Synthesis and Characterization of High Heat Resistant Hydroxyl Silicone Oil with Boron and Sulfoxide in Backbone
High heat resistant hydroxyl silicone oil with boron and sulfoxide in backbone (HSOBS) was synthesized by copolymerizing of hydroxyl polyborosiloxane oil (HPBSO) with thionyl chloride (SOCl 2 ). The molecular structure of HSOBS was confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopies (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance ( 1 H-, 11 B- and 29 Si-NMR) spectroscopies. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results showed that incorporation of sulfoxide group in backbone obviously improved the heat resistant of HSOBS. The temperature at 5% mass loss (T 5 ) and maximum decomposition rate (T max ) of HSOBS-1 were 490 °C and 590 °C, respectively. The thermal degradation activation energy (E a ) was systematically studied by the Flynn-Wall-Ozawa method, and the E a of HSOBS was higher than that of HPBSO.
