Polysiloxanes with amino functional groups exhibit remarkable backbone flexibility, lubricity, and softness, positioning them a promising class of polymer materials. The phosphazene base (Bu-t-P 4 ) serves as an effective catalyst for the ring-opening copolymerization (ROCP) of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D 4 ) and N-β-(aminoethyl)-γ-aminopropylmethyldiethoxysilane (KH-602). Under catalysis by 100 ppm of Bu-t-P 4 at 110 °C for 1 h, high yield of 93.59 % was achieved, resulting in amino silicone oil with a number-average molecular weight of 4.3 × 10 3 g/mol, and a narrow molecular weight distribution (2.00). Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) confirmed that the product's structure corresponds to expected chemical shifts. In situ Raman spectroscopy monitoring and NMR analysis was employed to propose and validate the polymerization mechanism within the Bu-t-P 4 -catalyzed system involving both cyclic and linear monomers. This study demonstrates an effective strategy, affirming that Bu-t-P 4 can be used as an efficient organic catalyst for the modified polysiloxanes.
As a bio-based environmentally friendly material, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) can be applied to automotive trims instead of traditional plastics; However, its flammable properties limit the application scope. In this paper, a multi-component environmentally friendly and efficient halogen-free flame retardant (APMMCC) was prepared by amino silicone oil (ASO)/phosphoric acid (H 3 PO 4 )/melamine (MEL) co-modification. The synergistic modification not only made the surface morphology of microcrystalline cellulose smoother, but also introduced ASO molecules, phosphoric acid and melamine groups, which altered its chemical structure. Thermal degradation tests showed that the thermal stability and char-forming ability of APMMCC were greatly improved. Compared with MCC, APMMCC had stronger combustion-resistance under the flame and showed significant flame retardancy. When the addition content of MCC and MEL is 1:1, the heat release rate, total heat release rate, and smoke release rate of APMMCC were minimized in the current research range. Moreover, the residual char of APMMCC at different temperatures was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared, and a condensed phase and gas phase synergistic flame retardant mechanism was proposed. Multiblock copolymers of polyether-modified amino silicone softener (ETSO-PEA) were successfully synthesized with epoxy-terminated polysiloxane (ETSO) and polyether amine. The chemical structure of ETSO-PEA was characterized by 1 H NMR, FTIR and TGA. Single-factor and orthogonal array design experiments affecting the conversion rate of product were carried out to investigate the optimal reaction conditions. In the first two steps, the data between viscosity/conversion rate and reaction time showed that the two steps were both kinetic first-scale reaction. The application of ETSO-PEA used as softener on cotton fabrics was studied. The results showed that the ETSO-PEA-treated cotton fabrics expressed better hydrophilicity, wettability and whiteness than traditional amino silicone softener-treated samples. The morphology images indicated that the scales and clearance on the surface of the untreated cotton fibers were covered with a smooth film after treating with the silicones solution. Amino silicone softener was fixed onto the cotton fabrics, and the surface was modified with a formation of network structure. Meanwhile, the extent of networking and crosslinking was enhanced a lot, which provided a good soft handle. The polyether segment with less bending on the ETSO-PEA disrupted the continuous arrangement of Si–CH 3 groups and limited the movement of polysiloxane segment, giving the cotton fabric a better hydrophilic and slightly rougher surface than ATSO-treated samples. This work provided an optimized and cost-effective method to synthesize high-performance multiblock polyether functional amino silicone softener.
A “double immobilized” superhydrophobic and lubricated slippery surface was prepared by simultaneously immobilizing lubricating oil and bactericide molecules. The coordination function of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) was utilized to immobilize trimesic acid, a fungicide, as a ligand of the MOF by the cathodic electrodeposition technique. Aminated silicone oil was used as a lubricating oil and was immobilized to the superhydrophobic MOF film by the curing reaction with isocyanates. This technique is a facile strategy to conductive substrates for fabricating superhydrophobic and lubricated slippery surfaces with satisfactory antibacterial and antifouling properties.
