Pear powdery mildew (PPM), caused by Phyllactinia pyri , is one of the most serious diseases affecting production in the Hebei pear-growing region of China. Iminoctadine trialbesilate and trifloxystrobin are known to have broad-spectrum activity against a wide range of plant pathogens, including P. pyri . A total of 105 P. pyri strains were isolated from 11 cities in Hebei Province from 2017 to 2019. Iminoctadine trialbesilate and trifloxystrobin significantly inhibited P. pyri growth. Microscopic observation showed that P. pyri mycelia had different degrees of desiccation and that the conidial cell contents had been released. The sensitivities of 60 P. pyri strains to iminoctadine trialbesilate and trifloxystrobin were determined in vitro, and the average EC 50 values were 0.5773 ± 0.0014 and 1.2038 ± 0.0010 μg/ml, respectively. The average EC 50 values for 85 and 75% of the strains with continuous single peak frequency distributions were 0.4534 ± 0.0012 and 0.8124 ± 0.0039 μg/ml, respectively. These data could be used as the baseline sensitivities of P. pyri to these two fungicides. The maximum difference multiples of the sensitivities of P. pyri strains from the different cities to iminoctadine trialbesilate and trifloxystrobin were 13.5- and 17.2-fold, respectively. Cluster analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between P. pyri sensitivity and geographical origin. The field efficacies in controlling PPM were higher than 85%. These findings can improve how we monitor iminoctadine trialbesilate and trifloxystrobin resistance and improve application efficiency.

Picoxystrobin (PIC) is a fungicide extensively used for disease control in both crops and vegetables. Residues of PIC in vegetables pose a potential threat to human health due to their accumulation in the food chain. In this study, a specific PIC monoclonal antibody (mAb) was developed by introducing a carboxylic acid arm into PIC and subsequently preparing a hapten and an artificial antigen. A sensitive and rapid time-resolved fluorescence immunochromatographic assay (TRFICA) was established based on the mAb. Subsequently, using a time-resolved fluorescent microsphere (TRFM) as signal probe, mAbs and microspheres were covalently coupled. The activated pH, the mAb diluents, the mAb amount, and the probe amount were optimized. Under optimized conditions, the quantitative limits of detection (qLOD) of PIC in cucumber, green pepper, and tomato using TRFICA were established at 0.61, 0.26, and 3.44 ng/mL, respectively; the 50% inhibiting concentrations (IC50) were 11.76, 5.29, and 37.68 ng/mL, respectively. The linear ranges were 1.81–76.71, 0.80–35.04, and 8.32–170.55 ng/mL, respectively. The average recovery in cucumber, green pepper, and tomato samples ranged from 79.8% to 105.0%, and the corresponding coefficients of variation (CV) were below 14.2%. In addition, 15 vegetable samples were selected and compared with the results obtained using ultra-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). The results revealed a high degree of concordance between the proposed method and UPLC-MS/MS. In conclusion, the devised TRFICA method is a valuable tool for rapid, on-site, and highly sensitive detection of PIC residues in vegetables. Keywords:picoxystrobin;monoclonal antibody;time-resolved fluorescence immunochromatographic assay;vegetables

Persulfate (PMS) is an excellent free radical initiator with selective degradation of organic pollutants. This article presents the preparation of a high-performance Cu-SA@NCA(Single atom copper modified nitrogen doped aerogel carbon) electrocatalyst with adjustable interfacial separation enhancement effect for the first time. Under the optimal process parameters, the removal rates of ENO, COD, and TOC obtained after 5 min of reaction were 100 %, 73.41 % and 55.15 %, respectively. The average energy consumption was saved by 59.63∼123.25 kWh/kg ENO. After 6 cycles of degrading ENO wastewater, the removal rate of ENO only decreased by 8.55 %. It was demonstrated through characterization such as high-angle annular dark field-scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM), X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES), and Fourier Transform Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Spectroscopy (FT-EXAFS) that the single atom copper loaded on the Cu-SA@NCA surface is tightly bound to N in NCA through Cu-N 4 bond bridges, promoting the formation of double electron centers on the catalyst surface. The particle electrode catalyst significantly enhances the PMS activation process over a wide pH range and can accelerate the degradation of enoxacin (ENO). As the reaction center for PMS adsorption and activation, Cu-N 4 has a lower charge transfer resistance and can attract PMS to the catalyst surface, resulting in a higher current response in the PMS system. Organic pollutants release electrons through the carbon matrix of carbon based catalysts and transfer them to Cu-SA@NCA-PMS, promoting PMS activation and the formation of high valence copper ions, enhancing the degradation of pollutants. Density functional theory (DFT) further indicate that the regulatory effect of N on the electron distribution of Cu d orbitals is beneficial for the stretching and cleavage of Cu active centers by PMS, accelerating the process of SO 4 − · and ·OH generation rate, which is consistent with the results of XANES. In addition, during the degradation process of salt containing organic pollutants in PMS, Cu-SA@NCA exhibits strong resistance to inorganic ions, natural organic matter, and pH value. This work developed a new catalyst that selectively produces SO 4 − · and ·OH with 97.46 % selectivity, achieving high selectivity and efficiency in degrading pollutants.

