Due to the limitation of the intrinsic dielectric constant, the energy storage density of PVDF polymers cannot meet the needs of electronic materials. In this regard, this work focuses toward enhancing the dielectric and energy storage performance of PVDF by preparing PVDF nanocomposites impregnated with sepiolite modified with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB@Sep) and carboxylated carbon nanotubes (C-MWCNTs). The results show that CTAB@Sep nanofibers can serve as efficient nucleation agents for γ-PVDF crystals. Furthermore, Sep nanofibers modified with CTAB can significantly promote the dispersion of C-MWCNTs through the electrostatic adsorption effect and then block the conductive path, therefore improving the dielectric and energy storage properties of PVDF-based composites. The dielectric constant of PVDF/CTAB@Sep/C-MWCNTs composites increases by 8 times compared with that of pure PVDF at 1 kHz, while the loss remains at only 0.08. Under an electric field of 110 kV·mm–1, the discharge energy density is 4.03 J·cm–3, and the energy storage efficiency reaches 81.85%. Therefore, this work provides an alternative strategy for preparing high-performance polymer-based energy storage materials under low field strength.

The development of stealth materials with both efficient corrosion resistance and low-frequency microwave absorption is highly necessary. In this work, neural-structured Co@C/MWCNTs nanocomposites were successfully synthesized through a facile co-precipitation method, followed by a subsequent pyrolysis process. By adjusting the pyrolysis temperature, the pore structure, crystallinity, degree of graphitization, and electromagnetic parameters of the material were optimized. This optimization achieved a multi-mechanism synergistic effect in the low-frequency region (C-band), including impedance matching, dielectric loss, conductive loss, and magnetic loss. The results indicated that NCN-700 achieved a minimum reflection loss ( RL min ) of −64.31 dB at 4.88 GHz. Additionally, the neural-structured Co@C/MWCNTs nanocomposites exhibited significant effectiveness in low-frequency radar stealth applications, while also displaying superior corrosion resistance, self-corrosion potential ( E corr = 0.52 V), and self-corrosion current density ( I corr = 2.58 × 10 −6 A/cm 2 ). These findings suggest the promising potential for neural-structured Co@C/MWCNTs nanocomposites in applications related to low-frequency microwave absorption and corrosion protection.

Addressing global energy and freshwater scarcity requires sustainable, integrated technologies. Inspired by sunflower's water transport mechanisms, we developed a hydrophilic composite aerogel based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), chitosan (CS), and waterborne polyurethane (WPU). Incorporating carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (c-MWCNTs) yielded the BMPCW aerogel, a bifunctional system for simultaneous solar desalination and hydrovoltaic power generation. This design synergizes the aerogel's interfacial evaporation properties with c-MWCNTs' conductivity and photothermal conversion, significantly enhancing water/ion transport and energy conversion efficiency. Under 1 kW m −2 simulated sunlight, the system achieved a high freshwater evaporation rate of 3.41 kg m −2 h −1 and generated an open-circuit voltage of 125.2 mV in 3.5 wt% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution. The BMPCW aerogel exhibits excellent chemical stability, renewability, and maintains robust performance over multiple cycles. Aerogel array devices successfully demonstrated applicability in seawater desalination and powering small electronics. This work highlights the aerogel's potential for distributed energy, smart agriculture, and offshore applications, offering a novel biomaterial strategy and feasible pathway for sustainable clean water and green energy co-production.

The first trial for electrochemical determination of Pb(II) with a bimetal organic framework derived composite, denoted as Co-N x -C@MWCNTs, is demonstrated in this work. The Co-N x -C@MWCNTs with three dimensionally braided structure was fabricated on the basis of zinc/cobalt co-centered bimetal zeolite imidazole framework (BMZIF-67) and interlaced with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Contributable to the presence of zinc/cobalt co-centers and the nitrogen-containing ligands, the homogenous dispersion of metallic cobalt and the formation of Co-N x moieties which were widely known as active sites in electrocatalysts were fulfilled. The integration of MWCNTs resulted in enhanced conductivity and extra porosity, which were also crucial for electrochemical sensing. Therefore, Co-N x -C@MWCNTs based electrochemical sensor exhibits good reliability for Pb(II) detection, with a low detection limit of 0.7 μg L −1 over a wide linear range of 2–60 μg L −1 . This design may shed lights on the fabrication of bimetal organic frameworks based electrochemical sensors in general.

