Zinc-iodine batteries (ZIBs) have attracted widespread attention because of their efficient capacity for ion transport and safety. However, the shuttle effect and physical properties of iodine species tremendously hinder their practical applications. Herein, we report a nitrogen-doped biomass litchi-shell derived porous carbon (marked as N -LPC) as the iodine host for ZIBs. The porous-rich structure of N -LPC is favorable for iodine loading and electron/ion transfers. Furthermore, the doping of heteroatomic nitrogen provides abundant anchoring sites to achieve strong interaction with iodine, thus the self-discharge can be suppressed effectively. Accordingly, the N -LPC/I 2 composite cathode exhibits a specific capacity of 127 mAh/g at 100 mA g −1 , as well as excellent rate capability and cycle stability. This study provides a strategy for discovering the cost-effective carbonaceous iodine host material.

To relieve the secondary contamination of heavy metals (HMs), the synergistic effect of co-pyrolysis of textile dyeing sludge (DS)/litchi shell (LS) and CaO on the migration of HMs was demonstrated in this study. The proportions of Cu, Zn, Cr, Mn, and Ni in the F4 fraction increased to 75%, 55%, 100%, 50%, and 62% at the suitable CaO dosages. When 10% CaO was added, the RI value of DLC-10% was reduced to 7.89, indicating low environmental risk. The characterizations of the physicochemical properties of biochar provided support for the HMs immobilization mechanism. HMs combined with inorganic minerals or functional groups to form new stable HMs crystalline minerals and complexes to achieve immobilization of HMs. The pH value and pore structure also play an important role in improving the immobilization performance of HMs. In conclusion, the results provided a new direction for the subsequent harmless treatment of HMs-enriched waste.

Self-powered photodetectors with excellent figures-of-merit, fast response speed, and broadband detection capability have drawn tremendous research interest. However, it is still challenging to develop excellent light-absorbing materials as photodetectors with effective separation of carriers. In this paper, we develop a SnO2 nano litchi shell structure/n-Si heterojunction with enhanced broadband light absorption for self-powered photodetection. The advantageous photoresponse performance of the SnO2 nano litchi shell structure/n-Si heterojunction is attributed to the following factors: (1) the SnO2 nano litchi shell structure has a large specific surface area to trap light; (2) the spherical cavity structure increases the light utilization rate by scattering and multiple reflections; (3) the significant Fermi energy difference at the junction of the SnO2 layer and Si layer. As a result, the device exhibits a broadband detection capacity from ultraviolet (365 nm) to near-infrared (980 nm) at 0 voltage. Under 900 nm (10 μW cm−2), the photodetector shows the responsivity of 0.033 A W−1, the photosensitivity of 8.35 × 108 cm2 W−1, the detectivity of 2.94 × 1012 Jones, the response time of 20.8 μs, and the recovery time of 285 μs. We also evaluated the near-infrared low signal imaging and fluorescence detection capability of the device. We expect that the SnO2 nano litchi shell structure/n-Si heterojunction photodetector will have great potential in biomedical and environmental monitoring, and military reconnaissance.

The poor mechanical strength and singular therapeutic function of conventional hydrogel dressings have significantly constrained their clinical applicability for treating infected wounds. Consequently, the development of intelligent non-antibiotic dressings that exhibit both high mechanical strength and multiple synergistic therapeutic mechanisms represents a significant challenge. To address this, a “double polymerity-wide crosslinking” strategy was proposed in this work. This strategy successfully constructed a robust bidirectional polymeric hydrogel wound dressing reinforced with litchi husk cellulose nanofibrils. Specifically, the bidirectional polymerization of acrylamide was synergistically regulated by incorporating litchi shell extract and shell-derived cellulose microspheres, while also integrating the natural drug molecule epicatechin. Notably, the AgNPs encapsulated within the litchi shell extract endowed the dressing with remarkable antibacterial properties. Furthermore, the interpenetration of cellulose microspheres within the hydrogel network resulted in a structure exhibiting superior tensile strength, moderate viscosity, and commendable self-healing properties. Concurrently, interactions with the drug molecules facilitated a sequential controlled-release mechanism, enabling initial bacterial eradication followed by inflammation reduction. Molecular docking simulations effectively and sequencing of genes demonstrated stepwise drug delivery and mechanism of action. Moreover, in vivo wound healing experiments conducted on mice with epidermal infections confirmed the material's significant therapeutic efficacy.
