A simple electrochemical sensing method was proposed for fast detection of tyramine in rice vinegar. o -Aminophenol (OAP) was electropolymerized on the surface of glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to form the poly( o -aminophenol) (POAP) film. Then the overoxidized poly( o -aminophenol) film modified GCE (OPOAP/GCE) was obtained by electrochemical treatment of POAP film in the alkaline solution. The modification method of GCE and detection conditions of tyramine were optimized. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the preparation process of OPOAP/GCE and binding ability of tyramine onto the OPOAP film. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of OPOAP/GCE was investigated by square wave voltammetry. OPOAP/GCE, which was fabricated via cyclic voltammetry in 0.3 M perchloric acid solution with 0.01 M OAP and overoxidized in 0.09 M NaOH solution, showed good electrochemical response on tyramine. The oxidation current and the concentration of tyramine had good linear relationship in the ranges of 0.1-10 μM and 10-200 μM, respectively. The detection limit was 0.054 μM, based on the signal to noise ratio of 3. The recovery rates of tyramine in rice vinegar sample were from 95.6% to 117.2%. The sensor was simple, inexpensive, rapid, and suitable to detect tyramine in rice vinegar sample.
A strategy was developed for the voltammetric determination of the antibiotic drug levofloxacin (LV) based on a glassy carbon electrode modified with a composite consisting of poly(o-aminophenol) and graphene quantum dots (PoAP/GQD) that was fabricated by electropolymerization. The PoAP/GQD composite provides a large surface area and sensing interface and strongly promotes the oxidation current of LV. Under optimal conditions, the modified GCE displays an oxidation peak current (best measured at a working voltage of 1.05 V vs. SCE) that is linearly related to the levofloxacin concentration in the range from 0.05 to 100 μM, and the detection limit is 10 nM (at an S/N of 3). The method was applied to the determination of levofloxacin in spiked milk samples where is gave recoveries between 96.0 and 101.0 %.
We describe a one-step electrochemical polymerization method to synthesize a layer of conductive film of poly(o-aminophenol) and graphene quantum dots (PoAP/GQD) onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) surface. The composite film exhibited high electro catalytic activity for the quantitative determination of levofloxacin by stripping voltammetry.
Antibiotic production wastewater exhibits high concentration of antibiotics and toxic intermediates, which would pose a serious threat to the ecological environment. The biodegradation methods are prevailing for this wastewater. However, it imposes a considerable toxic burden on biological treatment units in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), ultimately resulting in subpar treatment efficacy. For improving the biodegradability of antibiotic production wastewater, hybrid process of resin adsorption and Fenton oxidation was proposed. The adsorption experiments showed that NDA-150 exhibited removal rates of up to 99.1% and 94.8% for two key pollutants 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) and o -aminophenol (OAP), respectively. The constant removal rates demonstrated stable performance and capacity of NDA-150 for practical industrial operation. The remaining high COD due to other organic contaminants in the effluent required the involvement of Fenton oxidation for the further processing. The results of single factor experiments and orthogonal tests showed that the COD removal rate of 56.5% could be realized under the optimal operating conditions. This work proposed a novel process which could alleviate obstacles between the antibiotic manufacture factories and biological treatment units, shed light on the mechanisms and feasibility of it, and provide a promising avenue for the toxicant organic industrial sewage.
