides a possibility for controllable high resolution of core–shell droplet EHD printing, which can be helpful significantly to improve the functional characteristics of the macroscopic and microstructure of the core–shell droplet.

Although microcurrent stimulation (MCS) has been demonstrated to enhance tissue repair, a significant limitation of MCS in clinical applications is the scarcity of suitable biomaterials, which can effectively deliver microcurrents while conforming well to bone tissue. In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene oxide (GO) were incorporated into double-network hydrogels synthesized from gelatin and polyacrylamide (PAAm) to render the hydrogels conductive. CNTs were identified as the optimal nanofillers via simulations and experimental investigations. The optimal gelation and mechanical properties of the hydrogel are achieved when the initiator content is 0.8 wt%. The obtained conductive hydrogel exhibits mechanical properties of 0.23 MPa, meeting the biomechanical requirements. When both CNT and GO are added at 1.0 wt%, the conductivity of the CNT-included composite hydrogel is 10.17 times that of the GO-included hydrogel. Meanwhile, this CNT-doped composite hydrogel demonstrates excellent biocompatibility. Upon implantation of the hydrogel into an animal model with skull defects followed by electrical stimulation, it was confirmed that these hydrogels can promote skull repair. This conductive hydrogel holds promise in addressing current challenges related to material acquisition difficulties and postoperative infection risks associated with bone repair procedures.

Diabetic wounds with complex pathological features and a difficult-to-heal nature remain a formidable challenge. To address this challenge, we design and fabricate a self-powered enzyme-linked microneedle (MN) patch composed of anode and cathode MN arrays, which respectively contain glucose oxidase (GOx) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) encapsulated in ZIF-8 nanoparticles. The enzymatic cascade reaction in the MN patch can effectively reduce local hyperglycemia in diabetic wounds while generating stable microcurrents to promote rapid healing of diabetic wounds. Therefore, the diabetic wounds treated with this MN patch exhibit rapid, complete, and scar-preventative healing, which can be attributed to the synergistic actions of hypoglycemic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and bioelectrical stimulation. In brief, the self-powered MN patch is an effective method to rapidly promote diabetic wound healing and prevent scar formation.

Metal–organic framework (MOFs) derived magnetic nanoparticles/porous carbon (M/C) composites featuring efficient interfacial engineering and spatially continuous three-dimensional (3D) networks are desirable electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials due to multiple transmission path and well impedance matching. However, it is challenging to construct such 3D interconnected carbon networks from a single MOF precursor. Herein, FeNi3 and N embedded 3D carbon networks comprising bamboo-like carbon nanotubes connected carbon nanorods (FeNi@CNT/CNRs) were prepared via one-step pyrolyzing of the composite of melamine and FeNi-MIL-88B. Attributed to the synergistic contributions of 3D interconnected carbon nanotube networks and MOFs derived M/C for multiple transmission path, impedance matching, and dielectric loss (especially for multiple polarization and micro-current), the FeNi@CNT/CNRs nanoarchitectures have demonstrated superior EMW absorbing performance. In particular, the optimized FeNi@CNT/CNR-0.9 has exhibited strong absorption (−47.0 dB, 2.3 mm in thickness) and broadband effective absorption (4.5 GHz, 1.6 mm in thickness). This attractive strategy holds promise as a general approach to fabricate the carbon hybrid network constituted of MOFs derived nanopolyhedron and CNTs for the target application.

Electrical stimulation (ES) is proposed as a therapeutic solution for managing chronic wounds. However, its widespread clinical adoption is limited by the requirement of additional extracorporeal devices to power ES-based wound dressings. In this study, a novel sandwich-structured photovoltaic microcurrent hydrogel dressing (PMH dressing) is designed for treating diabetic wounds. This innovative dressing comprises flexible organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells, a flexible micro–electro–mechanical systems (MEMS) electrode, and a multifunctional hydrogel serving as an electrode–tissue interface. The PMH dressing is engineered to administer ES, mimicking the physiological injury current occurring naturally in wounds when exposed to light; thus, facilitating wound healing. In vitro experiments are performed to validate the PMH dressing's exceptional biocompatibility and robust antibacterial properties. In vivo experiments and proteomic analysis reveal that the proposed PMH dressing significantly accelerates the healing of infected diabetic wounds by enhancing extracellular matrix regeneration, eliminating bacteria, regulating inflammatory responses, and modulating vascular functions. Therefore, the PMH dressing is a potent, versatile, and effective solution for diabetic wound care, paving the way for advancements in wireless ES wound dressings.
