The inherent single narrow emission peak and fast anion exchange process of cesium lead halide perovskite CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals severely limited its application in white light-emitting diodes. Previous studies have shown that composite structures can passivate surface defects of NCs and improve the stability of perovskite materials, but complex post-treatment processes commonly lead to dissolution of NCs. In this study, CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs was in-situ grown in TiO2 hollow shells doped with Eu3+ ions by a modified thermal injection method to prepare CsPb(Cl/Br)3/TiO2:Eu3+ composites with direct excitation of white light without additional treatment. Among them, the well-crystalline TiO2 shells acted as both a substrate for the dopant, avoiding the direct doping of Eu3+ into the interior of NCs to affect the crystal structure of the perovskite materials, and also as a protection layer to isolate the contact between PL quenching molecules and NCs, which significantly improves the stability. Further, the WLED prepared using the composites had bright white light emission, luminous efficiency of 87.39 lm/W, and long-time operating stability, which provided new options for the development of perovskite devices.

Embedding CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskites QDs in inorganic glass matrix via in-situ crystallization has been regarded as a feasible strategy to improve their stability against water, heat, and light irradiation. However, the tunable-emission range of these CsPbX3-nanocrystals-embedded glasses is still narrow, insufficient to cover a wide color gamut. Herein, a simple synthetic method was developed in this study to obtain the tunable-emission CsPb(Cl/Br)3 quantum dots (QDs) in boro-germanate glass (CsPb(Cl/Br)3 QDs@glass) by controlling the molar ratio of PbBr2/PbCl2. With the increase of the PbBr2 concentration from 1.6 to 3.2 mol%, the emission wavelength of CsPb(Cl/Br)3 QDs@glasses can be shifted from 448 to 485 nm, and the corresponding photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) increases from 0.61 to 24.43%. In addition, the CsPb(Cl/Br)3 QDs@glass exhibits impressing promotion of thermal stability, photostability, and water resistance due to the excellent protective function of the glass matrix. As a proof-of-concept experiment, a LED device was fabricated by employing the optimal CsPb(Cl/Br)3 QDs@glass with a commercial 375 nm UV chip, yielding an intense cyan light. All the results indicate that the investigated CsPb(Cl/Br)3 QDs@glasses may find promising applications as color convertors in wide-color-gamut liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

Recently, Mn 2+ -doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 perovskite nanocrystals (NCs), showing the advantages of dual-color emissions via exciton-to-dopant energy transfer and reduced usage of toxic Pb 2+ heavy metal ions by nontoxic Mn 2+ substitution, are widely explored. However, photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) for Mn 2+ -doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs still need to be further improved. Here, a halogen-hot-injection strategy is developed to prepare Mn:CsPb(Cl 0.6 Br 0.4 ) 3 NCs with the maximal PLQY of 65%. With this method, intense blue narrowband emission from excitonic recombination and orange broadband emission from Mn 2+ 4 T 1 → 6 A 1 transition can be simultaneously achieved. The competitive luminescence between perovskite NCs and Mn 2+ dopants is systematically investigated by controlling the injected halogen types and ratios. As a proof-of-concept experiment, the present Mn 2+ -doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 perovskite NCs with highly efficient dual-color emissions are demonstrated to be applicable as color converter in UV-excitable solid-state lighting.

Mn 2+ doping has been developed to modulate the photoluminescence (PL) of CsPbCl 3 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs). However, the doped Mn 2+ may be expelled from the PQDs host with the long-term storing, resulting in inferior stability. Herein, CsPbCl 3 PQDs doped with different concentrations of Mn 2+ (Mn:CsPbCl 3 ) are prepared by a hot injection method. Our photostability tests reveal that when the doping concentration is <25%, or 40%–50%, the Mn 2+ doped PQDs are intrinsically stable. Anion exchange reactions are conducted between the stable CsPb 0.796 Mn 0.204 Cl 3 and CsPbBr 3 PQDs. Fluorescence color gamut of the resulting Mn:CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs almost covers the entire visible spectrum except for the deep red color. Benefiting from the intrinsic stability and wide color gamut, multicolor solid-state luminescence are acquired by incorporating the Mn:CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) matrices, which are used as color converters for constructing light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with different colors.

