Photocatalytic technology had attracted attention for the abatement of organic contaminants in wastewater with solar energy. In this study, a binary supported heterojunction photocatalyst (AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 /g-C 3 N 4 ) was constructed by a facile impregnation method, and the catalyst was utilized for the efficient degradation of tetracycline (TC) under visible light. The structure, micro-morphology and optical properties of the photocatalyst were also characterized and analyzed. Compared with g-C 3 N 4 and AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 , the composites exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance. Among them, superoxide radicals, hydroxyl radicals and holes were participated in the degradation reaction. In addition, the composites had good cyclic stability and a broad pH usage range. The enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance could be attributed to the Z-scheme electron transfer mechanism, which both promoted the separation of photogenerated carriers and utilized the strongest redox capacity in the monomer. Overall, this work provided a feasible strategy for constructing g-C 3 N 4 -based heterojunction catalysts for efficient removal of TC from polluted water.
Single-crystalline AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 nanosheets have been successfully fabricated by facile hydrothermal method without any surfactants. Subsequently, Ag/AgBr-grafted AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 nanosheets were synthesized by the in situ photoreduction of AgBr/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 composites prepared by a deposition–precipitation method. Under visible light irradiation. The Ag/AgBr/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 composites exhibit a strong absorbance in the visible region because of the surface plasmon resonance absorption of Ag nanocrystals. Compared with bare AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 nanosheets, Ag/AgBr nanoparticles and Ag/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 composites, a dramatic enhancement in the degradation rate of tetracycline (TC) is observed over the Ag/AgBr/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 composites. The immense enhancement of the photocatalytic activity is attributed to the extended absorption in the visible-light region, effective charge separation, and synergistic enhancement induced by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) in the heterostructured Ag/AgBr/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 . This study provides new insight into the fabrication of highly efficient and stable ternary metal molybdate based plasmonic photocatalysts and facilitates their practical application to solve environmental issues. The mechanism for the photodegradation of TC over Ag/AgBr/AgIn(MoO 4 ) 2 is discussed in detail.
