Water/diesel-cyclopentylamine and water/diesel-cyclopentanone emulsions were used to store natural gas during hydrate formation. First, cyclopentylamine (-amine) and cyclopentanone (-anone) were tested as thermodynamic promoters for CH4 hydrate formation in water/diesel (w/o) emulsions. The kinetics of CH4 hydrate formation in the w/o-amine and w/o-anone emulsions were then investigated. It was found that the promotional effect of both cyclopentylamine and cyclopentanone on CH4 storage in the hydrate phase was much better than that of cyclopentane, with the highest gas storage amount reaching 201.7 m3/m3, which is close to the ideal value (220 m3/m3), and the water-to-hydrate conversion ratio was higher than 90%. The main hydration reaction process was completed in 50 min, with the reaction rate reaching 2.3 mmol/min, which is higher than that reported for aqueous solutions. It should be noted that this was the first time that cyclopentylamine was tested and it showed good thermodynamic and kinetic stimulation effects on gas hydrate formation. The suitable CH4 hydrate formation conditions including the additional amount of promoters, temperature, pressure, and water cut range were determined to be approximately 20 wt %, 274.15–278.15 K, 5.0–6.0 MPa, and 20 wt %, respectively. The storage and transport pressure for the formed hydrate products could be decreased to less than 1 MPa. The significant gas storage amount was further supported by laser Raman analysis, which confirmed that the CH4 molecules were trapped in the small and large cages of the formed SII hydrate. Meanwhile, the formed hydrate/diesel slurries exhibited good dispersion features.

The hot injection method is a commonly employed technique for the synthesis of perovskite nanoparticles that are subsequently used in the fabrication of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, this method presents a significant challenge related to the removal of ligands and the purification of nanoparticles. The issue arises from the use of long-chain ligands that are crucial for stabilizing the nanoparticles during their synthesis. These long-chain ligands, while serving their purpose during nanoparticle formation, can pose hindrances when the nanoparticles are integrated into a solar cell. Here, we prepared CsPbIBr2 nanoparticles stabilized with a short-chain ligand, amylamine (C5H13N). These nanoparticles were used to create nanoparticle films without the need for additional cleaning and purification steps. Subsequently, a high-quality bulk film was obtained by heat treatment. Additionally, we introduced a fast dual-step centrifugal deposition method differing from the conventional layer-to-layer spin coating approach. Films produced using this dual-step centrifugal deposition method exhibited a grain size of approximately 220 nm and near-vertical growth. As a result, our perovskite solar cells achieved a superior power conversion efficiency (PCE) exceeding 7.1%. This simplified and expeditious fabrication method holds promising implications for streamlining the perovskite solar cell production process in the future.

CsPbBr 3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have been considered as potential luminescent materials for lighting and display applications. The oleylamine (OLA) is usually considered to be an indispensable surface ligand in the synthesis of PQDs. However, the long-chain amines can cause more surface defects, resulting in the poor stability and optical performance, which will greatly limit its practical application. Herein, the n-amylamine (ALA) with short carbon chain has been chosen to replace the OLA as surface ligand to synthesize the CsPbBr 3 PQDs. Under the synergic action of oleic acid (OA), ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs with enhanced air/thermal stability and optical properties can be obtained through a modified hot-injection method. The ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs possess highly monodisperse cubic morphologies (∼10 nm edge lengths), which are similar to the OLA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs. Meanwhile, ligand substitution does not alter the crystal structure, and maintain the cubic crystal structure of CsPbBr 3 . The synthesized ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs exhibits a PLQY of 91.3 %, significantly higher than that of OLA-CsPbBr 3 (70.42 %). Photo-stability test indicates that ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs are markedly more stable than OLA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs, owing to the passivation of the surface defects. Furthermore, the activation energy of ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs (570.8 meV) is higher than OLA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs (495.4 meV), indicating the ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs have the much higher thermal stability. In addition, the ALA-CsPbBr 3 PQDs can also be efficiently excited by X-rays, showing a linear response to X-ray radiation, and have good X-ray imaging capability. The CsPbBr 3 PQDs with enhanced stability and optical properties, which are modified by short carbon-chain surface ligands, can further strengthen the competitiveness of PQDs for optoelectronic device applications.

ABSTRACT Owing to the wide application of primary amines, their selective production via reductive amination has become a crucial research topic. Various metal-supported catalysts (Pt, Ru, Rh, Ir, Co, Ni, etc. ) have been investigated, and metallic species have been recognized as active sites in recent years. Herein, we reveal for the first time that CoO species containing oxygen vacancies within a core-shell-structured Co@CoO catalyst accelerate the ammonolysis of Schiff bases, key intermediates in reductive amination, through NH 3 dissociation to hydride-like NH 2 δ – species, delivering an excellent reductive amination performance. The catalyst is highly stable and was utilized in 10 catalytic cycles for the amination of biomass-derived cyclopentanone (CPO) to cyclopentylamine (CPA) without deactivation. Various computational models in combination with spectroscopic measurements indicated that this catalyst not only drives the dissociation of H 2 to the active H δ – species, but also enables the homolytic cleavage of NH 3 to NH 2 δ – . D 2 isotopic tracing experiments provided further evidence of the direct involvement of hydride-like NH 2 δ – species in Schiff base ammonolysis. Theoretical calculations verified the stable co-adsorption of H δ – and NH 2 δ – , which allows the Schiff base to move freely on the surface of the CoO shell and participate extensively in molecular collisions, resulting in exceptional catalytic activity. This is the first study that demonstrates the potential of metal oxide catalysts for the production of primary amines via reductive amination.
