Three new metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), namely, [Pb7(TTPCA)4Cl2]·3H2O (1), [Pb7(TTPCA)4(DMA)2(HCOO)2]·H2O (2), and [Pb4(TTPCA)3]·3DMF·2H2O·H3O (3), were synthesized by the H3TTPCA ligand [H3TTPCA = 1,1′,1″-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)-tripiperidine-4-carboxylic acid], with lead(II) nitrate under solvothermal conditions. They were characterized by CHN analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV–vis spectroscopy, and single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction. In addition, their thermogravimetric analysis and fluorescence properties were studied. Compounds 1–3 were 3D MOF structures with different Pbx(COO)y clusters: ([Pb7(COO)12Cl2]), ([Pb7(COO)12]), and [Pb8(COO)18]. Fluorescence detection of compounds 1–3 shows that they can act as excellent sensors of nitrophenols with a low limit of detection and a high quenching constant.
A new 2D phosphorescence lead metal cluster-based coordination polymer (CP) [Pb 4 ( μ 2 -OH) ( μ 3 -OH) ( μ 4 -O) (3-qlc) 4 ] n ( 1 ; 3-qlc = 3-quinolinecarboxylate) has been successfully synthesized by solvothermal reaction. CP 1 is a robust Pb(II) CP constructed by a rare [Pb 8 ( μ 2 -OH) 2 ( μ 3 -OH) 2 ( μ 4 -O) 2 (COO) 8 ] cluster units and 3-qlc ligands. The bulky clusters provide architectural stability to the framework of 1 . Interestingly, CP 1 exhibited almost pure room-temperature orange phosphorescence with absolute phosphorescence quantum yields of 3.3% and a phosphorescence lifetime of 1.52 ms benefiting from the restriction of molecular vibrations/rotations of organic luminogens (3-qlc) and the heavy-atom effect of Pb(II).

A new copper(II)/lead(II) complex [(terpy) 3 CuPb 5 Br 12 ] ( 1 ) (terpy = 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The copper(II) and lead(II) ions in the title complex are in distorted six- (Cu(II), Pb(II)) and eight-fold (Pb(II)) coordination environments, in which the donor atoms are provided by bromide anions and nitrogen atoms of the 2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine ligands. Complex 1 contains [(terpy) 4 Pb 9 Br 20 ] 2– building blocks. These bromoplumbate(II) clusters are connected by (terpy) 2 Cu 2 Br 4 units along the crystallographic b axis and by PbBr 6 units along the a axis, thereby forming an extended sheet structure.
