Bulk Ni 2 P and Al 2 O 3 -supported Ni 2 P were prepared at low phosphidation temperature (300 °C) from Ni 9 S 8 and NH 4 H 2 PO 2 , which were separated to avoid the formation of phosphate inside the support pores. The unsupported product phases were characterized by XRD and the Ni 2 P/Al 2 O 3 catalysts by XRD, BET and TEM. A 10 wt.% Ni 2 P/Al 2 O 3 catalyst, made by the Ni(NO 3 ) 2 –NiO–Ni 9 S 8 –Ni 2 P path at a P/Ni ratio of 3, showed the highest activity in the hydrodesulfurization of dibenzothiophene. By separating the nickel and hypophosphite sources, Ni 2 P/Al 2 O 3 catalysts could be obtained at low phosphidation temperature and with low degree of blockage of pores by surplus phosphorus.

γ-Al 2 O 3 supported Manganese and Ferric oxide (Mn-Fe/Al 2 O 3 ) were synthesized and used as catalyst for ozonation of bisphenol A (BPA) in aqueous solution. It was conducted in a semi-batch reactor under different operational conditions, i.e., varying initial pH, ozone flow rate, initial BPA concentration and catalyst dosage. The results indicated that the presence of Mn-Fe/Al 2 O 3 lead to a great enhancement in ozonation of BPA. Using 5 g/L Mn-Fe/Al 2 O 3 evaluated BPA (50 mg/L) removal efficiency up to 84.1% under particular reaction conditions, while that of the single ozonation process was 48.5%. The influence of tert-butanol demonstrated that initiation of hydroxyl radicals was involved and plays an important role in catalytic ozonation. The decrement of solution pH in catalytic ozonation was much higher than that in ozone alone, indicating much small molecule acids produced in catalytic ozonation process. The repeated use the Mn-Fe/Al 2 O 3 proved that it had a good reusability and stability.

It is challenging to develop an alkyne semi-hydrogenation catalyst with both high selectivity and high activity, especially at low temperatures and low pressures. Herein, a single-atom Ni-modified Al2O3-supported Pd is proposed as a modulation strategy to optimize the selectivity of alkyne semi-hydrogenation. Sphere-difference-corrected transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron radiation confirm that Ni single atoms enter the alumina lattice in a highly dispersed state, while Pd is loaded on the Ni-modified support in the form of nanoparticles. For the semi-hydrogenation of phenylacetylene, the Pd0.5/Ni0.5@γ-Al2O3 catalyst with Pd and Ni loadings of 0.45 and 0.43 wt %, respectively, achieves 98% conversion and 94% selectivity at 298 K and 0.1 MPa. It also possesses good stability, as the activity remains unchanged after 10 cycles of application. The Pd0.5/Ni0.5@γ-Al2O3 catalyst inherits the high activity of Pd and the high selectivity of Ni to achieve efficient semi-hydrogenation of phenylacetylene at low temperatures and pressures, benefiting from the synergistic effect of Pd and Ni.
