2D ferromagnetic chromium tellurides exhibit intriguing spin configurations and high-temperature intrinsic ferromagnetism, providing unprecedented opportunities to explore the fundamental spin physics and build spintronic devices. Here, a generic van der Waals epitaxial approach is developed to synthesize the 2D ternary chromium tellurium compounds with thicknesses down to mono-, bi-, tri-, and few-unit cells (UC). The Mn 0.14 Cr 0.86 Te evolves from intrinsic ferromagnetic behavior in bi-UC, tri-UC, and few-UC to temperature-induced ferrimagnetic behavior as the thickness increases, resulting in a sign reversal of the anomalous Hall resistance. Temperature- and thickness-tunable labyrinthine-domain ferromagnetic behaviors are derived from the dipolar interactions in Fe 0.26 Cr 0.74 Te and Co 0.40 Cr 0.60 Te. Furthermore, the dipolar-interaction-induced stripe domain and field-induced domain wall (DW) motion velocity are studied, and multibit data storage is realized through an abundant DW state. The magnetic storage can function in neuromorphic computing tasks, and the pattern recognition accuracy can reach up to 97.93%, which is similar to the recognition accuracy of ideal software-based training (98.28%). Room-temperature ferromagnetic chromium tellurium compounds with intriguing spin configurations can significantly promote the exploration of the processing, sensing, and storage based on 2D magnetic systems.

Chiral noncollinear magnetic nanostructures, such as skyrmions, are intriguing spin configurations with significant potential for magnetic memory technologies. However, the limited availability of 2D magnetic materials that host skyrmions with Curie temperatures above room temperature presents a major challenge for practical implementation. Chromium tellurides exhibit diverse spin configurations and remarkable stability under ambient conditions, making them a promising platform for fundamental spin physics research and the development of innovative 2D spintronic devices. Here, domain structures of Cr 0.85 Te nanoflakes synthesized via chemical vapor deposition are investigated, using magnetic force microscopy at room temperature. The results reveal that the domain width of the as-grown nanoflakes scales with the square root of their thicknesses. Notably, the emergence and annihilation of skyrmions are observed, which can be reversibly controlled by external magnetic fields and thermal excitation in ambient air. Micromagnetic simulations suggest that the emergence of skyrmions in Cr 0.85 Te nanoflakes arises from inversion symmetry breaking due to compositional gradients across the sample thickness, rather than the interfacial Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms underlying skyrmion formation in 2D ferromagnets and open exciting possibilities for manipulating domain structures at room temperature, offering practical pathways for developing next-generation spintronic devices.

Reducing the low-frequency loss (≤ 1 kHz) of the soft magnetic powder cores (SMPCs) while maintaining high saturation magnetic induction ( B s ) is beneficial to the high efficiency and energy saving of motor applications. Herein, the effects of silicone resin content (SI), compaction pressure, and annealing temperature on the magnetic softness, microstructure, and magnetic domains of Fe-6.5 wt.%Si SMPCs were systematically studied. The SMPCs with 1 wt.% SI content and pressed at 1800 MPa not only have good forming ability but also exhibit low total loss and high B s . According to the loss separation at 1 T and 1 kHz, the hysteresis loss accounts for more than 75% of the total loss. Annealing at 850 °C induces dense and large recrystallized grains with large-angle grain boundaries and easily mobile domain walls, resulting in low hysteresis and total loss. A higher temperature of 950 °C damages the cladding layer and causes direct powder-to-powder contact, which thus slightly increases hysteresis and eddy loss. The correlation between the core loss, microstructure, and magnetic domain provides a reference for the development of high- B s and low-loss SMPCs for high-efficiency motors.

The technological advances in wearable electronics and military stealth have spawned extensive research into electromagnetic wave absorbents. Despite the rapid progress in the geometrical modulation of magnetic absorbents, the engineering strategy of microwave-responsive magnetic domains is underdeveloped and the response dynamics remain unclear. Herein, a surface finite-sized atom reconstruction procedure is proposed to accurately modulate the local magnetic topological domains, dramatically enhancing the magnetic loss capacity. Due to the selectivity of atom reconstruction, vortex and stripe domains are controllably hybridized around the porous surface to broaden the interactive domain region, significantly intensifying energy absorption of the microwave field. Meanwhile, the amorphous/crystalline interfaces around atom reconstruction regions can induce interfacial polarization, enabling the optimization of dielectric loss capacity. Therefore, a satisfactory magnetic–dielectric synergy is realized to demonstrate the strong absorption intensity of −31.2 dB and the broad absorption bandwidth of 5.9 GHz. Furthermore, the surface-based magnetic domain transformation and microwave energy attenuation mechanisms are thoroughly revealed to break the black box of structure–function through electron holography and micromagnetic simulation. These achievements demonstrate a promising solution to improve high-frequency magnetic properties and provide a feasible route to interpret the structure-relevant magnetic loss capacity.

Emergent magnetism in 2D materials has attracted significant attention due to their intrinsic magnetic order, which persists down to the monolayer limit, and their potential applications in spintronic devices. In particular, domain structure modulation plays a crucial role in 2D magnet-based nano-spintronic devices. However, the fabrication and modulation of the desired domain structure, along with the establishment of reliable electrical write/read operations, remain significant challenges. Herein, a unique structure-shaping way to modulate domain structure is demonstrated via folding a continuous flat Fe 3 GaTe 2 nanosheet. Accompanied by magnetic domain structure transformation, the symmetric butterfly-shaped magnetoresistance (MR) curve changes to an antisymmetric field-dependent magnetoresistance. Notably, the MR exhibits either the same or opposite sign at geometrically equivalent positions, depending on the relative angle of the current flow and domain wall direction. The MR behavior with respect to sweeping field and electrodes position is due to the circulating current in the vicinity of the domain wall. More importantly, this new concept of manipulating domain structure and its associated magneto-transport behavior can inspire novel spintronic devices fabrication and application.

The sluggish kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the anode of water electrolysis constrains the overall energy conversion. The design of efficient electrocatalysts can significantly reduce the reaction overpotential. Due to the distinct spin states of adsorbed oxygen intermediates and products, ferromagnetic catalysts facilitate spin-polarized electron transfer under an applied magnetic field, thereby accelerating OER kinetics. In this work, the non-magnetic Zn 2+ was incorporated into NiFe 2 O 4 , effectively modulate the magnetic properties and magnetic domain structures of the catalysts. The effect of magnetic field on multi-domain catalysts (NiFe 2 O 4 ) is more pronounced, whereas the magnetic response of single-domain catalysts (Ni 1-x Zn x Fe 2 O 4 ) can be enhanced by optimizing their intrinsic magnetic properties. Theoretical calculations demonstrate that the evolution process of magnetic domain walls in multi-domain catalysts under a magnetic field may result in alterations to the active sites at the magnetic domain walls regions. Single-domain catalysts which lack magnetic domain walls exhibit enhancement effects that originate from the magnetic field's modulation of the electronic states at active sites. These findings provide insights into understanding the OER effect of magnetic field-enhanced single or multi-domain catalysts.
