Electrocoagulation is progressively becoming an ecologically friendly water treatment method owing to its lack of secondary pollution, high active ingredient concentration, high treatment effectiveness, simple equipment, and simplicity of automated control implementation. Herein, electrocoagulation is offered as a method for treating wastewater containing azo dyes using a revolutionary flexible electronic fabric that can be mass-producible at a reasonable price. A computer-controlled machine embroiders 316L stainless steel fiber (316L SSF) onto an insulating fabric to manufacture a flexible electronic device of cathode and anode with a monopolar arrangement on the fabric surface. Using methyl orange (MO) solution to simulate azo dye wastewater, the decolorization rate of 500 ml MO reached 99.25% under the conditions of 50 mg·L −1 initial mass concentration, 120 min electrolysis time, 15 mA·g −1 current density, 1 cm electrode spacing, 0.1 mol·L −1 NaCl, pH 7.6, 200 r·min −1 rotational speed of the stirrer, and 22−25 °C room temperature. In addition, it is feasible to embroider flexible electronic fabrics with varied sizes and numbers of electrodes based on the amount of treated sewage to increase the degradation rate, which has significant practical application value.

In the last several decades, electronic ink (e-ink) microcapsules have been extensively employed in display screens owing to their high reflectivity and contrast under visible light irradiation, as well as their flexibility, low cost, and low power consumption. Herein, a simple coating technique serves to combine e-ink microcapsules containing multiple color particles with fabrics to design an intelligent reversible electrochromic flexible electronic fabric. E-ink microcapsules, transparent Ag nanowires (T-AgNWs), and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) are sequentially and uniformly coated on the surface of the double-layer conductive strip structure composed of conductive fabric and insulating fabric. The electrophoretic discoloration of the e-ink microcapsules can be achieved by applying voltages of a certain magnitude between the bottom conductive fabric strip layer and the T-AgNWs/SWCNT composite conductive layer. Large-area flexible electrochromic fabrics can be formed by weaving strips coated with e-ink microcapsules materials based on the results of the continuous bending and soaking experiments, which has great application potential in the research of adaptive camouflage smart fabrics in the visible light field.

Alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) fibers with wearable characteristics, such as flexibility, light weight, stitchability and comfort, are emerging in textile displays for daily applications. To construct efficient ACEL fibers, a judiciously designed and low-cost electrode is also extremely important but seems to receive less attention. Inspired by fiber dyeing, we propose a method that employs non-noble metals to design fiber electrodes by constructing microconductive channels inside commercial fibers. This method relies on the window period formed by the glass transition temperature of the PAN fibers, which is sufficiently flexible to extend to mass production at a low cost (approximately US$ 1.86/kg). The resulting ACEL fibers interwoven with a transparent fiber electrode formed a textile display with an acceptable luminescence performance of 46 cd · m −2 (160 V). Notably, a visual feedback e-textile (VFET) was constructed by integrating fiber sensors, which demonstrates the concept of wearable real-time visual monitoring and interaction. Compared with their individual counterparts, VFET has been conveniently and efficiently for visual monitoring, communication, and interaction, i.e., the visualization of physiological parameters (heartbeat, respiration, etc.) and nonverbal communications (literal or cryptographic) for special groups and specific scenes. Graphical Abstract
Non-noble metal electroluminescent (EL) fibers and accessible, sensitive, and flexible visual feedback e-textiles (VFET) capable of being integrated into smart clothing and wearable devices are proposed in this work

Developing fabric-based electronics with good wearability is undoubtedly an urgent demand for wearable technologies. Although the state-of-the-art fabric-based wearable devices have shown unique advantages in the field of e-textiles, further efforts should be made before achieving “electronic clothing” due to the hard challenge of optimally unifying both promising electrical performance and comfortability in single device. Here, we report an all-fiber tribo-ferroelectric synergistic e-textile with outstanding thermal-moisture comfortability. Owing to a tribo-ferroelectric synergistic effect introduced by ferroelectric polymer nanofibers, the maximum peak power density of the e-textile reaches 5.2 W m −2 under low frequency motion, which is 7 times that of the state-of-the-art breathable triboelectric textiles. Electronic nanofiber materials form hierarchical networks in the e-textile hence lead to moisture wicking, which contributes to outstanding thermal-moisture comfortability of the e-textile. The all-fiber electronics is reliable in complicated real-life situation. Therefore, it is an idea prototypical example for electronic clothing.