In this study, a rapid and simple semi-automatic emulsification liquid-liquid microextraction technique based on deep eutectic solvents was developed for determining strobilurin fungicides in food samples using high-performance liquid chromatography. Novel deep eutectic solvents formed as extractants by combining quaternary phosphates and fatty acids, eliminating the need for toxic solvents in liquid-phase microextraction. The extraction process was facilitated by an electric micropipette, which emulsified and injected the deep eutectic solvent-water mixture directly into the sample. The semi-automated approach enhanced extraction speed and efficiency while minimizing manual error. The sample and deep eutectic solvent mixture were emulsified immediately and separated within 15 min of standing. Only an electronic micropipette was used to achieve extraction and separation. The method demonstrated a linear range of 2–200 μg L −1 with R 2 > 0.996 and a limit of detection of 0.6 μg L −1 . Recovery ranged from 73.0 % to 100.1 %, with relative standard deviations from 0.4 % to 6.1 %. The greenness of the method was validated through multiple assessment tools, including the Green Analytical Procedure Index, Analytical GREEnness metric for sample preparation, and Sample Preparation Metric of Sustainability. The emulsification liquid-liquid microextraction procedure, based on innovative solvents and electric micropipette technology, proved successful for application in water, juice, and vinegar samples and showed potential for broader use in pesticide residue analysis in food.

Iprodione is an effective and broad-spectrum fungicide commonly used for early disease control in fruit trees and vegetables. Due to rainfall, iprodione often finds its way into water bodies, posing toxicity risks to non-target organisms and potentially entering the human food chain. However, there is limited information available regarding the developmental toxicity of iprodione specifically on the liver in existing literature. In this study, we employed larval and adult zebrafish as models to investigate the toxicity of iprodione. Our findings revealed that iprodione exposure led to yolk sac edema and increased mortality in zebrafish. Notably, iprodione exhibited specific effects on zebrafish liver development. Additionally, zebrafish exposed to iprodione experienced an overload of reactive oxygen species, resulting in the upregulation of p53 gene expression. This, in turn, triggered hepatocyte apoptosis and disrupted carbohydrate/lipid metabolism as well as energy demand systems. These results demonstrated the substantial impact of iprodione on zebrafish liver development and function. Furthermore, the application of astaxanthin (an antioxidant) and p53 morpholino partially mitigated the liver toxicity caused by iprodione. To summarize, iprodione induces apoptosis through the upregulation of p53 mediated by oxidative stress signals, leading to liver toxicity in zebrafish. Our study highlights that exposure to iprodione can result in hepatotoxicity in zebrafish, and it may potentially pose toxicity risks to other aquatic organisms and even humans.

