A microbial electrolysis cell was established to explore the degradation characteristics of characteristic pollutants in wastewater for parabromoaniline (P-BrA). Their effects on P-BrA reduction and degradation were investigated through factors such as impressed voltage and cosubstrate type. The P-BrA residue and degradation in wastewater were analysed quantitatively through analytical testing methods, such as ultraviolet–visible, cyclic voltammetry, high-performance liquid chromatograph, and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that under the cathode potential of 0.5 V, electrons and electroactive microorganisms generate coupling action to accelerate the degradation of P-BrA, reaching 94.94%. Moreover, the addition of carbon source organisms, such as glucose and sodium acetate, can facilitate the degradation of P-BrA in the cathode chamber on the precondition that the electroactive anaerobic microbial C/N ratio was satisfied, both reaching over 90%. In addition, the microbial community diversity and richness of bioelectrochemistry system were enhanced after bioaugmentation. The increase in the Anacrolincalcs , Betaproteobacteriales , and Micrococcales also played an important role in the granulation of bioelectrochemistry system and the removal of characteristic pollutants.

In this work, 4-bromoaniline (BrAL) is employed to modify the CsPbI2Br/carbon electrode interface to passivate defects of all-inorganic CsPbI2Br perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The effects of BrAL modification on the structure, light absorption, and trap-state density (Ntrap) of CsPbI2Br films and the carrier recombination process, photoelectrical characteristics, and air stability of the PSCs are systematically studied. The results show that the hydrophobic BrAL interlayer modification can lead to a better matched energy-level alignment, reduce the Ntrap to construct uniform CsPbI2Br films, and suppress carrier recombination to promote charge transport and collection. Thus, the modified PSC achieves a higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 11.34% with less hysteresis (reference-PSC, 9.50%) and better stability in ambient air. The BrAL passivation provides a good strategy to enhance the photoelectrical performance and air stability of all-inorganic PSCs.

The feasibility and superiority of bioelectrochemical systems for the degradation of p -bromoaniline ( p -BrA) have been confirmed previously. In this research, the influences of the cathode potential and initial p -BrA concentration on the performance of microbial electrolytic cells (MECs) were investigated. The degradation performance and degradation kinetics of a MEC and a conventional anaerobic reactor (CAR) were compared to analyze degradation products. The microbial species diversity in the MECs was studied to analyze changes following the introduction of electric potential. The optimized solution had a cathode potential of 0.5 V, an initial concentration of 50 mg/L, and a pH value of 7. Under these conditions, the removal efficiency for p -BrA was 94.94 %. In addition, after transitioning from a CAR to an MEC, the bacterial species diversity of the biocathode took place significant changes. Several types of aniline-degrading bacteria, such as Proteobacteria and Patescibacteria, and methane-producing bacteria, such as Anaerolineaceae, were dominant in the community of the cathodic biofilm. Experimental results showed that the removal of p -BrA degradation products was closely related to the diversity of cathode bacteria.

The interaction between metals is an important factor to modify the catalytic roles of metallic catalysts, and it is highly desirable to reveal the relationship between metal-metal interaction and catalytic performance. Three types of Ir-Cu catalysts including Cu single atoms modified Ir nanoparticles and Ir-Cu alloy catalysts are prepared to observe the modifying role of Cu on Ir. Under relatively high temperature treatment, Ir-Cu alloy can be produced from Cu single atoms and Ir nanoparticles. The selectivity to bromoaniline (BAN) over Cu/C-Ir catalyst can be up to 99.9 % at the 100 % conversion of bromonitrobenzene (BNB), which is higher than that over Ir/C (94.3 %) and Ir-Cu/C alloy catalyst (98.5 %). The turnover frequencies (TOFs) of Cu/C-Ir catalysts are evidently lower than that of the Ir-Cu/C alloy catalyst, though their dispersions are higher than that of Ir-Cu/C alloy catalyst. The electronic transfer from Cu single atoms to Ir nanoparticles not only weakens the hydrogen adsorption ability but reduces the number of active sites available for splitting hydrogen molecules into hydrogen atoms, leading to a decrease in the catalytic activity for the selective hydrogenation of BNB. The interaction exerted by unalloyed Cu single atoms on Ir nanoparticles differs from that of alloyed Cu on Ir, which may be the possible reason for the different catalytic performance between Cu single atoms modified Ir nanoparticles and Ir-Cu alloy.
