The application of metal catalysis has gained prominence as a study area in recent years. In this work, we use adsorptive reduction and calcination to create Au–Pd alloy catalysts on COCN-2 with varying metal loadings. The plasma resonance effect of the alloys increases the photoresponse of the catalysts, and the engineering of nitrogen defects strengthens the strong bonds between Au–Pd alloy particles and carbon nitride graphite, optimizing the electronic structure, encouraging electron-directed migration, and increasing the efficiency of the reduction reaction. As a result, the efficiency of hydrogen generation by the Au–Pd 0.6 /COCN-2 catalyst is 5.089 mmol g −1 h −1 , which is 2367 times higher than that of the g-C 3 N 4 catalyst. Our findings highlight the crucial part that flaws play in strengthening the strong bonds that exist between the metal and the support, which enhances photocatalytic hydrogen generation. This work offers insightful information about creating effective photocatalysts.

Achieving the balance between the catalytic activity and product selectivity still remains a challenge in partial oxidation processes, because the products are prone to be over-oxidized. Lewis acids (such as AlCl 3 ) have previously been identified to interact with C O groups, which can prevent the ketone products from further transformation. In this work, ZrO 2 promoted Au-Pd/γ-Al 2 O 3 catalyst was designed to enhance the benzaldehyde selectivity by generating more surface Lewis acid site on ZrO 2 -modified alumina. Results show that the introduction of ZrO 2 (5%) resulted in the formation of more surface Lewis acid sites, which improved the benzaldehyde selectivity through the strengthened interaction between the Lewis acid sites and C O groups in benzaldehyde. Besides, the addition of small amount of ZrO 2 enhanced the noble metal dispersion and led to the formation of more active sites to improve the oxygen transfer during the reaction.

Au–Pd bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) with core–shell structures have been successfully anchored on chemical exfoliated MoS2 (Au–Pd/MoS2) through a facile co-reduction method at room temperature. The Au–Pd/MoS2 hybrids were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The pristine MoS2 nanosheets exhibit some peroxidase-like activity for the oxidation of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), and their catalytic activity is significantly enhanced by the deposition of Au–Pd NPs. A systematic study revealed that Au–Pd NPs with a mass ratio of 1 : 2 on MoS2 (Au1.0Pd2.0/MoS2) showed the highest catalytic activity compared with other counterparts. This excellent performance of the Au1.0Pd2.0/MoS2 hybrids should be ascribed to not only the intrinsic catalytic activity of MoS2, but also the complicated metal–metal and metal–support interactions.
