Due to the toxicity of heavy metal ions which impacts on public health and the environment, the development of effective methods of detection has assumed a high priority. In this study, we have established an electrochemical sensor based on a CoCu-MOF/polyaniline (CoCu-MOF/PANI) sensing electrode that can simultaneously detect Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ in water samples. The CoCu-MOF/PANI composite was prepared by a one-step in situ polymerization method and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ content was detected by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) at an optimized pH (4.5). The proposed electrochemical sensor has achieved simultaneous Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ detection down to 0.39 ug/L (Pb 2+ ) and 0.61 ug/L (Cd 2+ ). Anti-interference and reproducibility experiments have been conducted. In spiking experiments, the recovery of Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ in water samples ranged from 98.6% to 102.13%, indicating effective targeted electrochemical sensing. This work has delivered a functional design of CoCu-MOF/PANI materials, and established an efficient methodology for heavy metal ion detection.
In the study presented in this paper, a cobalt and copper codoped bimetallic metal-organic framework (CoCu–MOF) was synthesized by a solvothermal method. The CoCu–MOF was then utilized to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to degrade the tetracycline (TC) present in water. When the concentration of organic pollutants was 20 mg/L, the degradation efficiency of TC by the Co 1 Cu 1 –MOF/PMS system reached 98.17 % within 30 min, which was better than that of the PMS and Cu-MOF/PMS systems alone. The effects of catalyst addition, PMS usage, initial pH, temperature, coexisting ions and initial TC concentration on the degradation of TC by Co 1 Cu 1 –MOF were investigated. The sulfate radical (SO 4 •− ), hydroxyl radical (•OH), superoxide radical (O 2 •− ), and nonradical singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) were identified as the primary reactive species through quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analyses. Moreover, linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) analysis was used to determine the occurrence of an electron transfer-mediated nonradical pathway in the reaction system in addition to 1 O 2 . The concentrations of the TC intermediates were determined using liquid chromatography‒mass spectrometry (LC‒MS), and potential degradation processes were proposed. This study showed that CoCu–MOF is a heterogeneous catalyst that activates PMS for efficient TC degradation.
