A thin, lightweight and flexible electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding paper composite is an urgent need for modern military confrontations. Herein, a sandwich-structured EMI shielding paper composite with an easy pavement consisting of a filter paper layer, middle AgNWs/MXene layer, and polyvinyl butyral (PVB) layer was constructed by vacuum-assisted filtration, spraying and air-drying. The middle AgNWs/MXene compound endowed the filter paper with excellent electrical conductivity (166 S cm−1) and the fabricated filter paper–AgNWs/MXene–PVB composite exhibits superior EMI shielding (30 dB) with a 141 μm thickness. Remarkably, the specific EMI shielding effectiveness (SSE/t) of the filter paper–AgNWs/MXene–PVB composite reached 13,000 dB cm2g−1within the X-band frequency range. This value represents one of the highest reported for cellulose-based EMI shielding materials. Therefore, our sandwich-structured filter paper composite with superior EMI shielding performance can be used in the medical and military fields.

Ubiquitous electromagnetic waves have a negative effect on precision instruments and damage human health. Therefore, multifunctional and versatile flexible transparent conductive films, which can solve the challenge of microelectronic device encapsulated and protected in harsh conditions (e.g., extreme temperature) in specific scenarios, are demanded to process electromagnetic shielding and electric heating properties. Herein, AgNWs/MXene@Ni/PET films were fabricated by MXene template-guided electrochemical deposition of nickel nanosphere as flexible transparent conductive films. The films exhibit excellent optoelectrical properties (9.8 Ω/sq @ transparency 80.3%), splendid EMI shielding performances (35.1 dB), outstanding electric heating performance (85°C at 4 V), and rapid heating capability (reaching the saturation temperature with 40 s), which are potential to be widely applied under the complex surrounding as electromagnetic shielding and electric heating. Noticeably, nickel nanosphere are regarded as resistor-capacitor circuit model on the surface of MXene, forming the structure of the capacitor. Furthermore, magnetic nickel nanospheres have synergistic effect with dielectric MXene and AgNWs, defined Dielectric-Magnetic-Dielectric synergistic absorption. In addition, Ni nanosphere generate dielectric dipole interactions with MXene, to enhance the capability of absorbing EMW. Finally, this work has the potential to be conducive to practical and commercial applications as flexible transparent electromagnetic interference and electric heating devices.

Flexible strain sensors that combine high sensitivity and wide range are important for developing wearable electronics. In this paper, AgNWs/MXene/SEBS flexible strain sensor with high sensitivity and wide strain range was prepared using a thermoplastic elastomer (styrene-ethylene-butene-styrene) SEBS as the polymer matrix and AgNWs and MXene as the composite conductive fillers. The sensitivity of the AgNWs/MXene/SEBS sensor is significantly higher than that of the AgNWs/SEBS and MXene/SEBS sensors based on a single conductive filler. At 100% strain, the AgNWs/MXene/SEBS sensor has a sensitivity of 176.25. The sensor detects small strains of 0.5-5% as well as large strains of 5–50% with high linearity. The sensors remained stable after 200 cycles. The AgNWs/MXene/SEBS tensile sensors were subjected to array testing and finger bending recognition, and the sensors have promising applications in human motion monitoring. Graphical Abstract

The electromagnetic interference and heat accumulation pose a significant challenge for the traditional high-density single-function electromagnetic shielding materials in advanced flexible integrated electronics. Herein, nano-silver flakes (AgNFs, reflective layer), MXene (Ti 3 CNTx, loss layer) and silver nanowires (AgNWs, heat conduction and shielding layer) constructed ordered multi heterogeneous layers high-performance flexible electromagnetic shielding functional composites (AMA composites). Especially the composites exhibited outstanding electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE) of 70.96 dB even with an extremely thin coating of 25 g/m 2 , which is 350% higher than that of the commercial standard (20 dB). It is worth noting that the AMA composites also possessed certain qualities such as superior thermal conductivity , flame retardancy, chemical resistance, high-temperature resistance (25 °C–100 °C), and mechanical properties (tensile strength of 44.4 MPa, Young's modulus of 0.6 GPa). The composites display application possibilities in highly integrated advanced flexible electronic products and wearable electronic devices, as well as provide structural design and research ideas for the usage of a new MXene material (Ti 3 CNTx) in electromagnetic shielding composite materials.

Silver nanowires (AgNWs) have attracted significant attention as an alternative to indium tin oxide (ITO) in flexible transparent conductive films (TCFs) due to their excellent electrical conductivity and high optical transmittance. However, AgNWs face numerous challenges in practical applications, including sparse linear arrangement leading to inter-wire gaps, thermal instability, and poor adhesion to substrates. To address these challenges, this study developed a CERGO/AgNWs/MXene multilayer sandwich-structured TCFs. Firstly, a conductive layer was formed by spin-coating MXene and AgNWs; secondly, a CERGO nano-protection layer was generated on the film surface via cathodic electrochemical reduction (CER). This method not only enhanced the film's stability and reduced sheet resistance but also improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance while maintaining high optical transmittance. The prepared multifunctional TCFs exhibited a transmittance of 74.85% at 550 nm, a sheet resistance of 2.78 Ω/sq., and a figure of merit (FOM) of 435. Additionally, the film showed uniform heating performance, rapid thermal response, and high stability, reaching 131.4 °C at 4 V, and achieved an EMI shielding efficiency (SE) of 37.28 dB in the X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz). This study provides a new strategy for developing next-generation multifunctional TCFs with enhanced EMI shielding performance and thermal stability.
