Halide perovskites exhibit outstanding optoelectronic properties, which make them an ideal choice for photocatalytic CO 2 reduction and benzyl alcohol (BA) oxidation. Nevertheless, the simultaneous realization of the above redox coupling reactions on halide perovskites remains a great challenge, as it requires distinct catalytic sites for different target reactions. Herein, the catalytic sites of Cs 2 AgBiCl 6 (CABC) are regulated by doping Fe for efficient coupling of photocatalytic CO 2 reduction and BA oxidation. The Fe-doped CABC (Fe: CABC) exhibits an enhanced visible-light response and effective charge separation. Experimental results and theoretical calculations reveal a synergistic interplay between Bi and Fe sites, where the Bi and Fe sites have lower activation energies toward CO 2 reduction and BA oxidation. Further investigations demonstrate that electrons and holes prefer to accumulate at the Bi site and Fe site under light irradiation, respectively, which creates favorable conditions for facilitating CO 2 reduction and BA oxidation. The resultant Fe: CABC achieves a high photocatalytic performance toward CO (18.5 µmol g −1 h −1 ) and BD (1.1 mmol g −1 h −1 ) generation, which surpasses most of the state-of-the-art halide photocatalysts. This work demonstrates a facile strategy for regulating the catalytic site for redox coupling reactions, which will pave a new way for designing halide perovskites for photocatalysis.

4-Nitrophenol (4-NP) is a typical organic pollutant, thus it is urgent to detect it in environmental samples. This study rationally designed a novel electrode material of P-doping Fe/Fe3O4@C (P-Fe/Fe3O4@C) prepared with MIL-88 as precursor. P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700 was synthesized by calcining MIL-88 at 700 °C, followed by annealing process with NaH2PO2 for 2 h. The P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700 modified glassy carbon electrode (P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700/GCE) showed a high electrocatalytic activity toward 4-NP reduction due to its active metal center, fine-tuned electronic structure by P-doping, as well as good electrical conductivity. It exhibited excellent sensing behaviors in 4-NP detection with rather high sensitivities of 1415.43 μA·mM−1·cm−2 and 424.63 μA·mM−1·cm−2 in the 4-NP concentration of 5 to 100 μM and 100 to 1200 μM, respectively, with a low detection limit of 0.462 μM. The P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700/GCE still had good selectivity for 4-NP detection in the presence of common interferences. In addition, it was found that the current response towards 4-NP at P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700/GCE retained more than 97% of its initial value after one week, indicating a good long-term stability. Furthermore, the P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700/GCE exhibited a good reproducibility. The constructed P2h-Fe/Fe3O4@C-700/GCE achieved practical uses for the sensing of 4-NP in tap water with satisfactory recoveries.

The exploration of noble metal-free catalysts with efficient electrochemical performance toward oxygen reduction reaction in the acid electrolyte is very important for the development of fuel cells technology. Novel pyrolyzed heteroatom-doped Fe/N/C catalysts have been regarded as the most efficient electrocatalytic materials for ORR due to their tunable electronic structure, and distinctive chemical and physical properties. Herein, nitrogen- and sulfur-doped (Fe/N/C and Fe/N/C-S) electrocatalysts were synthesized using ferric chloride hexahydrate as the Fe precursor, N-rich polymer as N precursor, and Ketjen Black EC-600 (KJ600) as the carbon supports. Among these electrocatalysts, the as prepared S and N-doped Fe/N/C-S reveals the paramount ORR activity with a positive half-wave potential value (E1/2) 0.82 at 0.80 V vs. RHE in 0.1 mol/L H2SO4 solution, which is comparable to the commercial Pt/C (Pt 20 wt%) electrocatalyst. The mass activity of the Fe/N/C-S catalyst can reach 45% (12.7 A g−1 at 0.8 V) and 70% (5.3 A g−1 at 0.95 V) of the Pt/C electrocatalyst in acidic and alkaline solutions. As result, ORR activity of PGM-free electrocatalysts measured by the rotating-ring disk electrode method increases in the following order: Fe/N/C

Regulating the atomic coordination ambiance of uniformly distributed single atoms (SAs) via heteroatom doping is an up-and-coming method to facilitate the catalytic activity for oxygen reduction reactions (ORR). With the cooperative interaction of dual heteroatom doping supplied extra degrees of freedom, a greater efficiency of ORR can be realized via a reduction in intermediate energy barrier during catalytic reactions. Here, we explore a fresh approach to generate N, S co-doped Fe-SA in embedded porous carbon nanosheets/carbon nanotubes (Fe-N X @NSCST-ZL) utilizing a 2D leaf-shaped MOF as a template in this work. Taking advantage of the combined effect of carbon matrix and nanotubes as well as the abundance of Fe-N X active sites and thiophene-S, the Fe-N X @NSCST-ZL provides exceptional performance for ORRs with a half-wave potential of 0.94 V at alkaline conditions, 0.77 V at acidic conditions, and 0.74 V at neutral conditions (V vs. RHE). Furthermore, Fe-N X @NSCST-ZL-based Zn-air battery, as well as quasi solid-state flexible battery, maintain steady operation for 765 h and 30 h with a small discharge/charge interval, respectively. This work contributes perspectives on the reasonable design of economical single-atom catalysts (SACs) for applications in energy conversion that have outstanding electrocatalytic potential.