Tunability of emitting colors of perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) was generally realized via composition/size modulation. Due to their bandgap absorption and ionic crystal features, the mixing of multiple PQDs inevitably suffers from reabsorption and anion-exchange effects. Herein, we address these issues with high-content Mn2+-doped CsPbCl3 PQDs that can yield blue-excitable orange Mn2+ emission benefited from exciton-to-Mn energy transfer and Cl-to-Br anion exchange. Silica-coating was applied to improve air stability of PQDs, suppress the loss of Mn2+, and avoid anion-exchange between different PQDs. As a direct benefit of intense multicolor emissions from Mn2+-doped PQD@SiO2 solid phosphors, a prototype white light-emitting diode with excellent optical performance and superior light stability was constructed using green CsPbBr3@SiO2 and orange Mn: CsPb(Cl/Br)3@SiO2 composites as color converters, verifying their potential applications in the field of optoelectronics.

White light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) based on all-inorganic perovskite CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) quantum dots (QDs) have attracted much attention and rely on mixing several colors of perovskites. However, this inevitably leads to a non-uniform light distribution and serious light loss. Here, a novel strategy was demonstrated to obtain white emission by combining the orange and blue emission from CsPb/Mn(Cl/Br)3 QDs. Notably, highly efficient white emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield of 94% was achieved by an anion exchange surface engineering (AESE) strategy. After AESE treatment the surface traps can be eliminated, resulting in improved exciton and Mn2+ emission. A prototype WLED device was fabricated and exhibited excellent optical stability, demonstrating great potential for perovskite QDs in the field of optoelectronics.

CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) materials were synthesized by a hot injection method. To enhance the stability of the perovskite , CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 - multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites were synthesized by the insitu growth method. First, the successful composite of CNTs and perovskite has been proved by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). After CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs have grew on CNTs, the exciton lifetime decays from 8.2 ns to 4.5 ns, suggesting the presence of an additional electron transfer pathway between CNTs and CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs. The photoluminescence (PL) properties of perovskite NCs and CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs were evaluated using temperature-dependent PL spectroscopy . The exciton binding energy of the CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs composites (59.28 meV) is higher than that of the CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs (51.79 meV), indicating a more stable exciton state within the CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs structure. The PL stability experimental results reveal a notable enhancement in the stability of CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs composites compared to CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs. In addition, electrochemical tests of CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs show a low resistance to charge transfer ( R ct ) alongside a favorable photocurrent response. This work has proved that the novel CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 -CNTs composites not only exhibit outstanding moisture and UV resistance but also demonstrate remarkable potential optoelectronic device applications.

Mn 2+ -doped perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted extensive research interest and have been synthesized with sizes in the strong confinement regime. Nevertheless, the size of the doped NCs is still not as small as that of undoped perovskite NCs. To address this, we develop a ligand-assisted reprecipitation method incorporating ultrasonication to synthesize Mn 2+ -doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs. The obtained spherical NCs have an average size of 3.1 nm and exhibit orange photoluminescence originating from the 4 T 1 to 6 A 1 transition of Mn 2+ . The luminescent properties correlate with the volume ratio of MnCl 2 to PbBr 2 precursors. Increasing the ratio enhances the Mn 2+ -related emission, while excessive doping leads to photoluminescence quenching. When the precursor ratio is reduced to 1:1, the NCs exhibit both intrinsic exciton and Mn 2+ -related emission, with some particles adopting cubic or rod-like morphologies. Prolonged ultrasonic treatment does not significantly shift the emission peak of the NCs, but promotes superlattice assembly in small-sized NCs, showing a center-to-center separation of 4.2 nm. Subsequently, altering the precursor addition sequence to introduce MnCl 2 last during ultrasonic preparation yields simultaneous formation of spherical and cubic NCs. Finally, post-synthesis doping of Mn 2+ is achieved. Formation of small spherical NCs confirms hypothesis that MnCl 2 induces morphological transformation of NCs. Graphical Ultrasonication-assisted ligand-assisted reprecipitation delivers 3.1 nm Mn 2+ -doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 nanocrystals with orange emission from the Mn 2+ 4 T 1 → 6 A 1 transition.

