Water-soluble AgInZnS quantum dots (AIZS QDs) were synthesized with glutathione (GSH) as a stabilizer by a facile one-step method based on a hydrothermal reaction between the nitrate salts of the corresponding metals and sodium sulfide as a sulfide precursor at 110 °C. The optimal reaction conditions (temperature, time, pH, and the molar ratios of the precursors) were studied. According to the data from TEM, XPS, and XRD, AIZS QDs were characterized with excellent optical properties. The results showed that the aqueous-dispersible AIZS QDs were quasi-spherical and their average diameter was 3.51 nm. Furthermore, the cytotoxicity of AIZS QDs was investigated by microcalorimetry and microscopy techniques (confocal microscopy and TEM). The data revealed that AIZS QDs exhibited low toxicity, biocompatibility, and good water stability, due to which they could be used as a fluorescent probe for bioimaging and labeling. In addition, AIZS QDs could be used as a sensor to detect Cu2+ because the fluorescence of AIZS QDs was quenched by Cu2+.

Fluorescent fiber is widely used for anti-counterfeiting purposes due to its unique security features and ease of identification worldwide. In this study, polychromatic fluorescent fiber using bleached softwood fiber (F) combined with AgInZnS quantum dots (AIZS QDs) was successfully prepared through a one-step hydrothermal method. The photoluminescence (PL) of AIZS@F could be adjusted from green to red by varying the molar ratio of Ag + /Zn 2+ /S 2− /In 3+ . Increasing the molar ratio of Ag + /In 3+ led to a redshift in peak emission wavelength, increasing Zn 2+ /In 3+ or S 2− /In 3+ resulted in a blueshift in PL wavelength. Furthermore, AIZS QDs were synthesized both on the surface and inside of the fluorescent fiber, and the mild hydrothermal condition did not cause significant damage to the structure of the fiber. Additionally, due to the inherent microporous structure of natural plant fiber, AIZS QDs could still be steadily loaded into the fiber after intense mechanical stirring. AIZS@F exhibited excellent fluorescent performance although the total loading amount was merely 0.457%. This stable, polychromatic, hydrophilic and degradable fluorescent fiber has great potential for anti-counterfeiting applications.
Developing single-pixel color-tunable electroluminescence technology represents a practical approach to circumvent current limitations in pixel processing and longevity. However, existing single-pixel color-tunable quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) devices predominantly employ complex tandem structures. Herein, we demonstrate single-layer color-tunable QLEDs by the real-time interface exciplex modulation with AgInZnS (AIZS) quantum dots (QDs). The dynamically color-tunable QLEDs based on green- and red-emitting AIZS QDs exhibit broad spectral coverage, spanning from green to blue, red to yellow, with standard white emission, respectively. The fabricated devices achieve a leading maximum external quantum efficiency of 5% for quaternary alloy AIZS-based QLEDs. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate patterned and large-area QLEDs, systematically confirming their significant potential for application in full-color display and lighting technologies.
