Inconel 625 + x Al ( x = 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0) alloy coatings were prepared by laser cladding. The addition of Al promoted the formation of the BCC phase, which changed the coating microstructure from an FCC + δ phase + Laves phase to FCC + BCC + δ phase + Laves phase. Inconel 625 + 2.5 Al alloy showed the greatest corrosion resistance among all samples. The formation of an Al 2 O 3 film improved the corrosion resistance of the coating, but excess Al decreased the Cr 2 O 3 content in the film, which decreased the corrosion resistance of the coating. Increasing the Al content aggravated the lattice distortion and improved the solid solution strengthening effect, while also increasing the amount of BCC phase, which improved the coating hardness. After adding Al, the Inconel 625 + x Al alloy coatings displayed strong plastic deformation resistance, and their wear resistance was improved due to the presence of a hard phase.

At the present time, the subject of seawater scouring and corrosion phenomena is attracting considerable attention. Accordingly, the present study involved the synthesis of CuPP materials and the preparation of Ni-Cu/CuPP coatings for deployment in marine environments characterised by elevated stress and corrosion. The results show that CuPP can effectively enhance the wear resistance and long-term corrosion resistance of Ni-Cu coatings, which is attributed to ‘fine grain strengthening’ and ‘diffusion strengthening’. Furthermore, the formation of a friction transfer film and the transformation of the wear mechanism are the primary factors contributing to the exceptional wear resistance of the Ni-Cu/CuPP composite coatings.

Titanium and its alloys play a vital role as implant materials in orthopedic and dental surgery. However, its poor wear resistance limits its application in the medical field. High entropy alloy (HEA) has high wear resistance due to the combined action of high entropy, lattice distortion, and cocktail effects. In this work, TiFeCrCoNi HEA is prepared by Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) under the protection of high pure Ar gas . The results show the TiFeCrCoNi HEA has mainly FCC phase and a small amount of Hexagonal and Laves phases . Its microhardness is up to 776.3 ± 21.4 H V and is 2.8 times that of pure Ti. Meanwhile, the HEA has a low friction coefficient of 0.1–0.15, which is attributed to high hardness precipitates and grain refinement. The main wear mechanism of the HEA is oxidation wear, adhesive wear , and abrasive wear . In addition, the TiFeCrCoNi HEA also demonstrates good biocompatibility.
