Hydroxyapatite (HA), an artificial bioceramic with high similarity to the mineral constituent of vertebrate bones and teeth, has attracted extensive attention due to its excellent bioactivity and biocompatibility. The micro-nano structure of HA is a vital factor in expanding its application in biomedicine as well as in many other industrial fields. What's more, HA nanofiber exhibits outstanding properties among its various morphologies. In this work, HA bundles with the same oriented nanofibers are successfully synthesized in a solvothermal reaction system by controlling the amount of carbonate addition and using oleic acid as a template. Under the synergistic effect of different molar ratios of hydroxide ion to carbanion ([OH − ]/[CO 3 2− ]), HA nanofibers gradually increase their aspect ratio and tend to grow into oriented bundles. This product has admirable flexibility and good mechanical strength, as well as great application potential. Based on the characterization and analysis results, we take a further exploration of the effects of ionic interference ([OH − ]/[CO 3 2− ]) and charge balance (CO 3 2− vs PO 4 3 , Na + vs Ca 2+ ) on the microstructure, phase composition and thermal stability of HA nanofibers bundles (HANBs) in the solvothermal system during the chemical reaction process. And then, the formation and assembly mechanism of HANBs is proposed, and the role of van der Waals forces in this process is also discussed. Furthermore, the generation of this clustered state may be influenced by the shift in the dissolution equilibrium of insoluble carbonates during synthesis. This research provides a new direction for controlling the micro-nano morphology of HA to further obtain products with desirable properties.

We report the synthesis, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of a series of two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) coordination polymers (CPs). A solvothermal reaction of manganese metal salts with 4,4′-oxydibenzoic acid (H2oba), 4,4′-methylenebis(oxy) dibenzoic acid (H2mba), 4,4′-(propane-1,3-diylbis (oxy))dibenzoic acid (H2pba) or 1,4-bis (1H-imidazol-1-yl)-butane (bib) gives five new non-interpenetrating CPs, [Mn2(oba)2(CH3OH)(H2O)] (1), [Mn6(oba)6(bib)(DMF)2(H2O)4] · (DMF)2(CH3OH) (2), [Mn4(mba)4(bib)(CH3OH)] (3), [Mn7(pba)7 (bib)(H2O)4] · (H2O)3(DMA)(CH3OH)0.5 (4), and [Mn7(pba)7(H2O)6](DMA)3 (5). The X-ray crystal structural analyses revealed that 1, 4, and 5 are 2-D layers, whereas 2 and 3 are 3-D frameworks with 1-D Mn-carboxylate chains. In 1, 2, 4, and 5, the 1-D Mn-carboxylate chains are formed by flexible carboxylate ligands and Mn ions; these were then linked by organic ligands in different directions, leading to the formation of 2-D and 3-D frameworks. Furthermore, IR, PXRD, elemental analysis, TGA, and magnetic properties have been investigated.

Transition metal selenides are a highly promising class of electrocatalysts in the field of alkaline oxygen evolution reactions (OER). However, due to the weak catalytic ability of intrinsic active sites and slow kinetic driving forces, the OER performance of single metal selenides is still unsatisfactory. Herein, we prepared a novel iron doped cobalt selenide nanospheres catalyst (FeCoSe) by introducing Fe in situ into CoSe during the solvothermal reaction process using a doping strategy. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that the incorporation of Fe effectively optimizes the d-band center of CoSe, thereby enhancing the catalyst's adsorption capacity for intermediates, reducing the reaction barrier for OER, accelerating the kinetics rate of OER, and ultimately improving the overall catalytic performance for OER. The optimal catalyst (FeCoSe-1:2) demonstrates exceptional OER performance in 1 M KOH electrolyte, exhibiting a low overpotential of 250 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm −2 and a small Tafel slope of 44 mV dec −1 , surpassing the performance of the cobalt selenide. The catalyst also demonstrates excellent long-term stability during the OER process. This study will provide valuable reference for the development of durable alkaline OER catalysts, thereby facilitating the fabrication of advanced energy devices in future.
