Effervescent-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction based on the solidification of floating organic droplets for the determination of fungicides in vinegar and juice

Xu Jing,Jiaying Zhang,Junling Zhu,Zhenjia Chen,Li Yi,Xiaowen Wang

A method of effervescent-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction based on the solidification of a floating organic droplet is reported. This approach was used to measure the fungicides myclobutanil, tebuconazole and epoxiconazole in vinegar and juice. Acidic vinegar and juice reacted with the carbonate to produce effervescence in situ, which then promoted contact of the sample with the extraction solvent. The 1-dodecanol extraction solvent helped solidify the floating organic droplets and could be fully dispersed by effervescence. The extraction solvent, salt, carbonate, and extraction time were optimised. The optimal conditions were 200 μL of 1-dodecanol, 100 mg of sodium chloride, 50 mg of sodium bicarbonate, and 30 s of extraction time. The proposed method has good linearity between 10 and 1000 ng mL−1. Recoveries were between 70.4% and 103.1% in different vinegar and juice samples. This method was successfully used to measure fungicides in vinegar and juice. This system is simple, fast and environmentally friendly.

An effervescence-assisted microextraction for parabens in foodstuffs based on deep eutectic solvent composed of methyltrioctyl ammonium chloride and decanoic acid

Jiangping Cao,Lei Shi,Yifei He,Tingting Wang,Baizhao Zeng,Faqiong Zhao

An efficient and ecofriendly effervescence-assisted emulsification microextraction approach based on hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (EA-EME-DES) was developed for the sensitive chromatographic determination of parabens (i.e., methyl-, ethyl-, propyl- and butylparaben) in foodstuffs. The DES extractant consisted of methyltrioctyl ammonium chloride (MTAC) and decanoic acid (DecA) (1:3, mol/mol), and had high hydrophobicity , solubility and stability. During the microextraction procedure, sodium carbonate was introduced to facilitate the dissolution of parabens in aqueous solution, DES dispersion and phase separation by enhancing solution pH and generating CO 2 bubbles. The developed method exhibited satisfactory linearity (R 2  ≥ 0.9986), detection limits (0.01–0.03 μg/g), quantitation limits (0.04–0.09 μg/g), recoveries (87.8% to 111%, with RSDs of 0.8% to 5%) and negligible matrix effects, hence it had remarkable effectiveness and applicability in determining parabens in complex foodstuffs.

Wenxuan Li,Yaxi Xu,Meifei Wang,Yuyang Wang,Jinchao Wei,Di Chen

A simple and efficient effervescence-assisted salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction (EA-SALLE) method was developed for the rapid extraction of pyrethroid insecticides in fruit juices and herbal extracts. By integrating effervescence extraction with SALLE, the extraction and phase separation processes were conducted simultaneously, significantly simplifying the experimental procedure and reducing the extraction time to just 3 min. Key factors influencing the method's efficiency were systematically optimized. Combined with gas chromatography with an electron capture detector, enabled the determination of nine pyrethroid insecticides, demonstrating excellent linearity (R 2  > 0.99), low limits of detection (0.03–0.17 ng/mL), satisfactory accuracy (recoveries ranging from 83.0 % to 107.9 %), and good precision (RSD < 9.1 %). The proposed EA-SALLE method offers a simple, efficient, and cost-effective sample preparation technique. It is characterized by ease of operation, short extraction time, and high sensitivity, providing an effective tool for the monitoring and assessment of pesticide residues in complex samples.

