Ni-Co Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) shows great application potential in the field of anti-corrosion. However, the poor carrying capacity limits the performance of anticorrosion performance. In this study, Ni-Co hydrotalcite was grown on the surface of DE, and Ni-Co/DE@SP microcapsule with corrosion inhibitor loading up to 14.7% was successfully prepared. The adsorption capacity of Ni-Co/DE@SP for Cl − in 600 mmol/L NaCl solution was 6.72 mmol/g. It is worth noting that the impedance modulus of the prepared composite coating (EP/Ni-Co/DE@SP) is two orders of magnitude higher than that of the pure resin coating, and the wear resistance was improved by 33%.
The aim of this work is to develop an eco-friendly pH-responsive intelligent coating with long-term corrosion protection by a convenient method. Herein, an eco-friendly and long-term pH-responsive intelligent anti-corrosion coating (BTA-CaCO 3 @TA coating) is fabricated through the addition of a hydrophilic pH-responsive release material (BTA-CaCO 3 @TA microspheres) into a waterborne epoxy resin coating. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results indicated that BTA-CaCO 3 @TA microspheres could endow the coating with long-term corrosion protection. The |Z| f =0.01Hz values of the BTA-CaCO 3 @TA coating after 130 days of immersion were still higher than those of the pure waterborne epoxy resin coating at the beginning of immersion. The excellent long-term protection performance was related to the good dispersibility of BTA-CaCO 3 @TA microspheres in the waterborne coatings, the TA conversion film and the BTA inhibitor protection film, which formed on the steel surface in situ. This synergistic strategy demonstrated its future application for protecting metals from corrosion.

Metal pipes in industrial production are exposed to various corrosive ions. The combined action of these ions with oxygen in water causes corrosion and contamination of the metal pipes and equipment. In addition, metallic ions in water react with anions to form scale on the surface of the metal, which significantly reduces the service life of the metal and equipment, resulting in safety hazards. Waterborne coatings have attracted tremendous attention due to the less negative impact on the environment, but their practical applications are severely restricted by poor barrier properties and poor mechanical durability. Herein, the barrier properties of water-based coatings are successfully improved by adding functional slow-release nanofillers, and the fillers also endow the coating with excellent antiscaling properties. A functional slow-release nanofiller (lecithin/SiO2/HEDP) was prepared using HEDP (etidronic acid) as the scale inhibitor active material and SiO2 as the carrier, combined with a phospholipid membrane with slow-release permeability. With the addition of slow-release fillers, compared with the EP coating, the impedance modulus of composite coatings increases about 1 order of magnitude, the scale inhibition rate is as high as 80.7%, and the antiscaling life is double that of the coating without the phospholipid-coated filler. Thus, this study is expected to provide a new perspective for the preparation of new slow-release fillers and high-efficiency scale inhibitor coatings.
A nanofiber composite coating with self-healing and anticorrosive properties is reported in this work. We successfully encapsulated Ibuprofen and 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole into the Polyvinylidene fluoride nanofibers by electrospinning. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests indicate that low-frequency impedance of the scratched coating maintains 10 9 Ω cm 2 within 64 days. The coating exhibits an excellent long-term corrosive resistance and a rapid self-healing performance due to the synergistic effect of multicomponent self-healing factors, which have significant application prospects in the field of marine corrosion protection .
