Cooperative self-assembly of metal ions, bridging ligands and surfactants is an effective method to prepare mesostructured metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). In this study, we use quaternary ammonium surfactants with different head groups as templates to examine their effects on the structure and morphology of mesostructured MOFs formed by Cu2+ and 5-hydroxy-1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid. In the presence of low surfactant concentrations, mesostructured MOFs with a variety of morphologies have been synthesized, having disordered, lamellar, p6mm or Pmn structure accordingly by increasing surfactant charge density. The particle size of mesostructured MOFs can be controlled from 200 to 600 nm by adjusting the molar ratio of ligand to surfactant. Comparing our experimental results with the synthesis of mesoporous silicas, we find that they follow a similar assembly process and the charge matching between surfactant and MOF framework plays a key role in the formation of mesostructures.
A convenient synthesis of novel 3-deoxy-5-hydroxy-1-aminocarbasugars was developed here. The benzyl-protected glucose-derived ketone 12 was selectively converted in high yield to enone 13via retro-Michael elimination of BnOH. The double bond of 13 was regio- and stereo-selectively reduced by the induction of C4-α-OBn to the multi-functionalized 15. 15 contained all the functionalities with similar configurations to carbasugars but with 3-H and 5-OH in the ring, and it would be a very interesting building block for organic synthesis or for bioactive compounds. As one application, 15 was further transformed into 1-amino-carbasugars by the reductive amination and final deprotection of benzyls. The targets were subjected to the in vitro inhibitory activity test against sucrase or maltase. The inhibitory activity of 17b, 17h or 17j against sucrase was nearly similar to that of voglibose. In comparison with voglibose, in vivo results similarly showed that 17b, 17h or 17j could lower the post-prandial blood glucose level after sucrose loading in healthy male ICR mice, while miglitol or acarbose was less effective. The molecular modeling study of some targets or voglibose with human sucrase could explain the inhibiting action.

The Liangfu formula, as described in 'Liangfang Jiye', is well-known for its efficacy in treating stomach pain, abdominal pain, and dysmenorrhea. This research aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of 5-hydroxy-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-3-heptanone (DPHA), Galangin, Kaempferide, 5-Hydroxy-1,7-diphenyl-3-heptanone (DPHC), α-Cyperone, and Nootkatone in vivo using an LC-MS/MS method. The method successfully separated the six active components and internal standards (Chrysin and Yakuchinone-A) on an XB-C18 column with a mobile phase of 0.2 ‰ formic acid water-acetonitrile. It demonstrated good linearity with a correlation coefficient (r 2 ) ≥ 0.9911 and a lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) of 5–80 ng/mL for the different components. Precision, accuracy, matrix effects, and recovery rates were within acceptable ranges. Pharmacokinetic analysis revealed significant differences in parameters between primary dysmenorrhea (PD) and normal rats (especially AUC, T max, and CL z /F). Tissue distribution showed that the six active components of the herbal pair Alpinia officinarum Hance- Cyperus rotundus L. (HPAC) extract was primarily distributed in the liver, lung, and kidney. This study offers valuable insights into the potential mechanisms of action and drug development for treating PD.
