Great efforts have been made for H 2 O 2 production by an artificial photosynthetic approach. However, the poor solubility of oxygen in the liquid phase, sluggish mass transfer, and additional concentration step to produce H 2 O 2 have limited the development of this technology. Herein, a unique fluorocarbon/hydrophobic photocatalysts/water system is reported, which ensures an efficient photosynthesis and spontaneous self-separation of H 2 O 2. The presence of an ultra-thin dense gas layer between the perfluorous solvent and the photocatalysts enables rapid oxygen supply through a nano-confinement effect. Thus, a maximum photosynthetic efficiency of 4.9 mM g −1 h −1 of H 2 O 2 is achieved, 6 times higher compared to its counterpart gas–liquid-solid triphase system. Importantly, the independent hierarchical structure of the present system, allows functional applications, such as the Fenton reaction using pre-added Fe 2+ in the aqueous solution. This feature makes the fluorocarbon/water systems is an advantageous one and of extraordinary significance for similar types of gas–liquid reactions.
Paper acidification is the primary factor causing the rapid deterioration of paper documents. To overcome drawbacks of single type of deacidification agent for paper deacidification, the innovative application of a composite deacidification agent was proposed and significantly enhanced the comprehensive performance of the paper and prolonged the stability of acidic paper. The environmentally friendly fluorocarbon solvent of methyl perfluoroisobutyl ether was employed as the main solvent, reducing the harm to operators and the environment. Different calcium magnesium oxide (CaMgO 2 ) nanocomposites were synthesized and their effect on paper performance was explored by comparing the pH, whiteness, tensile strength and alkali reserve of the treated paper samples. The results indicate that owing to the excellent dispersion effect of calcium magnesium oxide in fluorocarbon solvents and their good compatibility with paper fibers, it has the slightest impact on the appearance of paper. Moreover, the pH value is raised from 5 to 9, and the deacidification effect is most remarkable when the molar ratio of Mg to Ca is 0.2:0.8. After the deacidification treatment and artificial aging treatment, the paper performance is still maintained with good pH and mechanical strength and almost no generating ink marks, which is suitable for the protection of ancient books and archives through deacidification.
