In recent years, catalytic degradation driven by mechanical-energy tribocatalysis has gained much attention. Point defects play very important on the catalytic activity of ferroelectric oxides. In this study, we focus on the influence of oxygen vacancies on the catalyst performance of ferroelectric oxide KSr 2 Nb 4 TaO 15 (KSNT) with a tetragonal tungsten bronze structure. The concentration of oxygen vacancies is modified by sintering atmosphere. The KSNT sintered in N 2 atmosphere exhibits the best tribocatalytic degradation efficiency of 96.7% within 2 h for degradation rhodamine B due to high concentration of oxygen vacancies. The excellent degradation efficiency is attributed to the defect energy level of KSNT and high electron–hole separation efficiency. This work reveals the relationship between oxygen vacancies and tribocatalysis efficiency, which is helpful to design and modify the new ferroelectric oxides for tribocatalysis.
PbTiO 3 /TiO 2 @carbon (PTC) composites with trimodal pore distribution were synthesized by a dual-template method. Localized quasi-1D nanoneedle morphology was formed that can promote charge separation.
The as-prepared PTC nanocomposites with optimal mass ratio exhibited excellent photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical performances.

Inorganic photochromic (PC) materials are increasingly being considered potential candidates for security and optical storage applications. Although great progress has been made in inorganic photochromic materials, it is still challenging to reach both strong photochromic efficiency and large luminescence modulation in inorganic materials . In this work, an effective method is proposed to simultaneously achieve strong photochromic efficiency and large luminescence modulation in ferroelectric oxides BaMg 0·28 Zr 0·16 Ta 0·56 O 3 : Dy 3+ (BZMT: Dy 3+ ) via inducing a large number of oxygen vacancies . The obtained BZMT: Dy 3+ ceramics exhibits a reversible white-black color change (∼59.5%) upon alternating illumination at 365 nm and 450 nm (or thermal stimulus 300 °C). Meanwhile, a large luminescence modulation (∼87.6%) had been achieved in BZMT: Dy 3+ due to the well overlap between the absorb peak of BZMT and the emission peaks of Dy 3+ . Benefiting from these excellent properties, the obtained BZMT: Dy 3+ ceramics can be used as electronic devices, security, and information storage multifunctional materials. Moreover, this study provides an effective method for developing other inorganic photochromic materials.