All inorganic perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) have been studied extensively because of their excellent photoelectric properties. However, its poor stability and lead toxicity limit its practical application. At the same time, the complex synthesis conditions of the hot injection method also limited the preparation of large quantities. Here, we have successfully synthesized Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs with excellent thermal stability at room temperature by a simple supersaturation crystallization method. The synthesized Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs has good homogeneity and crystallinity. Meanwhile, Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs maintains the same crystal structure as CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs. Importantly, it was found that the activation energy of CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs after manganese doping increased from 65.1 meV to 222.8 meV through the high and low temperature PL test of 80 K–500 K. The crystal structure of CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs is more stable due to the introduction of manganese ion, and the thermal stability is significantly improved. In this study, manganese doped CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 PQDs with good crystallinity and thermal stability was rapidly synthesized by a simple supersaturation crystallization method at room temperature, which opened up a new way to improve the stability of PQDs and explore other non-toxic metal elements to replace Pb 2+ .

Metal-halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are considered to be promising types of optoelectronic and photonic materials. The emission colors of the cesium lead halide perovskite (CsPbX3, X = Cl, Br, I) NCs depend on the joint influence of the emission peaks of the host and its dopant ions. Herein, we report a phosphine-free strategy to synthesize Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs to tune their optical properties in a wide color gamut. Colloidal Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs were synthesized by injecting Cs-oleate solution into the MnCl2 and PbBr2 precursor solution. The as-prepared Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs are highly crystalline and uniform sized nanocubes with two emission peaks, including the host emission around 450 nm and the Mn2+ dopant emission around 600 nm, which are sensitive to the MnCl2-to-PbBr2 molar feed ratio and the reaction temperature. By varying the MnCl2-to-PbBr2 molar feed ratio or the reaction temperature, the relative PL intensities of dual color emission can be manipulated, showing their ability in tunable color output.

Mn-doped perovskite CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 nanocrystals (NCs) have been widely explored due to their unique dual-color emission characteristics, which could reduce the usage of toxic Pb and introduce the exciton emission in blue region and the stable Mn 2+ emission peak in orange-red region via energy transfer from exciton to Mn 2+ emission. Although doping high concentration Mn 2+ could increase the Mn 2+ emission, excess Mn 2+ ions would be expelled from the host perovskite lattice. Doping secondary metal Ni into the NCs as an efficient method is always used to improve the Mn 2+ emission. We adopted a one-pot halogen injection into Cs-precursor under ambient environment method to prepare (Mn, Ni): CsPbCl 3 and (Mn, Ni): CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs, which introduces NiCl 2 in the Mn: CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 NCs to supply enough halide ions and to passivate defect states or traps in the perovskite NCs so as to enhance Mn 2+ emission. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations were also conducted to explain our experimental results, which revealed that Ni 2+ doping could eliminate the in-gap deep defects of the CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 nanocrystals. In addition, the passivated lattice defects help to improve the stability of the perovskite NCs, preventing from electron beam irradiation.

CsPbX 3 (X = I, Br, Cl) perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have shown great potential in optoelectronic devices due to their wide tunable bandgap, high photoluminescence quantum yield, and narrow emission spectra. Currently, methods for regulating blue light emission through component engineering or dimensional engineering suffer from issues such as halogen phase separation and increased defects, making it difficult to meet the strict requirements of display technology for pure blue light (CIE y < 0.15). Additionally, traditional synthesis processes are complex and have poor compatibility with Micro-LED miniaturization technology, which restricts their industrial application. Therefore, this study proposes an efficient and green spray drying method. By dissolving the perovskite precursors and halide salts in an aqueous solution, CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 QDs can be rapidly (<10 s) synthesized without organic solvents, and continuous tuning from green to blue light is achieved. This method effectively suppresses surface defects and phase separation through Cl element encapsulation, significantly enhancing stability. Moreover, its excellent processability supports spraying and film formation on any substrate, enabling the direct preparation of highly uniform Mini/Micro-LED pixel units. This technology provides a new approach for large-scale, low-cost manufacturing of perovskite QDs and is expected to accelerate the commercialization process of next-generation display technologies.
