Series of ZrO 2 supported on the different kinds of SiO 2 carriers were applied in the reaction of 1, 3-butadiene formation from ethanol and acetaldehyde. ZrO 2 /Nano-SiO 2 performed the best performance with the 1, 3-butadiene selectivity 91.43% and the total conversation 52.39%. Prepared catalysts were characterized by N 2 adsorption–desorption, TEM, XRD, temperature-programmed desorption of NH 3 and CO 2 , FTIR spectroscopy of adsorbed pyridine and CO 2 , Raman XPS. The results show that the weak Lewis acid and basic sites are appropriate for BD formation. Furthermore, more and balance acid-basic sites are rather important for the reaction of ethanol and acetaldehyde conversion to BD.
This paper has systematically investigated the structures and properties of the ZrO 2 , Nano-SiO 2 and their composition. The catalysts were prepared by impregnation, characterized by N 2 adsorption–desorption, TEM, XRD, Raman, temperature-programmed desorption of NH 3 and CO 2 , FTIR spectroscopy of adsorbed pyridine and CO 2 , and UV–vis spectra. Compared with dry-mixed samples, these catalysts have larger average pore diameter, enabling ZrO 2 to be dispersed more uniformly on the surface of Nano-SiO 2 . With the Zr–O–Si bonds, ZrO 2 could interact intensely with Nano-SiO 2 . The catalyst prepared shows the best performance, with the selectivity of 93.18% and conversion of 58.52%. The preparation methods have a significant influence on the interaction between ZrO 2 and Nano-SiO 2, which then affects the acid–basic properties. This paper finds that weak acid–basic sites with moderate-intensity are more suitable for ethanol conversion to BD, with the amount of acid and basic sites as close as possible.
Hyperbranched conjugated polymers (P1 and P2) containing 1,3-butadiene repeating units appended with carboxylic ester groups were synthesized in good yield by metal-free catalyzed polymerization of diethyl 4,4′-(5-formyl-1,3-phenylene)(2E,2′E)-bis(but-2-enoate) (M1) or dimethyl 4,4′-(5-formyl-1,3-phenylene)(2E,2′E)-bis(but-2-enoate) (M2). The corresponding P1 and P2 polymers were structurally characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy. The polymers are highly soluble in common organic solvents. The UV-vis absorption bands of P2 along with its emission spectrum was red-shifted compared to that of P1, indicating the extension of conjugated length. The hyperbranched conjugated polymers were used as ratiometric fluorescence chemosensors for the detection of the biologically important metal ion Fe3+. The corresponding Stern–Volmer constants (Ksv) of P1 and P2 are 2.90 × 104 M−1 and 3.83 × 104 M−1, respectively. Detection limits of 6.99 × 10−7 M for P1 and 6.69 × 10−7 M for P2 were achieved. The neutral polymer P1 or P2 was hydrolyzed to obtain water-soluble hyperbranched conjugated polymer P3. The ability of P3 to detect different Fe3+ ions in aqueous solution was investigated. The results demonstrate that these polymers can serve as sensitive and selective sensors for Fe3+ ions in organic and aqueous solutions.
