Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) as photocatalysts have received increasing attention. In this work, a dual metal-substituted UiO-66-NH2 (Ti/Ce-MOF) containing different Ti/Ce mole ratios (x = 0–2.46) has been prepared via post-synthetic exchange between Ce-UiO-66 and TiCl4, followed by amination. The solid had a high surface area (828–937 m2/g) and a large pore volume (0.451–0.507 m3/g). Under visible light, Ti/Ce-MOF showed x-dependent activity for H2O reduction and oxidation on a film electrode, respectively. However, such a change for H2 evolution in a Na2S/Na2SO3 aqueous solution was observed only after CdS loading. In combination with the photoluminescence and band parameters, we propose that the photoactivity of Ti/Ce-MOF for redox reaction is determined by its ability for electron transfer. Furthermore, there is an interfacial electron transfer from Ti/Ce-MOF to CdS and a hole transfer from CdS to Ti/Ce-MOF, respectively, significantly improving the efficiency of charge separation for redox reactions. This work offers a new insight that Ti substitution benefits the performance of Ce-based MOF.

The widespread use of acetaminophen (AP) has resulted in its frequent presence in pharmaceutical waste, posing ecological and health risks. To address this, a voltametric sensor based on a bimetallic UiO-66-NH 2 metal-organic framework incorporating Zirconium (Zr) and Cerium (Ce) was developed for sensitive AP detection. The incorporation of Ce 3+ not only introduced redox active sites but also reduced the particle size from 495-650 nm in (Zr)UiO-66-NH 2 to 230–365 nm in (Zr/Ce)UiO-66-NH 2 , increasing surface area and enhancing electrocatalytic activity. The combined synergistic effect of Zr and Ce significantly improved charge transfer and enhanced oxidation current response compared to the unmodified GCE. The sensor exhibited excellent electrocatalytic performance with a wide linear range (0.072–680 μM), high sensitivity (0.496 μAμM −1 cm −2 ), and a low limit of detection (0.024 μM). In addition, the sensor exhibited excellent selectivity against interfering species and maintained stable performance over 21 days. The sensor's practical applicability was validated by testing real environmental samples, achieving recovery rates of 97–103 %, and the results were consistent with those obtained using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
To efficiently clean oily wastewater with the linear anion polyacrylamide (APAM), selective adsorption strategy belonging to phase equilibrium separation is introduced into the membrane separation . Herein, bimetallic Ce-UiO-66-NH 2 /diatomite (CUD) were first synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method and then employed as a functional layer to form CUD self-assembled membrane (CSA-membrane). CUD particles were characterized by FT-IR, XRD and SEM, and CSA-membrane was observed by SEM. The separation and the selective adsorption properties of CSA-membrane formed under the optimum conditions for APAM in oily wastewater were investigated. The results demonstrate that the size of CUD particles with proper sphericity is mainly 20 μm. Furthermore, CSA-membrane simultaneously exhibits fascinating separation and selective adsorption properties for cleaning oily wastewater, namely the concentration of oil decreases from 78.1 mg L -1 to 6.8 mg L -1 , and flux of CSA-membrane reaches 789.5 L m -2 h -1 . Remarkably, the adsorption capacity of CSA-membrane for APAM is 161.5 mg g -1 , while showing the APAM removal rate of 51.3%. Therefore, CSA-membrane with the synergetic effect of phase equilibrium and rate separation is promising alternative for cleaning oily wastewater with APAM.
