Ultra-high power density symmetric supercapacitor based on Co3O4:Ce3+/Mn2+ granular nanowires coated nickel foam
In this study, we synthesized Co 3 O 4 :Ce 3+ /Mn 2+ granular nanowires on nickel foam as an electrode for supercapacitors using a hydrothermal method. The introduction of Mn 2+ ions into the Co 3 O 4 :Ce 3+ electrode material increased the oxygen vacancy and Co 2+ /Co 3+ ratio of the material, resulting in an increase in electrical conductivity and electrochemical performance. In the three-electrode system, the Co 3 O 4 :Ce 3+ /Mn 2+ electrode achieved a specific capacitance of 2527.8 F/g at 1 A/g, which is 65 % higher than that without Mn 2+ ions. A symmetric supercapacitor (SSC) device was prepared by assembling two electrode components. At a current density of 1 A/g, the SSC device achieved a specific capacitance of 467.0 F/g, delivering a maximum energy density of 233.5 Wh/kg (1 A/g) and a maximum power density of 36,600 W/kg (20 A/g), coupled with outstanding cycling stability. These results indicate that the Co 3 O 4 :Ce 3+ /Mn 2+ nanowires coated nickel foam electrode holds considerable promise for applications in energy storage.