An ionic liquid-based nanofluid of titanium dioxide nanoparticles for effervescence-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid extraction for acaricide detection

Xiaoling Wu,Xin Li,Miyi Yang,Haozhe Zeng,Sanbing Zhang,Runhua Lu,Haixiang Gao,Donghui Xu

Phytophagous mites are usually considered a difficult problem for agricultural planting, and acaricides are applied to control diseases and pests. However, the overdose and misusage of acaricides causes pesticide residues. In this work, a simple and practical ionic liquid-based TiO 2 nanofluid, effervescence-assisted, dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (EA-DLLME) method was developed to detect acaricides in honey and tea by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC-DAD). Oleophilic TiO 2 nanoparticles were synthesized by a facile solvothermal method to obtain greater stability of the nanofluid. The experimental parameters were optimized by a one-factor-at-a-time approach and included the effervescent tablet composition, ionic liquid selection, extractant composition, nanofluid volume, extraction temperature, extraction time and desorption conditions. Under the optimized conditions, the linear ranges of this proposed method were 0.5–500   μg   L −1 , with correlation coefficients in the range of 0.9985–1.0000. The extraction efficiencies for the target analytes varied from 70.70 to 84.58%. The detection and quantitation limits were in the ranges of 0.04–0.18   μg   L −1 and 0.13–0.60   μg   L −1 , respectively. The intra- and inter-day relative standard deviations ( n   =   3) were found to range from 2.32 to 5.71%, which showed perfect repeatability. Overall, the EA-DLLME method was time-saving and environmentally friendly, with future potential for microextraction.

Simultaneous effervescence-assisted microextraction and magnetic adsorbent generation for rapid and cost-effective organochlorine pesticides analysis

Wenxuan Li,Qinfeng Zhang,Yuwei Liu,Bowen Deng,Yuanyuan Zheng,Jun Li,Di Chen

This study introduced an innovative magnetic effervescence-assisted microextraction method, streamlining the preparation of effervescent tablets through a one-pot method that blends a CO 2 donor (Na 2 CO 3 ) and an H + donor (NaH 2 PO 4 ) with bare magnetic particles (Fe 3 O 4 ) and an adsorbent (hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes), followed by pressing. During the extraction process, the bare magnetic particles and adsorbent undergo in-situ self-assembly to create a magnetic adsorbent. The effervescence generates bubbles that enhance effective extraction and magnetism facilitates the easy separation of the magnetic adsorbent from the sample solution, completing the process within 4 min. Applied to organochlorine pesticide analysis in fruit juices and herbal extracts, the method exhibits excellent linearity (R 2  > 0.993), sensitivity (detection limits: 0.010–0.125 ng/mL), accuracy (recoveries: 85.8–99.9%), and precision (RSDs < 9.7%) with GC-ECD. Overall, this approach stands out for its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and suitability for on-site analysis, owing to its operational ease and independence from specialized equipment.

Effervescence-assisted β-cyclodextrin/attapulgite composite for the in-syringe dispersive solid-phase extraction of pyrethroids in environmental water samples

Xiaoling Yang,Panjie Zhang,Xiaobing Li,Lu Hu,Haixiang Gao,Sanbing Zhang,Wenfeng Zhou,Runhua Lu

In this research, an effervescence-assisted β-cyclodextrin/attapulgite composite (β-CD/ATP) for the in-syringe dispersive solid-phase extraction (EAIS-DSPE) of pyrethroids in environmental samples was developed for the first time. A syringe was used to conduct the extraction procedure and a small amount of β-CD/ATP was dispersed into the solution with the release of carbon dioxide when the effervescent tablet components dissolved in water. Then, the sorbent was recovered using a filter membrane , and the analytes were directly eluted using acetonitrile . In the process, the β-CD/ATP sorbent resulted in an excellent extraction efficiency compared to commercially available sorbents such as C 18 and HLB. Moreover, in the extraction procedure, both the β-cyclodextrin inclusion interactions (especially the hydrophobic effects) and the special structure of the ATP contributed to the efficient enrichment of pyrethroids in aqueous media. The amount of β-CD/ATP sorbent, the volume of desorption, the ratio of NaH 2 PO 4 /Na 2 CO 3 , the volume of the sample, and the pH were screened using a Plackett–Burman design. All factors affecting the procedure were optimized by applying a central composite design. Under the optimized conditions, a good repeatability (RSDs) ranging from 1.7 to 2.3, linearity (2.5–500   μg   L −1 ), limits of detection (LODs) (0.15–1.03   μg   L −1 ), and an acceptable recoveries (76.8–86.5%) were achieved. Finally, the proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of pyrethroids in environmental samples including river water, reservoir water and lake water.