Ester‐containing pesticides, such as diphenyl ether herbicides, aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides, and strobilurin fungicides, are widely applied in agriculture, but their residues pose significant risks to ecosystems. Functional microorganisms can degrade ester‐containing pesticides in the natural environment. However, the microbial mechanisms responsible for their degradation in soils remain unclear. A novel hydrolase gene triS from the strain S113 encoded a broadly active carboxylesterase that hydrolyzes a wide range of ester‐containing pesticides. TriS exhibited a maximum sequence similarity of 34.92% to proteins in the Swiss‐Prot (UniProt) database. Gene redundancy was observed in strain S113, with TriS showing higher catalytic activity than its homologues. The enzyme contains a conserved Ser226‐Glu346‐His456 catalytic triad, and its substrate‐binding pocket can accommodate complex substrates, which contributes to its broad substrate spectrum and enhanced catalytic efficiency. Genomic analyses revealed that triS resides in a conserved locus, whereas related paralogs occupy more variable regions, suggesting potential horizontal dissemination. Bioinformatics‐based taxonomic profiling showed widespread occurrence of TriS homologues, mainly in agricultural soils, and also in forests and wetlands, indicating spread beyond pesticide‐treated fields. This study elucidated the function and distribution pattern of triS , enhancing our understanding of microbial ester‐containing pesticide degradation in the environment. A novel carboxylesterase, TriS, from strain Hansschlegelia zhihuaiae S113 degrades a wide range of ester‐bonded pesticides. Its structural features and widespread presence in both farmlands and natural areas help explain how microbial communities adapt to chemical stress and maintain key detoxification functions in the environment.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a promising technique for the rapid detection of trace pesticide residues in agricultural produce. Currently, research is predominantly centered on utilizing SERS to discern residues characterized by non-overlapping spectral peaks. Yet, the technology encounters challenges in accurately identifying substances when their Raman spectral peaks overlap. In this paper, a silver nanoparticles (Ag Nps) modified SiO 2 nanoparticles (SiO 2 Nps) arrays composite SERS substrate (SiO 2 @Ag Nps-SERS substrate) was prepared for detecting lambda-cyhalothrin (LCT) and iprodione (IPR) residues in tobacco leaves, with detection limits of 0.1 ppm and 1 ppm respectively. And then, supervised machine learning models were used to identify and classify LCT and IPR residues with overlapped Raman characteristic peaks at 1000 cm −1 . Support Vector Machine (SVM), Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) and Decision Tree (DT) models could all accurately classify the spectral data of LCT and IPR residues, and the classification accuracy of SVM model was the highest, reaching 99.74 %. This capability is a testament to the innovative strength of our approach, highlighting its potential for universal applicability in spectral data analysis.

Microplastics (MPs) and pesticides increasingly co-occur in agricultural soils, yet their combined effects on soil biology and plant–soil interactions remain poorly understood. Here we provide the evidence that biodegradable polylactic acid (PLA) MPs, despite their eco-friendly reputation, fundamentally reshape soil microbial and biochemical dynamics under pesticide stress. In a soil–chive system, PLA, but not conventional polyethylene (PE), significantly delayed iprodione (IPR) degradation (up to 7.7-fold), increased the persistence of its toxic metabolite 3,5-dichloroaniline (3,5-DCA), and enhanced plant uptake of 3,5-DCA (up to 59%). Mechanistically, PLA disrupted beneficial bacterial enrichment, altered microbial community composition, and interfered with plant detoxification pathways, notably glutathione metabolism and amino acid biosynthesis. These interactions intensified phytotoxicity, stunted plant growth, and reduced soil–plant resilience. Our findings reveal a previously overlooked ecological trade-off: biodegradable MPs can amplify pesticide risks by destabilizing soil microbial processes and stress-response mechanisms. This work advances understanding of how novel contaminants interact in soils and highlights the importance of integrating soil biological functions into sustainability assessments of alternative plastics.

The integrated "rice-aquaculture" farming system is increasingly promoted in China as a sustainable agricultural model offering "dual benefits of grain and aquaculture". However, the safety of pesticides to co-cultured aquatic species, such as the red claw crayfish ( Cherax quadricarinatus ), requires thorough investigation. This study assessed the acute and chronic toxicological effects of six widely used chemical pesticides in paddy fields—abamectin, trifloxystrobin, triflumezopyrim, glufosinate-ammonium, zinc thiazole, and pretilachlor—on C. quadricarinatus under laboratory conditions. Acute toxicity tests revealed that abamectin and trifloxystrobin were highly toxic to C. quadricarinatus . Pretilachlor exhibited moderate toxicity. In contrast, triflumezopyrim, glufosinate-ammonium, and zinc thiazole demonstrated low acute toxicity. Subsequent chronic toxicity assessments (7-day exposure followed by a 14-day recovery) indicated that sub-lethal concentrations of triflumezopyrim, glufosinate-ammonium, and zinc thiazole induced neurotoxicity in C. quadricarinatus . Additionally, triflumezopyrim exposure led to oxidative stress, as evidenced by altered antioxidant enzyme activities and increased lipid peroxidation and DNA damage. Most notably, these sub-lethal effects-including significant changes in growth parameters (SGR, HSI), neurotoxicity (AChE inhibition), oxidative stress (SOD, CAT, MDA), and genotoxicity (8-OHdG) were largely reversible, consistently returning to control levels after a 14-day recovery in clean water. This demonstrated resilience provides a strong scientific basis for the periodic and safe application of these low-toxicity agents in integrated rice-crayfish system, while the highly toxic abamectin, trifloxystrobin, and moderate toxic pretilachlor pose significant risks and their use should be limited. This research provides a scientific basis for pesticide selection to support the sustainable development of integrated rice-red claw crayfish farming systems, contributing to the protection of aquatic ecosystems while ensuring the economic benefits of agricultural production.

