Iron oxide red (IOR) is a kind of byproduct from spray pyrolysis treatment process of pickling waste liquid. In this project, manganese oxide and manganese cerium co-oxide were loaded onto the surface of IORto prepare IOR supported manganese oxide (Mn x /IOR) and IOR supported manganese-cerium co-oxide (Mnx-Cey/IOR) catalysts by a simple combustion method. Low temperature NH3-selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) denitrification properties of the synthetic catalysts were studied. XRD , SEM, EDS , TEM, BET, XPS, H 2 -TPR and NH 3 -TPD were used to characterize the physiochemical properties of the catalysts. The results show that during the combustion process for preparing Mnx/IOR catalyst, MnO x , almost all in amorphous phase, can be well distributed on the surface of the IOR carrier. The NO x conversions of Mn x /IOR catalyst gradually increase with the increase of MnO x loading amount within a specific working temperature range (<200 °C). When MnO x loading amount x is 0.43, the NO x conversion is up to 85% at most. The low temperature NH 3 -SCR activity of Mn x /IOR catalyst can be enhanced remarkably by introducing cerium . The NO x conversions of Mn 0.43 -Ce y /IOR catalyst at the operating temperature range (<200 °C) increase steadily with the cerium adding amount increasing. All the Mn 0.43 -Ce y /IOR catalysts show excellent denitrification efficiency (more than 90%) at about 160 °C. Compared with Mn 0.43 /IOR catalyst, Mn 0.43 -Ce 0.1 /IOR shows excellent denitrification performance and application prospect because of its higher manganese valence state, enhanced redox capacity, larger specific surface area, and significantly improved surface acidity and anti-SO 2 poisoning ability.

The effects of CO 2 on physical and electrochemical properties of deep eutectic solvent (DES) containing Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox couple were studied. At 25 °C, the viscosity of the DES decreased from 690.4 cP to 620 cP (10.1% decrease), and the ohmic resistance reduced from 1867 Ω to 1409 Ω (24.5% decrease) with saturated CO 2 . The magnitude of the changes reduces with the increase of temperature. Moreover, the cyclic voltammetry curve shows that the addition of CO 2 has no remarkable influence on the reaction kinetics of redox couple in DES. The results reported here imply that CO 2 has positive effects on the physicochemical characteristics of DES, while further studies are needed for being used in a DES electrolyte flow battery.

In order to alleviate the ecological pressure caused by rare earth tailings, this study focuses on the application of ion-adsorbed rare earth tailings in the preparation of functional pigments. By using mechanical grinding and high-temperature calcination , 33 new functionalized red pigments were successfully prepared by doping iron and lanthanum elements. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), CIE 1976 color space system, and ultraviolet–visible–near-infrared spectrophotometer were used for characterization. The synthesized pigment exhibits a rich color range from light yellow to reddish brown. Compared with commercially available iron red pigments, it exhibits significantly enhanced near-infrared reflectance, excellent acid and alkali resistance, and strong thermal stability up to 900 °C. It is worth noting that pigment P-1-2-1 achieved the best red value (L* = 43.73, a* = +24.07, b* = +15.65) with a maximum near-infrared reflectance of 91 %. Therefore, the utilization of rare earth tailings as raw materials for the preparation of functional pigments has significant effects. This study provides valuable insights for the development of eco-friendly pigments, which not only helps alleviate the urban heat island effect but also promotes the sustainable utilization of rare earth tailing resources, contributing to the achievement of carbon neutrality goals.
