CoMoO4 has gained great attention as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries owing to its high theoretical capacity of 980 mAh g–1 and relatively high electrochemical activity. Unfortunately, CoMoO4 anode also has some drawbacks such as low electronic/ionic conductivity, inferior cyclic stability, and relative severe volumetric expansion during the lithiation/delithiation process, greatly inhibiting its further development and application. Herein, we report Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C nanosheet composite constructed via a novel and facile one-stone-three-birds strategy. The preparation of the Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C nanosheet is based on the following two-step process: the formation of Co/Zn nanosheet precursors derived from Co/Zn-ZIF rhombic dodecahedra via solvothermal pretreatment, followed by a calcination treatment with molybdic acid (H2MoO4) in air. The as-prepared Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C is monoclinic crystal structured composite with the in situ formed active carbon, which is well-defined nanosheet with a rough surface and mean thickness of 60–70 nm for a single sheet. This Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C nanosheet composite possesses a larger surface area of 37.60 m2 g–1, showing a mesoporous structure. When used as anode materials, the as-obtained Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C composite can deliver as high as a discharge capacity of 1337 mAh g–1 after 300 cycles at 0.2C and still retain the capacity of 827 mAh g–1 even after 600 cycles at 1C, exhibiting outstanding lithium storage performances. The higher capacity and superior cyclic stability of the Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C composite should be ascribed to the synergistic effect of the substitution of Zn2+, in situ composited active carbon and the as-constructed unique microstructure for the Co0.8Zn0.2MoO4/C composite. Our present work provides a facile one-stone-three-birds strategy to effectively construct the architectures and significantly enhance electrochemical performances for other transition metal electrode materials.

In this study, we used solid-state synthesis to prepare Ba[(ZnxCo1−x)1/3(Nb0.5Ta0.5)2/3]O3microwave ceramics for mobile communications. Compared with Ba[Zn1/3(Nb0.5Ta0.5)2/3]O3, in the prepared materials, Co2+substitution with Zn2+improved the Q × f value and enabled densification and sintering at a lower temperature. We used X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to analyze the obtained microstructure. Ba[(ZnxCo1−x)1/3(Nb0.5Ta0.5)2/3]O3was found to have a 1:2 ordered hexagonal structure, and its Q × f value increased with the increase in sintering temperature. In this work, excellent microwave dielectric properties—τf= −0.7 ppm/°C, εr= 34.5, and Q × f = 110,000 GHz—were obtained by sintering Ba[(Zn0.3Co0.7)1/3(Nb0.5Ta0.5)2/3]O3at 1400 °C for 5 h.

Halides have currently been discovered to be ideal electrolytes for all-solid-state Li batteries (ASSLBs) due to their variability, splendid electrochemical stability, and high Li + conductivities. Here, we studied the electrochemical properties of Li 2-2 x Zn x MgCl 4 ( x = 0–0.3) and their application in ASSLBs. By Zn substitution into the Li site of Li 2 MgCl 4 , the Li + conductivities of Li 1.6 Zn 0.2 MgCl 4 (1.2 × 10 −5 S/cm) at room temperature is two orders higher than that of Li 2 MgCl 4 (1.9 × 10 −7 S/cm). The activation energy is reduced to 0.28 eV for Li 1.6 Zn 0.2 MgCl 4 (Li 2 MgCl 4 is 0.47 eV). We attributed the enhanced electrochemical performance to Li vacancies generated from the Zn substitution. In addition, we fabricated a Li | Li 1.6 Zn 0.2 MgCl 4 | Li cell to appraise the electrochemical performance in the lithiation and stripping. It is demonstrated that Li 1.6 Zn 0.2 MgCl 4 can cycle for 100 h under a current density of 0.07 mA/cm 2 . This study demonstrates that introducing Li vacancy into Li 2 MgCl 4 may be a valid way to promote the electrochemical properties of the halides.

Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) have attracted wide attention as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. Nevertheless, the poor cycle performance caused by the [Fe(CN) 6 ] 4− defects and Jahn-Teller (J-T) effect hinders its practical application. Here, Zn-substituted PBAs were synthesized through co-precipitation method and studied as cathodes for Na-ion batteries. The synthesized Na 1.14 Zn 0.39 Fe 0.61 [Fe(CN)₆]·4.14H 2 O (NZFC) and Na 1.18 Zn 0.42 Fe 0.58 [Fe(CN)₆]·4.96H 2 O (NZFE) showed outstanding exceptional electrochemical properties , including high capacity (first capacity of 114.56 and 97.76 mAh·g −1 at 10 mA·g −1 , respectively), excellent rate property (71.81 and 68.69 mAh·g −1 at 500 mA·g −1 , respectively), and cycling stability (64.72 % and 80.27 %, respectively) after 350 cycles at 200 mA g −1 , which is attribute to introduction of Zn element induced a weak Jahn-Teller effect and a low-spins and a high-spins Fe II /Fe III redox sites coordinated by C and N atoms prompt reversible diffusion of sodium ions and without structural transformation in the Na-ion storage. Using combined experiment and theory via ex situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, it is confirmed that the weak J-T distortion contributes significantly to fast-overall kinetics, structural stability , and high electronic conductivity of the electrode. These findings provide new insights into comprehending for the future development of high-performance and stable sodium ion batteries .

Excess phosphorus in water causes significant environmental issues, such as algal blooms, while the over-exploitation of phosphorus ores has raised concerns about phosphorus depletion. To address both the removal and recycling of phosphate efficiently and cost-effectively, a Zn isomorphically substituted magnetite (Zn-Fe 3 O 4 ) was synthesized by incorporating Zn(II) into the Fe(II)/Fe(III) lattice of Fe 3 O 4 , targeting phosphate adsorption from wastewater. Key parameters, such as initial phosphate concentration, adsorbent dosage, adsorption time, and pH were optimized to maximize phosphate adsorption. Based on the Langmuir isotherm model, Zn-Fe 3 O 4 -8.27 % demonstrated a maximum phosphate adsorption capacity of 111.5 mg P/g. Selective adsorption tests showed that Zn-Fe 3 O 4 -8.27 % had a higher affinity for phosphate than other interfering anions and dissolved organic matter. After eight adsorption–desorption cycles, Zn-Fe 3 O 4 -8.27 % retained 80 % of its initial adsorption capacity, successfully recovering over 70 % of the phosphate, with only an 11 % loss of of Zn(II). This significantly lower Zn(II) loss compared to other zinc-based adsorbents, enhancing its reusability. This high efficiency in adsorption and recycling is attributed to strong electrostatic attraction and inner-sphere complexation between Zn(II) and phosphate. Consequently, Zn-Fe 3 O 4 -8.27 % emerges as a promising adsorbent for phosphate removal from wastewater.