Achieving high-performance microwave absorbers characterized by wide bandwidth, robust absorption, lightweight properties, and thin profiles remains a critical challenge within modern radar stealth and electromagnetic compatibility domains. In this study, we introduce a straightforward and cost-effective strategy for fabricating lightweight and efficient microwave absorbers utilizing composites derived from bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs). A variety of ZIF-8@ZIF-67 precursors incorporating multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were synthesized through a sequential wet-chemical process. These precursors underwent conversion into porous bimetallic MOF-derived CoZn-C/MWCNTs composites via subsequent pyrolysis. The composition, microstructure, and electromagnetic characteristics of the pyrolyzed materials were precisely regulated by varying the Co/Zn molar ratio within the precursors. Due to the synergistic magnetic and dielectric dissipations, the 3:1 Co/Zn composite exhibited the best attenuation constant and impedance matching among all synthesized samples. Thus, the optimized composite provided a significant effective absorption bandwidth of 5.29 GHz at a thickness of 1.9 mm, coupled with an outstanding minimum reflection loss of −23.78 dB at 2.0 mm, even with a minimal filler loading of 20 wt%. The enhanced scattering suppression behavior was additionally verified through radar cross-section simulation. This research provides a novel viewpoint on the rational design of lightweight MOF-based composites for broadband electromagnetic wave absorption performance.

Lightweight absorbers with strong broadband microwave absorption are highly desired in military and civil fields. In this work, a 3D interpenetrating network formed from a Co@C@ MWCNTs composite was synthesized via a combined wet chemical and pyrolysis route. Because of strengthening interfacial polarization, suitable impedance matching and synergistic effects, the Co@C@MWCNTs hierarchical composite exhibited outstanding microwave absorption properties. An optimal reflection loss reached − 55.7 dB at 8.7 GHz and its effective bandwidth ( R L < − 10 dB) achieved 4 GHz (7.4–11.4 GHz) at an absorber thickness of 3 mm with a low filler content of 10 wt%. Furthermore, an effective bandwidth of 12.4 GHz (4.5–16.9 GHz) was obtained by varying the thickness from 2 to 4.5 mm. The superior microwave absorption performance originated from the enhanced interfacial polarization, multiple reflections, conductive network, synergistic effects and an improved impedance matching between Co–C and MWCNTs. This work provides a strategy to rationally design novel lightweight absorbers with strong microwave absorption.

Since wearable pressure sensors have promising applications in the fields of human physiological signal detection and bionic robots, there is an urgent need for wearable pressure sensors with comprehensive attributes such as high sensitivity and wide detection range. Here, we introduce a facile electrospinning process to fabricate a film composed of thermoplastic polyurethane/carboxyl multiwalled carbon nanotube/V 2 CT X -MXene (TPU/c-MWCNTs/V 2 C). This film has high sensitivity and great linearity, designed for flexible piezoresistive sensors. To further enhance sensor performance, we applied a spin-coating of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) on the sandpaper surface to create a top substrate with intermittent spinosum structures. Additionally, a layer of TPU fibers was electrospun between the conductive film and the interdigitated electrodes. The assembled components form a flexible piezoresistive sensor with a wide detection range of 0–200 kPa, a high sensitivity of 545.2 kPa −1 , a low detection limit of 5 Pa, a short response time of 48 ms, and excellent long-term durability after 7000 loading/unloading cycles, making the piezoresistive sensor highly discriminating for detecting complex human movements. Thanks to the great sensing performance and stable structure, we conducted various demonstrations to capture human physiological signals, including signals of muscle activity and pulse. These findings indicate the potential of the designed flexible pressure sensor for applications in electronic skin and smart devices.

Owing to the multi-dimensional complexity of human motions, traditional uniaxial strain sensors lack the accuracy in monitoring dynamic body motions working in different directions, thus multidirectional strain sensors with excellent electromechanical performance are urgently in need. Towards this goal, in this work, a stretchable biaxial strain sensor based on double elastic fabric (DEF) was developed by incorporating carboxylic multi-walled carbon nanotubes(c-MWCNTs) and polypyrrole (PPy) into fabric through simple, scalable soaking and adsorption-oxidizing methods. The fabricated DEF/c-MWCNTs/PPy strain sensor exhibited outstanding anisotropic strain sensing performance, including relatively high sensitivity with the maximum gauge factor (GF) of 5.2, good stretchability of over 80%, fast response time < 100 ms, favorable electromechanical stability, and durability for over 800 stretching–releasing cycles. Moreover, applications of DEF/c-MWCNTs/PPy strain sensor for wearable devices were also reported, which were used for detecting human subtle motions and dynamic large-scale motions. The unconventional applications of DEF/c-MWCNTs/PPy strain sensor were also demonstrated by monitoring complex multi-degrees-of-freedom synovial joint motions of human body, such as neck and shoulder movements, suggesting that such materials showed a great potential to be applied in wearable electronics and personal healthcare monitoring. Keywords:double elastic fabric;carbon nanotube;polypyrrole;multidirectional;strain sensor;complicated human motions detection
