A self-assembly strategy was presented for the synthesis of highly dispersed Co/Fe bimetallic carbon cages (CoFe50@C) through thermal morphology-controlled transformation of Fe doping dual metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Taking advantage of the well dispersibility, synergetic effects between Fe and Co species, and enhanced graphitization degree of carbon, CoFe50@C exhibited a high removal efficiency of 98% in 180 min for sulfamethoxazole (SMX). The synergistic effect between Co and Fe species played an important role in promoting the reduction of Co(III) to Co(II) and the adsorption of H 2 O 2 molecules, thus enhancing the generation of hydroxyl radicals (HO•), which had been demonstrated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Meanwhile, the graphitized carbon cages could prevent the loss of bimetallic active component and promote the electron transfer during catalytic reaction . This work provides a new type of highly dispersed Co/Fe bimetal carbon cages as heterogeneous Fenton nanocatalyst for the degradation of organic contaminants.

Developing an efficient and easily available catalyst for the selective conversion of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into furan-2,5-dimethylcarboxylate (FDMC), a valuable biomass-based monomer, remains a high demand but formidable challenge. Herein, a facile strategy for the synthesis of N-doped carbon-supported Co/Fe bimetallic catalyst (CoFe-NC) was developed, which provided an outstanding FDMC yield of 93% in a batch reactor (base-free, 80 °C, 2 bar O 2 , 4 h). Interestingly, CoFe-NC also gave a high FDMC yield of 91% under continuous-flow conditions for 80 h (5 bar O 2 , 80 °C, GHSV 1320 h −1 , LHSV 0.6 h −1 , base-free). Notably, it is the first time that a non-noble catalyst gave such a high FDMC yield under continuous-flow conditions. The introduction of Fe could greatly improve both the electron intensity of Co-N x species and basicity of the catalyst, which endowed CoFe-NC with improved O 2 activation capacity and enhanced dehydrogenation activity for the oxidation-esterification of HMF. This work delineates the efficient strategy on the construction of N-doped carbon-supported non-noble catalyst, which might open a new avenue for developing highly efficient catalyst for FDMC production.

In this study, a sulfate radical-advanced oxidation process (SR-AOP) was proposed by utilizing a bimetallic Co/Fe metal-organic frameworks/cellulose nanofiber membrane (Co/Fe bi-MOFs/CNF) as a catalyst for TBBPA degradation. Sulfate radicals (SO 4 –) and hydroxyl radicals (OH · ) were generated through the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) by Co/Fe bi-MOFs/CNF. Co/Fe bi-MOFs/CNF was prepared by a facile solvothermal method and vacuum filtration. CNF acted as a natural substrates material to relieve the agglomeration of loaded MOFs . Additionally the composite membranes was easily separated from the reaction solution. The properties of the composite materials and the main factors that influenced TBBPA degradation were elucidated in detail, along with the TBBPA degradation intermediates, recyclability, and TBBPA degradation pathway. Almost 100 % of TBBPA was degraded within 30 min under optimal conditions, and the rate constant was determined to be 0.764 min −1 . Furthermore, the degradation rate of the composite membrane was 60 % after 4 cycles.

The microscopic characteristics of carbon nanotube play a fundamental role in determining the macroscopic features. This research focuses on synthetic studies toward the structural evolution and microwave absorption enhancement of carbon nanotubes from biomass-based citric acid small organic molecules reaction system. When Co/Fe dual metal catalysts are used, self-entangled carbon nanotube networks in all three dimensions like instant noodles form. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is introduced inspired by “growth-from-template” strategy, the green hair algae-like morphology with bamboo-like structure is revealed in the carbon nanotubes. Twisted carbon nanotube yarn structure together with quaternary structure of protein-like carbon nanotube are both observed. Carbon microstructural evolution is investigated in bagasse-based ultralight composite. Toward the incident microwaves, in-situ synthesized CNTs-rGO composite has substantially enhanced reflection loss performance. The strongest reflection loss is -44.9 dB at 12.6 GHz with the absorber thickness of only 2 mm. And the effective microwave absorption bandwidth can reach 6.1 GHz covering a frequency range of 11.5–17.6 with the absorber thickness of only 1.6 mm.
