In this work, the titanate coupling agent KR-TTS was used in tape casting of CaO–B 2 O 3 –SiO 2 (CBS) glass-ceramics to obtain a high-performance dielectric tape. The functional group ((RO) m ) of KR-TTS could directly react with the hydroxyl (–OH) of the CBS powders, which made the feature of powders from hydrophilicity into hydrophobicity . The modification mechanism of the modifier KR-TTS was illuminated by infrared absorption spectrum and contact angle of powders with modifier KR-TTS. The optimum amount of KR-TTS was determined by the rheological properties of suspensions, the density and the tensile strength of the green samples, the density and dielectric properties of the sintering samples sintered at 835 °C. The surface modification of CBS glass-ceramic by KR-TTS has made a substantial breakthrough in improving the densification and the mechanical performance of the green tapes. When the amount of KR-TTS was 1.0 wt%, the stability of slurry and the properties of the green samples had been greatly improved. The density of the green samples with 1.0 wt% KR-TTS reached 1.59 g/cm 3 and the tensile strength of the green samples reached 2.43 MPa. The sintering sample with 1.0 wt% KR-TTS realized sintering densification and performed better dielectric properties. The sintering density reached to 2.51 g/cm 3 . The permittivity and dielectric loss were ε r = 5.92 and tanδ = 13 × 10 −4 at 10 GHz.

CaO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 (CBS) glass ceramic with various glass network modifiers were synthesized to develop a kind of material sintered at low temperature for multi-layer ceramic substrates. The influence of double alkali metal oxides (Na 2 O and K 2 O) on sintering characteristics, microstructures and dielectric properties of CBS glass ceramic were investigated. XRD analysis showed that the major crystalline phase was β-CaSiO 3 and CaB 2 O 4 , and the strength of the peak increased with the addition of network modifiers. DSC curve revealed that the process of crystallization and softening were obviously affected. SEM photographs exhibited that the microstructures were composed of amorphous phases, pores and crystalline phases. FTIR showed that the additives changed the continuity of CBS glass structure. An appropriate amount of Na 2 O and K 2 O additives could significantly improve the sintering characteristics and dielectric properties. CBS samples with 1.5 wt% (Na 2 O + K 2 O) sintered at 850 °C for 15 min presented the best performances with the bulk density of 2.53 g/cm 3 , ε r = 5.94 and tan δ = 1.22 × 10 −3 at 10 GHz.
The dielectric layer plays a key role in regulating electromagnetic wave broadband scattering based on meta-surface technology. Herein, the physical properties of composite powder, prepared by spray drying of CaO-B 2 O 3 -SiO 2 (CBS) glass-ceramic powder and Al 2 O 3 in different mass ratios, are systematically investigated. Meanwhile, a high enthalpy atmospheric plasma spraying equipment is utilized to prepare CBS/Al 2 O 3 composite coatings , and the morphology, physical properties and dielectric properties of the composite coating are analyzed. The XRD and DSC data of the composite coating reveal that the crystallization behavior of β-CaSiO 3 and CaB 2 O 4 gradually disappear with the increase of Al 2 O 3 content. Hence, only CaAl 2 Si 2 O 8 phase is observed during heat treatment. The experimental results confirm that the dielectric properties of CBS/Al 2 O 3 composite coating conform to the rule of mixture for composite materials. Also, the dielectric properties are affected by porosity and crystallization rate.
