In the field of electrocatalysis, most of the electrodes have the problem of poor mechanical properties, which leads to the electrode can not be used on a large scale. At present, most bulk electrodes are used to study their mechanical properties due to their unique phase composition distribution and facile fabricate methods. But their novel properties in the field of electrocatalysts have not been fully developed. Multi-element bulk electrodes not only diversified the electronic states, but also build complex surface morphology by different dissolution rate between multi-phase distribution. In this paper, we synthesized the FeNiMo bulk electrode for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) with two-phase coexistence of Mo-doped face center cubic phase (FCC) and Mo-rich intermetallic compound (IMC) phase. During cyclic voltammetry activation, the surface reconstruction of Mo-rich IMC phases generated by ion leaching leaves Fe–Ni pore structures with more active area, which enhances OER performance. Meanwhile, the electron states get more diverse on the surface of remaining FCC phases due to Mo doping, which provides more suitable sites for four-step OER process. The FeNiMo electrode shows an ultra-low overpotential of 212 mV and 293.4 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm −2 and 100 mA cm −2 , respectively. Moreover, it can maintain stability at 100 mA cm −2 for up to 72 h. This work provides a strategy for studying the relationship between phase composition and electrochemical performance of alloy bulk electrodes.

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted widespread attention because of their remarkable efficiency, low cost, and ease of fabrication. However, the operational stability of the PSCs still suffers from the corrosion of metal electrodes induced by metal-halide reactions. Herein, we propose a feasible strategy for improving the stability of inverted PSCs by using magnetron-sputtered Mo rear electrodes. Coupled with a bismuth (Bi) buffer layer prepared by thermal evaporation, the damage from the magnetron sputtering process toward the underlayers can be effectively relieved. Consequently, based on the Bi + Mo bilayer electrode, the inverted PSCs with a NiMgLiO hole transport layer exhibited a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.82%. In addition to their excellent stability at high temperatures, compact Mo films can inhibit the decomposition of Perovskite (Pvk) films in the devices. The PSCs with the Bi/Mo bilayer electrode maintained 97.9% of its initial efficiency, showing better stability than PSCs with the traditional Ag electrode after aging for 3000 h under continuous light illumination. The exploration of cost-effective multifunctional electrodes with high activity toward energy storage and conversion systems, such as self-powered alkaline water electrolysis, is very meaningful, although studies remain quite limited. Herein, a heterogeneous nickel-molybdenum (NiMo)-based electrode is fabricated for the first time as a trifunctional electrode for asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC), hydrogen evolution reaction, and oxygen evolution reaction. The trifunctional electrode consists of Ni 4 Mo and MoO 2 (denoted Ni 4 Mo/MoO 2 ) with hierarchical nanorod heterostructure and abundant heterogeneous nanointerfaces creating sufficient active sites and efficient charge transfer for achieving high performance self-power electrochemical devices. The ASC consists of the as-prepared Ni 4 Mo/MoO 2 positive electrode, showing a broad potential window of 1.6 V, and a maximum energy density of 115.6 Wh kg −1 , while the alkaline overall water splitting (OWS) assembled using the as-prepared Ni 4 Mo/MoO 2 as bifunctional catalysts only requires a low cell voltage of 1.48 V to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm −2 in aqueous alkaline electrolyte. Finally, by integrating the Ni 4 Mo/MoO 2 -based ASC and OWS devices, an aqueous self-powered OWS is assembled, which self-power the OWS to generate hydrogen gas and oxygen gas, verifying great potential of the as-prepared Ni 4 Mo/MoO 2 for sustainable and renewable energy storage and conversion system.

In the present work, cyclic voltammetry (CV), square wave voltammetry (SWV) and chronopotentiometry (CP) were used to investigate the electrochemical coreduction behaviors of La(III) and Mg(II) as well as La(III), Mg(II) and Mn(II) on Mo electrode in LiCl + KCl molten salts. CV and SWV results exhibit that the coreduction mechanism of La (III) and Mg(II) on Mo electrode is that La(III) is reduced and Mg–La intermetallic compound is formed, leading to the deposition potential of La(III) shifting to more positive one. The electrochemical signals pertaining to the formation of metallic La, Mg and Mn as well as Mg–La intermetallic compound are also observed by coreduction of La(III), Mg(II), and Mn(II) in LiCl + KCl molten salt on the inert Mo electrode. However, the electrochemical signals associated with the formation of La–Mn and Mg–Mn alloys are not observed, which means that the depolarization effect of La(III) and Mg(II) does not occur on pre-deposited Mn electrode. The Mg–La–Mn alloys were formed by co-deposition of La(III), Mg(II), and Mn(II) on Mo electrode at various concentration ratios of La(III) and Mg(II). The results of scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction displays that the Mg–La–Mn alloys are comprised of La–Mg compound Mg 17 La 2 , Mg and Mn phases. The concentration ratio of La(III) and Mn(II) has few effects on the alloy composition .

Metal halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have garnered much attention in recent years. Despite the remarkable advancements in PSCs utilizing traditional metal electrodes, challenges such as stability concerns and elevated costs have necessitated the exploration of innovative electrode designs to facilitate industrial commercialization. Herein, a physically and chemically stable molybdenum (Mo) electrode is developed to fundamentally tackle the instability factors introduced by electrodes. The combined spatially resolved element analyses and theoretical study demonstrate the high diffusion barrier of Mo ions within the device. Structural and morphology characterization also reveals the negligible plastic deformation and halide-metal reaction during aging when Mo is in contact with perovskite (PVSK). The electrode/underlayer junction is further stabilized by a thin seed layer of titanium (Ti) to improve Mo film's uniformity and adhesion. Based on a corresponding p–i–n PSCs (ITO/PTAA/PVSK/C 60 /SnO 2 /ITO/Ti/Mo), the champion sample could deliver an efficiency of 22.25%, which is among the highest value for PSCs based on Mo electrodes. Meanwhile, the device shows negligible performance decay after 2000 h operation, and retains 91% of the initial value after 1300 h at 50–60 °C. In summary, the multilayer Mo electrode opens an effective avenue to all-round stable electrode design in high-performance PSCs.