Strobilurin fungicides are used globally and have been detected in microgram per liter concentrations in aquatic environments. Here, we determined the potential toxicity of four commonly used strobilurins (azoxystrobin, kresoxim-methyl, pyraclostrobin, trifloxystrobin) on mitochondrial function and locomotor activity of larval zebrafish at an environmentally relevant level. As the mode of action of strobilurins in fungi is binding to cytochrome bc1 in mitochondrial complex III, we evaluated exposure effects on mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation of zebrafish, by measuring oxygen consumption rates, mitochondria-related enzyme activities , and transcripts levels for genes associated with the electron transfer chain and citric acid cycle. We found that 50 nM pyraclostrobin and trifloxystrobin lowered basal respiration, oligomycin-induced ATP respiration, and maximal respiration of embryos. Dysfunction in mitochondrial bioenergetics was associated with changes in mitochondrial complex III activity and transcripts of oxidative respiration and stress-related genes. Lower activity of complex III, and reduced cytb mRNA levels were hypothesized to contribute to reduced electron supply to complex IV and V. Both coxI and atp6 were up-regulated, suggesting a compensatory response to impaired oxidative respiration. Cluster analysis indicated that strobilurin-induced oxidative stress and cytb transcript were related to impaired oxidative phosphorylation. We also assessed larval behavior responses, as reduced ATP can affect activity. We observed that pyraclostrobin and trifloxystrobin induced hypoactive responses in zebrafish. At 50 nM, azoxystrobin and kresoxim-methyl exerted no effects on mitochondrial function nor locomotion of zebrafish. Studies such as this are important for determining sublethal toxicity to these fungicides, as widespread detection of strobilurins in aquatic environments suggests there is a potential for adverse effects in aquatic organisms .

Strobilurin fungicides are widely used pesticides globally; however, their residues pose a risk to environmental safety and human health. This study aimed to develop a rapid and green method for detecting strobilurin fungicide residues. Chitosan and magnetic deep eutectic solvent-based emulsive liquid-liquid microextraction method combined with high-performance liquid chromatography was developed to determine strobilurin fungicides in water samples. A high-concentration oil-in-water emulsion containing chitosan solution and extractant was formulated, followed by the addition of samples to form a low-concentration oil-in-water emulsion to complete the rapid pretreatment, therefore solving the limitation of emulsive liquid-liquid microextraction in the inapplicability of extractants. Traditional microextraction required toxic solvents and complex equipment to facilitate the dispersion of extractants, whereas this study used only chitosan solution to aid in emulsifying extractants. The new green magnetic deep eutectic solvent synthesized by tetraoctylammonium bromide, ferric chloride, and oleic acid was used instead of toxic extractants. An external magnetic field assisted the extractant phase collection, which shortened the separation time. Under optimal conditions, the recovery of this method was 83.3 %–107.4 %, the limit of detection was 0.0010–0.0021 mg L −1 , and the coefficient of determination was >0.994. This rapid, green, simple, and efficient chitosan-based microextraction method could detect strobilurin fungicide residues in water samples because of its enhanced compatibility with hydrophobicity extractants.

A new method that utilizes a magnetic covalent organic framework (Fe 3 O 4 @BTA-TAPM) as a selective solid-phase extraction adsorbent has been developed for the simultaneous preconcentration of trace eleven kinds of strobilurin fungicides (SFs) in foods combined with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The preconcentration conditions were optimized, including the adsorbent amount, extraction time, pH value, shaking time, elution solvent, desorption time and the interference ions. The maximum adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was ranging from 42.84 mg g −1 to 54.18 mg g −1 for eleven SFs. The low limits of detection were 0.003–0.072 μg kg −1 . The recoveries of eleven SFs spiked at levels of 0.25–1000 μg kg −1 ranged from 80.2% to 109.3%, and the relative standard deviations were <6.8% (n = 3). The utility of the adsorbent was demonstrated to determine traces SFs in four different samples.