Surfactant-Free Synthesis of Three-Dimensional Metallic Nanonetworks via Nanobubble-Assisted Self-Assembly

Jun Li,Xiaosi Liang,Liying Cai,Chenyang Zhao

Three-dimensional metallic nanonetworks (3D-MNWs) demonstrate unique performances across a wide range of fields, and their facile and green synthetic method is of high significance. Herein, we report a self-generated-nanobubble scaffolding strategy for the fabrication of 3D-MNWs, which employs aqua ammonia (AA) as a nanobubble reservoir and avoids the use of any surfactants or polymeric capping agents. Benefiting from the interaction between ammonia and metallic nanoparticles, finely interlocked nanonetworks (Au, Pt, Ag, and Cu) with curved geometry and abundant pores are obtained by precisely controlling the anisotropic kinetic growth using a strong reducing agent and a high concentration of AA. As a demonstration, the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) is tested to assess the electrocatalytic performance of the Pt 3D-MNWs. The peak current of Pt 3D-MNWs reaches 152 mA/mgPt, which is 2.5 times higher than that of commercial Pt black. This unique nanobubble-assisted strategy has great potential in the basic synthetic prototype for polyporous nanomaterials.

Xueke Liu,Chang Liu,Peng Wang,Guojun Yao,Donghui Liu,Zhiqiang Zhou

A novel effervescence assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction method based on cohesive floating organic drop has been developed for simultaneous determination of triazine herbicides and triazole fungicides in aqueous samples followed by ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography tandem a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. In this method, 1-undecanol as extractant was well dispersed by effervescence. In order to obtain relatively high extraction efficiency, the effects of salt, volume of effervescence mixture, volume of extraction solvent and temperature were investigated. Under the optimum conditions, the proposed method showed good linearity within the range of 0.05–10   μg   L −1 with correlation coefficients of 0.9987–0.9999. The recoveries of analytes were in the range of 72.4–101.5% with relative standard deviations ranging from 2.6% to 11.7%. The limits of detection were varied from 2.7 to 9.7   ng   L −1 . This method has been successfully used to simultaneously analyze triazine herbicides and triazole fungicides in surface waters and grape juice.

Enhanced surface oxygen transfer induced by strong Pd–CeO2 interaction for boosting catalytic soot oxidation

Jiaman Wang,Jing Xiong,Zekai Cui,Yuanfeng Li,Hao Guo,Guilin Liu,Yaxiao Ma,Linsheng Xu,Jinqing Jiao,Jianping Zou,Yuechang Wei

CeO 2 , a pivotal rare earth oxide in environmental catalysis, has garnered extensive interest for soot oxidation owing to its exceptional oxygen storage capacity and oxygen vacancy-rich surfaces. To further optimize catalytic efficiency, we engineered spherical CeO 2 with exposed (111) facets via hydrothermal synthesis and uniformly anchored Pd species through a gas bubbling-assisted membrane reduction (GBMR) strategy. The formation of Pd–O–Ce interfacial units is identified as critical active sites, where metal-support interaction (MSI) significantly enhances oxygen transfer. Notably, the Pd 1.0 /CeO 2 catalyst achieves a remarkable T 50 of 356 °C (14% lower than pristine CeO 2 ), attributed to highly dispersed Pd species and abundant Pd–O–Ce interfaces. In contrast, excessive Pd species loading induces particle agglomeration, weakening MSI effect and catalytic performance. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and density functional thoery (DFT) calculations reveal that the Pd–O–Ce interface promotes NO adsorption – the rate limiting step – by generating electron-rich Pd sites and oxygen vacancies, thereby accelerating NO-to-NO 2 conversion and subsequent soot oxidation. This work highlights the pivotal role of interfacial engineering in optimizing Pd–CeO 2 catalysts, offering a rational design strategy for high-performance soot oxidation systems in diesel emission control.
